|Minimum Stay||2 - 7 nights|
We have a fantastic 6' round bed suspended from the ceiling of our beach pavilion. Many guests love to read there and take long swaying naps.
WHEN DECIDING ON WHICH VILLA TO RENT, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THE VILLA HAS A DIESEL GENERATOR BACK UP POWER AND AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCH. THIS VILLA DOES.
IT IS A SIGNIFICANT EXPENSE TO INSTALL A 20 KW DIESEL GENERATOR AND MAINTAIN IT IN GOOD OPERATING CONDITION, SO, MANY VILLAS RELY ONLY UPON BATTERIES AND INVERTERS. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS IS THAT THE BATTERIES DISCHARGE AFTER AN HOUR OR SO AND YOU ARE LEFT WITHOUT LIGHTS OR AIR CONDITIONING.
IT IS VERY COMMON TO HAVE POWER OUTAGES IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. IT'S BEST TO BE SURE AND STAY IN A VILLA WITH A DIESEL GENERATOR.

RECOMENDATIONS FOR ACTIVITIES AND TOURS:
DAY 1; HORSEBACK RIDING BEACH AND MOUNTAINS
If you are renting for a week, a horseback ride on the beach is a nice way to start your vacation, followed by an afternoon in the pool.
DAY 2; BEACH TOUR DAY
Another fantastic way to spend the day is to hire a taxi to do a beach tour. This brings you to several very interesting and fun places including a small plantation, a hidden waterfall where you can watch the locals dive from very high perches, The Blue Lagoon, where you can zip line off a cliff and dive into a 70' deep cenote. At the same stop, you can explore an ancient cave.
After the zip lining and swimming, it;s time for lunch on Playa Grande Beach. This beach has been voted as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world! The fresh seafood and chicken on the menu and drinks including coco locos and pina coladas will leave you ready to continue exploring one or two more beaches. I recommend Playa Diamonte where you can find fresh water sulphur springs bubbling up from the sand on the beach and can walk out 300 yards and still be in waste deep calm clear water. Another beautiful beach is Playa Calleton.
DAY 3; MONKEY JUNGLE ZIP LINING
Monkey Jungle is a short 30 minute ride from the villa.
A Taxi can take you there in his van (up to 6).
They have a pretty intense zip line circuit. They also have a really cool monkey habitat where you can feed the small monkeys as they sit on your shoulders and heads and eat out of your hand! If you don't want to zipline, you can just do the monkey jungle and sit at the bar to wait for the zip liners to return.
DAY 4; CABARETE BEACH MASSAGE AND SHOPPING
A day at Cabarete beach is a very relaxing way to pass a day in this wonderful beach town. Many of the establishments will not charge you to use their beach chairs if you buy a drink or snack from them. While on the beach, there are vendors in blue shirts that are licensed to give massages and pedicures on the beach.
It's a must to have an on beach massage followed by a mani-pedi while drinking a cold beer or pina colada. Very relaxing indeed! There are also many shops to explore in town if you need a break from the beach.
DAY 5; PRIVATE CHEF AT VILLA AND MASSAGE
If you are tired of having fun away from the villa, hire our private chef to indulge you with their fantastic meals throughout the day and night. They will meet you the day before to prepare the menu for the next day and stock the fridge with groceries necessary to prepare breakfast the next morning. After breakfast, they will prepare the menu you desire for lunch and dinner then go shopping. This is beyond any doubt most guest's favorite experience during their stay! If you want the ultimate in relaxation, couple the chef experience with a full day of massages, manicures and pedicures poolside or on the beach and you are in for a real treat.
DAY 6; SOSUA BEACH AND PUERTO PLATA CABLE CAR
A morning ride into Puerto Plata to take the cable car to the top of Isabella del Torres is a memorable experience. The views from the top of the mountain are breathtaking! There are also trails and gardens that you explore on top, as well as a little restaurant.
After the cable car, ask your taxi driver to take you to the old fort where you can learn a little history about the area. Then, on to the Amber museum.
After the Amber Museum, a little snorkelling and lunch at Sosua Beach will be a great way to wrap up your week. The shopping at Sosua Beach is much more affordable than in Cabarete.
Other suggestions that can be explored in addition to or instead of those listed above are Ocean World, 27 Waterfalls, a visit to Santo Domingo, quad tour of the mountains and beach, mountain biking, kite surfing, surfing, sailing, deep sea fishing, catamaran snorkeling, night out in Sosua and Cabarete, UFO Museum, Brugal Rum factory tour, Rio San Juan Boat Ride..........The options are endless. You can even climb the tallest peak in the Caribbean; Pico Duarte!
WE HAVE A STRICT NO UNREGISTERED GUEST POLICY. This means that only those guests registered at the time of making the reservation are allowed in or around the property. Local visitors are not allowed on premises.
My name is Frank. I have owned Villa Flamingo since May 2011. I have owned Villa Leone, next door, since 2005 and Villa Belvedere, right behind Villa Flamingo, since 2014. I can often be found at the villas working and adding new and interesting improvements. A short 3 hour flight from Philadelphia; my home town, Cabarete offers everything that I was looking for in a quiet beach town with easy access to the east coast. I believe that if you visit Villa Leone, Villa Flamingo or Villa Belvedere the villa and the town of Cabarete will impress you as much as they did me.
We have many returning guests that come once or twice/year. Some even buy a condo and never go back home!
Hope to see you on the beach very soon!
Frank Leone purchased this villa in 2011
Villa Flamingo is one of the very few truly oceanfront villas available for rental in Cabarete. The swim up bar and pool waterfall will delight and refresh you as you relax on your private beach. The setting is one of absolute beauty and privacy. You are just a 4 minute drive into town to enjoy all of the shopping and dining but protected in your own private world while at Villa Flamingo.
Open air 2nd floor terrace overlooking the oceanfront infinity pool.
Dining Room seating for 12 with gorgeous ocean views.
Exquisite black marble foors throughout.
Spectacular Oceanfront Location.
Swim Up Pool Bar.
Private suspended bed in private beach cabana.
Private Gazebo for oceanfront outdoor dining.
Outdoor picnic table.
Wood fired grill.
My family of 7 stayed at the Villa Flamingo from Dec. 22/15 to Jan.7/16 to celebrate my Mom's milestone birthday gift to us; a family vacation. Suggestions from Frank and previous clients were spot on- from selecting Jose to pick us up from the airport, to hiring the chef to cook for us, to the recommendation of Martinis just a short walk down the beach for meals and drinks. The staff at the Villa were so kind and accommodating, despite their limited English and our limited Spanish we managed to communicate our needs perfectly. The pool and grounds were well maintained, and Mercedes (the maid) was quick to clean up after us. We felt safe on the grounds and never feared being in an unfamiliar country. The bedrooms were well appointed with the room sizes, bed linens and towels, and a lot of closet and storage space. The kitchen was also well stocked with both glass and plastic dishes and glasses- to enjoy at the poolside/outside and in house dining. We were warned that the internet would be inconsistent, but we were very fortunate as we only experienced 'spotty' service a few times in the full 16 days that we were there. Good news for the young adults who needed to stay connected! An excursion guide made a 'house call' and provided us with a variety of excursions that we could choose from, which would have necessitated a trip to town for this service otherwise. We enjoyed trips to town for the beach restaurants, bars and beach life- both during the day and at night.Speaking of waves- Frank's description of the waves and undertow was accurate. No one in our group went against advice but we did see a few that did- with thankfully no negative outcomes. During our stay the remaining 3 other Villas had occupants that stayed for various times and lengths, but despite the numbers you never felt crowded on the property.Castilino (the chef) was hired to make meals for 8 of our 16 days. His meals were tasty, filling and beautifully presented. He made so much food that we had to ask him to omit lunches as we couldn't keep up with all of the food!Overall- we were thrilled with my mom's selection of this vacation rental, the service we received from the owner and the staff that supported the Villas. I would fully recommend this location for anyone wanting to experience a relaxing and laid back time with a group.
We were a family of 6 adults and 2 small children. The Pink Flamingo was the best experience we have had after 17 years of traveling to various oceanfront spots in Mexico, Central America and Hawaii. The home is very accommodating and comfortable. We didn't lack anything. The location is perfect being out of town yet only 1 mile to the store and restaurants. The beach is clean and beautiful. The staff were exceptional and met our every need as did the owner. We enjoyed the villa so much that we spent 90% of our time there and felt no desire to leave. We were able to ride horses right from the villa and have massages on the property.
We will most definitely return to this property in the future.
Our recent stay at Villa Flamingo in Cabarete exceeded our expectations. The entire property was cleaned daily without us really even being aware that the maid was there. The pool and beach were also cleaned daily.
Jose; the taxi driver, was only a call away anytime we needed him.
The security team onsite made us feel very safe and pampered; like we were celebrities!
Frank's suggested activities were great. There was more than enough to do and then some.....
The beach is like your own private beach. You can walk for a mile and only see one or two people on the beach. We also rode horses on the beach.
In conclusion, the location, cleanliness, beauty and security were all key features that made us all want to return this winter.
I can truly say that this property, from the initial contact with Frank down the check-out is one of kind. Frank, the owner displays this property accurately and there were no hidden surprises. His responses are timely and even checks on you throughout the stay to ensure that you are enjoying yourselves. The staff; security, maintenance, and maid service are readily available and as friendly as it gets. The WiFi worked great and the property was very clean. The six of us, all in the service industry, travel frequently and would recommend Villa Flamingo and Cabarete to anyone.
I read a lot of reviews (not on Villa Flamingo) about Cabarete and surrounding areas being unsafe. We rented a car and traveled to a couple random beaches in San Juan as well as Sosua and not once did we feel unsafe. These little cities/towns are beautiful destinations with a culture one should experience.
In terms of tours, we did the waterfalls and atvs. You can do a tour of 7, 12, or 27 waterfalls. We decided to go with 12 and paid an additional $40US to have a tour guide video our experience (well worth the money with a USB provided after). The tour took about three hours with lunch after and a bottle a rum was provided on our trip there. We did a private tour and it cost us about $70US/person. You can negotiate the price, but if you don't then I would suggest using Frank's recommended guide Jose.
The ATV tour is located about 100 yards down the street from Villa Flamingo. Again, we weren't the best negotiators and paid about $60/person for a four hour tour. The tour goes on the main street, through a few small towns, up into the farms, and ended on the beach. First time on an atv, don't be alarmed, the guides are helpful and this tour is definitely well worth it.
In terms of Cabarete, this town has about twenty little bars and restaurants located on the beach. Spend some time enjoying happy hour and dinner. Lazydog has some of the best fish tacos and Gaia Disco gets pretty busy late at night. They do try and sell you things during happy hour but just kindly say, "no thank you." Be respectful, enjoy the culture, and relax at Villa Flamingo and I can assure you that you won't regret it.
Thanks again Frank and staff,
From the now snowed in New England crew!
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Flamingo. The oceanfront infinity pool was where we spent most of our time while not taking tours and walking on the beach that has the most amazing views. The best place to read is on the large swinging bed out in the beach pavilion. There is not a soul around to disturb you out there!
There are a few homes nearby but we really never ran across anybody from them.
We did a day of beach hopping with Jose and a morning of horse riding on the beach. They bring the horses right up to the villa on the beach side! We rode the beach then went up into the mountains. Visited and swam in a cave then had lunch before returning to the villa by horseback. Both tours were very fun and worth doing.
Overall, the villa was in great shape and decorated very nicely. The beds were comfortable and the villa was kept meticulously clean. Mercedes; the maid, is a doll!
Definitely hire the chef for at least one day. We had him do a pig roast with fried plantains, rice with beans and a big salad….. delicious!!!!
The security team and maids kept us feeling safe and well taken care of no matter what we needed.
We are looking forward to a return visit later this year in August.
Villa Flamingo exceeded our expectations. It was our first trip to the Dominican Republic and we could not have picked a better place. The staff was incredible and made our stay even more memorable. Definitely have Danny drive you where you need to go, he's the best. Sara was incredible as far as keeping the house clean for us and Franz makes was especially friendly when we were outside at night. The best thing about staying at the villa was that you had the entire beach to yourself and its away from all the touristy areas. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone, it is truly a gem
Golf: Playa Grande Golf Course is only a 50 minute drive from Villa Flamingo! The Pebble Beach of the Carribean!
