In a small graffiti alley you will find a surprise. A renovated apartment for 4 people in an old building in 60s style. Thanks to the large windows you have a stunning view on the Lys and a small marina. The vista on the rippling water creates a constant relaxed 'zen' atmosphere, despite you are in the heart of the city center. i feel a little bit sad by the moment because there are big works in the neighbourhood. Sometimes you can be disturbed by noise of the machines, but lucky they stop at 4PM and they don't work in the weekends. The apartment is furnished with timeless design. The kitchen has a cooking island with induction, microwave oven, dishwasher, fridge etc.. Bedroom 1 has a double bed 1m60 to 2 m. Bedroom 2 has a double bed 1m80 to 2 m. These bedroom is furnished as a little studio with a seating. Just good for your adolescents, On that way, they have a place for themselves. Less suitable for small childeren as the balustrade around the windows is not very high. The spacious bathroom has a shower and washbasin. There is a storage room with a washing machine. There is a free parking provided in the underground garage of the building.
I wish our guests a 'Flow' experience :
'Flow' means after all:
A mental condition in which a person completely absorbed in his pursuits, with a focus, concentration and loss of sense of time. The activity is intrinsically rewarding..Success assured ...
Welcome to 'Into the Flow'
Nicky was a very generous host. This apartment is absolutely beautiful, with an overlook of the canal and very comfortable. Gent is a compact city and was easily walkable to all of the notable historic sites that travelers come to see. Nicky equipped us with the 5 best book that was a wonderful guide to restaurants and shops with a few of her own discoveries. We enjoyed the beauty of Gent , the street of churches, the Graffiti street and Wurst. Thank You Nicky
First--- we were met at the train station by Nicky so were quickly in the apartment on a rainy day. Everything was as advertised. The apartment is within 5 min of bus stop and then the bus takes you everywhere. Grocery is a few steps away and a great, friendly Italian restaurant a few steps away. My wife and I are in our late 70's but got around Ghent easily. We were there for 3 weeks, used our Eurail pass to visit many places (Bruges and Luxembourg, etc. Suggest you also buy a weekly bus pass for transportation around town. It is also good in Bruges. Nicky found a clinic where my wife could get her blood tests. And when we left for Vienna she took us to the train station. The evenings are great as you sip the wine and watch the river. Highly recommend.
WOW.... just... WOW! If I could give this 6 stars, I would. This was a case where the apartment was even more beautiful in person than in the photos (and it looked very nice in the photos!). It's huge (to us--we're used to "NYC-sized" spaces), immaculately clean, and is tucked away on a safe, quiet side street (but is walkable to all conveniences, which are just around the corner). Although we didn't need to use the kitchen, it was stocked with loads of pots and pans, dishes, cooking utensils, wine glasses/cups, and pretty much everything one could want for whipping up a meal at home. Most important for us, my traveling partner has mobility issues and can't walk far... so the elevator, plus the location of the apartment (the trams are just outside and go to all major sites) made this apartment ideal for us. The inside is tastefully decorated to create a quiet, open, and airy space. So pleasant to wake up to! I also can't say enough about our hosts, Nicky and Gi. They are warm, very humanistic people. To say that they went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our stay would be a gross understatement. They essentially rescued our vacation when it looked like several of our plans would be cancelled due to the railway strikes in Belgium. So, thanks so their solutions, we were not only able to enjoy Ghent and their beautiful apartment, but also, the last few days of our vacation. Thank you!!!
My husband and I enjoyed four nights in this comfortable, clean, and well situated apartment in Ghent. While we didn't spend anytime in the unit during the day because we were out exploring Belgium and Ghent we found it to be a wonderful place to have a lazy morning over coffee and breakfast while planning our adventures, and a perfectly appointed kitchen for a light evening meal over wine after a full day.
We actually walked to and from the train station each time, even when we first arrived. At most it was a 15 minute walk. The location is perfect for easy walking access to everything in central Ghent.
In addition to the Spar grocery that is close by it is easy to get to some of the organic ("bio") markets that are in the center of town from the apartment. Also great near the apartment is the Damme patisserie (which we frequented all too often!), a small cozy wine bar called Ona, and the delicious Green Way veggie fast food place. All of that was great.
There is a small elevator to help with luggage or if you're less mobile or prefer not to use stairs. The a narrow staircase is perfectly easy and functional for everyday use when you are not carrying cases.
We loved this home base in Ghent and highly recommend it! Whether its just two of you or more like four people traveling.
Dank u Nicky for everything!
I booked this apartment on the basis of the previous reviews and was not disappointed. This is without doubt the best self catering apartment I have ever stayed in. It is modern, spacious, well equipped, clean, comfortable and in a great location for exploring Ghent and the rest of the country. Ghent has an excellent tram system with stops only a very short distance from the apartment. The train station is only 5 minutes away by tram and the city centre even less although it only takes a few minutes to walk into the centre. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and a Spar supermarket only a couple of minutes walk away. If you arrive by car there is secure underground parking. Nicky the owner was extremely helpful and was keen to ensure that we enjoyed our stay both in her apartment and Ghent itself with several brochures available with ideas of places to visit, eat etc. If you want to visit Ghent and stay in a self catering apartment this should be at the top of your list.
My husband and I spent 4 nights at Nicky's apartment this month and were just amazed at how lovely it was and how perfectly located. It was huge, spotless and beautifully kept. Nicky was available to us at any time although we really didn't need any assistance because she had included manuals for all of the kitchen equipment and electronics. The floor to ceiling windows were amazing, particularly the one looking out over the canal. Secure underground parking suitable for a small car was also included. Shops and attractions were nearby. We would not hesitate to rent this apartment again and highly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of visiting Ghent.
