Photos and Description of this Ponte Agli Stolli holiday house

Whole house of about 100 square meters on three levels of a conventional type with 3 rooms.

Holiday home Casa del Ponte, tranquility and relaxation in the heart of Tuscany.

Have you ever experienced the feeling of coming home and find yourself in a cozy and comfortable, in the tranquility of a small, peaceful village, surrounded by beautiful landscapes and colors typical of an ancient land? This is Casa del Ponte.

In about 25 minutes you can reach Florence by highway and in just over 40 you can get to the wonderful city of Siena.

In the area you can find different attractions like Camping Girasole with pools and other activities, handling Old Texas and numerous restaurants for every price range. The village of Ponte agli Stolli has a minimarket with local cuisine and an excellent restaurant with bar.

And if you want to venture into the 'side selvaggio'del place there are many paths through our woods and a river near the house where you can swim in the summer thanks to its natural swimming pools carved into the rock by water over weather.

Our house is built on three floors.

The third floor has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a balcony from which you can admire the old part of our country and the valley below during a breakfast or a romantic dinner.

On the second floor is the entrance with a big kitchen and a bedroom with two single beds.

The first floor opens to a large living room with a comfortable sofa, a large armchair and a flat-LED 32-inch hi-fi. Next to the living room there is a small studio where you can find a bit 'of privacy to write or read. The living room has a secondary exit leading to the garden with a barbecue and a large pergola lit, perfect for a dinner with friends in the colors of the evening after a day of exploring our wonderful city.

La Casa del Ponte was built in 1890 and has recently been renovated with modern and exquisite materials have an efficient thermal insulation of the roof and our technological standards include independent central heating, air conditioning (brand new facility dual split inverter), washing machine, dishwasher , refrigerator with freezer, satellite TV, Smart Box with free subscription to Netflix and free wifi in every room (including the garden).

And 'particularly cool in summer and warm and cozy in winter thanks to its thick walls made entirely of stone and handmade bricks.

The main features of the house, however, are its spaciousness and brightness, almost all rooms have two windows that look out on opposite sides of the house.

Finally, our constant presence in the village for over forty years and the total knowledge of the area will ensure guests a complete service for every type of need or suggestion.

Charming and Welcoming

  • 4 of 5

This is a wonderful Tuscany home, full of authenticity and modern updates to make the stay comfortable, and the pictures are accurate. All three bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, with wardrobes and seating. There is a large bathroom connected to the master bedroom, and a second 3/4 bath that may be better used for a 2nd WC as the shower drain is the bathroom floor and seemed a bit unsafe, but we chose not to use that shower, so I can't confirm. The house is right on the main road, so easy to find, with a free community parking area a block away. The house has a lower level with game room full of board games and movies, a family room w/comfortable sofa and TV and a clothes washer. From there you access the back door, which allows safe passage to the parking via a paved sidewalk that skirts the back of the houses. There is also a fence yard with a BBQ grill and a place for the dog. The main floor of the house has a nice size kitchen and a bedroom with 2 twin beds. The kitchen has a gas stove, dishwasher, lots of counter & cupboard space, a large table, and a medium sized fridge. Very adequate for five of us, and we cooked several dinners and breakfast every morning. The top level has the other 2 bedrooms, each with Queen size beds, and the 2 bathrooms. Mario was very helpful in providing information, accommodating to my dog and the addition of my Mother-in-Law and an extra night, and he was very easy and enjoyable to deal with. The true bonus of the stay was Mario's Mother Carla, who welcomed us on arrival and ensured we knew how to reach her, where she lived (right in the town), walked us to the local market and the restaurant across the street, where she made our dinner reservations, and she even brought us some of her own fresh eggs for breakfast! She was a complete joy and brought a ray of sunshine into our day each time we saw her. Mario and Carla were both available if needed, but never intrusive. They both speak English. Florence is an easy 40 min train ride, and there are many locations reachable within 1- 1 1/2 hours or less by car. Very beautiful area, well worth the visit.

The house had everything we needed. Very charming, rustic and homely house with an equally charming host. Nice restaurant in town on weekends. Small town but best experience.

Lovely old home, with modern facilities and traditional charm in a great, non-touristic location

  • 4 of 5

This is a great location if you're looking for a more local style of living, away from the bustle of the bigger cities and attractions. That said, it's still only an hour or so from most of the main tourist spots (Florence etc). Mario was very helpful with the booking and arrival and his lovely Mum Carla was there to welcome us and help us throughout our whole stay. We travelled with our 15 month old son and his grandparents (4 adults in total) and the house was perfect for us all (and very child friendly - you can close all areas off easily), though the garden wasn't as child friendly as we'd hoped (just a little dry given it was the middle of summer and lots of big ants). It was great for us adults though. The house was cool enough during the hot (37°C!!) days and I am sure would be warm and cosy enough in the winter. Inside we spent most of our time at the beautiful long kitchen table, or downstairs in the very cool (temp.) lounge/play room with our son, or some wine and a deck of cards later in the days.. In terms of the general area, we visited lots of local villages (Radda is great, and there are many others) and also some larger places (San Gimignano is worth the drive). Be prepared to drive everywhere though, the only thing in this little village is a small Bottega and a pizzeria (which only opens Friday Saturday and Sunday). Overall, we had a really great time. It's a perfect spot if you want to be off the tourist strip but still with access to everything you need and more!

Simply amazing

  • 5 of 5

We spent 5 days in Tuscan staying in Ponte Agli Stolli in May 2015. It is a wonderful house in an amazing setting. Very well equipped and setup wonderfully. Wifi was fantastic. We were 2 couple traveling and found this house suited us very well. Convenient access to Figline and into Chianti countryside. We easily accessed Florence, Sienna, and San Gimignano. Mario's mother is an amazing lady, warm, welcoming and lots of information and history to share. This place was hands down our overall favourite.

Beyond Our Expectations! Absolutely Loved It!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5 stayed here for 4 nights in June 2015. We spent time in Rome before traveling here and went to Venice after. I wish we would have booked Casa del Ponte for our entire vacation! It was wonderful . Mario was a fantastic host and the house was more than we could have hoped for. It was spacious and extremely clean. The location was ideal for traveling the countryside. Florence is a 30-40 minute trip. Siena, San Gimignano and Greve in Chianti were also a very short car ride. It was a wonderful way to see Italy and a comfortable place to go back to each evening after a very busy day. The area is not touristy, which is a huge bonus. The little market had beer, wine, cheese and fantastic meats. The little restaurant down the road is beyond charming, but only open on the weekend. Mario's mother, Carla, made reservations for us. Make time to have a conversation with Carla. She is a gem. Our next trip to Italy will include a very long stay here. The house, location and Mario are the absolute best!

Bridge to Stolli is located in the heart of Tuscany, exactly in the middle between the provinces of Florence, Siena and Arezzo. Located at a strategic point, from access to all sorts of cultural and tourist attraction. 7 km you can find the town of Figline Valdarno with all types of equipment and the nearby motorway allows you to reach Florence in 20 minutes by car. Going in the opposite direction in less than two minutes you find yourself in the wonderful world of Chianti Classico with its centuries-old culture and its monumental landscapes. A 2 kilometers away is the famous Camping Girasole with all kinds of attractions and entertainment, even closer is handling Old Texas that also offers evenings of live rock music. The possibility of walking through forests and ancient villages are almost endless.

The village itself is also a gem of culture and a complete source of relaxation.

Built in the Middle Ages, the country still retains the charm of ancient times. Bisected by a creek that runs right in the old part of the village has all the facilities needed to adequately accommodate his guests. It has a food shop stocked with a variety of local specialties and a pizza restaurant run by the local community.

A note of relief is finally dedicated to the activity of the area food and wine, are in fact a variety of activities catering and food tasting from wine and other goodies characteristics of our area as olive oil and typical dishes.

During the autumn the surrounding places are filled with suggestive colors and reflections, all crowned by the various activities naturist typical of our area as collecting mushrooms and chestnuts with its precious and festivals inspired by these and other products.

During the cold season, when tourist activity is minimized, you can enjoy the warmth of the house in total silence that the village offers in this period.
