Peaceful, Beautiful Vacation Getaway at Lake Raystown, Pets Okay

Bedrooms 2
Half Baths1
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6) 4 Kayaks Available for Rent too!

This beautiful, quiet property is adjacent to the Raystown Lake Federal Lands* and in between the Marina and Resort areas. Stroll down a private, quiet country lane to your own entrance to the lake. You can hear the birds singing and the fish leaping out of the water! This is a great entrance for kayaking or just floating on the provided rafts. (We will rent up to 4 kayaks upon request, also.) And a perfect place for a private picnic! More to do can be found here: We also offer other amenities that you can add to your stay such as life vests, grocery stocking, and catering service (you must supply the requested menu for quote).

Just one mile down the road is the Aitch boat launch and fishing pier. A wonderful view of the tree covered mountains surrounds you. Public guided boat tours are available at the Marina and Resort areas.

You will truly enjoy the three HD TVs, the pool table, and the 4-person hot tub.

The master bedroom on the main floor has a queen bed and a large master bath w/ oversized Jacuzzi (non-jetted) tub, separate shower, walk-in closet and Kohler fixtures. This master bedroom has a sliding glass door onto a rear deck w/ beautiful view of the federal lands and a pond where you can frequently find a blue heron looking for fish.

The main floor has dining room & living room w/ gas fireplace. The modern kitchen has every convenience you need including an island w/ a Jenn-Air grill & gas range unit, a side by side refrigerator, built in microwave, built in oven, dishwasher, & garbage disposal. We also supply a drip coffee maker, rice cooker, crock-pot and other kitchen gadgets. This main floor has nice laundry room & separate half bath.

The second-floor loft contains two queen size beds and a large, full-size bathroom with a large shower. A convertible bed is in the living room for additional guests. Despite the number of beds, we will only rent to a maximum of six adults.

There is a screened in 3 seasons room w/ entrance off kitchen & dining room. This home has a heat pump, central air, central vacuum, ceiling fans, skylights & nice attached 26’ x 26' garage.

*Beginning summer 2017, the government is installing a pipeline under the lake and through surrounding lands. This work will run along the boundary of our property. We do not have any information on the timing, or when the work will be active at our house, although we are told the actual laying of the pipeline will only be 1 day at our house. Nonetheless, they have dug the route and it is unsightly. It does not affect our house otherwise, but I think it is fair to tell you. Hopefully, the project will be very quickly completed.

About Faith

Mom and wife with a beautiful family, cook, blogger, and attorney. Our favorite pastime is to eating, drinking and being merry. Doing it at the lake is a bonus!

Faith purchased this house in 2007

Why Faith chose Pennsylvania

The location provides for a quiet, peaceful stay. This is a 'get-away' property, and if you love wildlife, you can see Eagles, Bobcats, Fox, Deer and many smaller, beautiful critters by just strolling quietly in the woods. Of course, you have to know how to look for them. We love the lake and playing in the water.

What makes this house unique

The hot tub in the three seasons room followed by several rounds of pool while watching the big screen HDTV!

Lovely place for a getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We spent Memorial Day weekend here with another couple and thoroughly enjoyed the spacious home, the hot tub, the billiard table, and the access to the water down the road. We rented a pontoon boat one day from the marina 10 minutes away and enjoyed spending a day on the lake. We met Tony and he shared local tips with us and we enjoyed getting to know him a little. Faith, his wife, was great to interact with over email and great with communication. Highly recommend this area and this home!

Great weekend getaway no matter what the weather is..

  • 4 of 5

I have been renting from home way since 2004. The house was very nice and clean enjoyed the hot tub and the beautiful view. Gas fireplace was nice but the owner didnt reply back with some information we needed as we did not take our pet...and would have liked that fee taken off.. Over all a 4 star stay

Owner's Response: If I missed an email, I apologize, but I also provide both my telephone number and my husband's cell phone number so that you can reach us, anytime, as soon as the house is rented. If you had called either of us, we would have been happy to accommodate your change in plans.

Such a nice property!

  • 4 of 5

This house was great! My husband and I stayed with 3 friends of ours, and we loved the hot tub and the pool table. We also happened to have beautiful weather on a February weekend, so we were able to take advantage of the huge yard. And Wal-Mart isn't too far for the necessary food run!

Our only issue was that all of the pots and pans were extremely grungey. I e-mailed the owner and she responded within the hour pledging to replace them. Although this did slow down our cooking plans a bit, it was a small inconvenience in what was otherwise a great weekend.

Owner's Response: I must admit, I was unaware that the pots and pans needed to be replaced. The water in our area is extremely hard, so the cookware gets etched (maybe that's the wrong word) with mineral deposits and appears to be older than it is. It happened with our fixtures too, so we installed a water softener and replaced the toilets and showerheads a few years ago. We now have all new, shiny, cookware! I also alway appreciate when guests tell us what concerns them. As with the cookware, it wouldn't have occurred to me automatically, as I rarely cook at that house. We have fantastic guests and I always want all of you to have a lovely time at the house. Kind regards to all, Faith

Peaceful, Relaxing Get Away

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here for just a few days but couldn't have loved it more! Upon arrival everything was so clean and picturesque. Faith was so unbelievably helpful and was there 24/7 to answer any questions I had. I would 100% rent this house again in the future. HIGHLY recommended!!
