You’re sleeping soundly upstairs in your beachfront bungalow. You wake up and the first thing you hear are waves at your feet crashing down on the sand below your bedroom. You get out of bed and open the windows to see endless blue. The sun is shining. The monkeys are howling. You go downstairs, make some amazing Costa Rican coffee and sit outside on the breakfast bar watching the waves.
What happens next depends on your mood. Maybe you go for a walk on the beach, maybe you walk down the road to the local cafe for breakfast. Maybe you are here working from paradise, hopping on a zoom call with the actual ocean as your backdrop. Maybe you’ve got ants in your pants from being locked down for so long and want to go out exploring and try some of the many different local tours. Maybe you just want to lay in the lounge chair on the deck and soak in some sun reading your vacation book all day long. Whatever your choice may be you love winding down in a jungle vibe love shack with views of the starry skies at night.
This experience is perfect for adventurous travelers who are seeking to be immersed in nature while getting away from it all. Although this is not a hotel, there are some welcoming amenities such as snacks and beverages, bathroom goodies and daily housekeeping included with fresh linens provided daily if requested. There is air conditioning upstairs and downstairs to keep you cool anytime.
This place has something for everyone. Several hang out spaces, two outdoor showers and fun amenities such as boogie boards, beach chairs, big beach towels, blue tooth speaker, cable tv, crazy fast internet and more. A big comfy King size bed is in the bedroom which takes up the entire upstairs and has its own en suite half bath, while downstairs has trundle twin beds within the open living room/kitchen floor plan with a full ocean view bathroom. Whether you are coming on a romantic getaway or traveling with your kids this is the place for you.
Close by you can find fun local activities include surfing, fishing, sunset catamaran, jet ski, sailing, kayak, horse back riding, mountain bike, snuba (mix of scuba and snorkeling, both of which also available locally!)
It may seem you are at the end of the world in a cozy Blue Lagoon meets Castaway scenario but you have everything you need like restaurants, groceries, pharmacies and health clinics all within either walking distance, a short drive or even a delivery call away. Yes, you can even order pizza guilt free without ever leaving the comfort of the bungalow and eat it watching the sunset.
The bungalow is one of 5 houses located on Penca Beach in Tempate, Guanacaste. The property next door is where I personally spend a lot of time and where the housekeeping and security crew live along with the very cute and friendly but very effective guard dog, Guapo. The properties are separated by a large palm tree garden. You are in complete privacy but have someone 24/7 to help with anything you need a stones throw away.
The airport is just over an hour driving distance. You are also within a 5-30 minute drive from popular beach destinations like Las Catalina’s, Flamingo, Tamarindo, playa Grande and Avellanas. You are within reasonable 1.5-2.5 hours average per way driving distance of full day adventures to Monteverde Cloud Forest, Rio Perdido Thermal River or Rincón de la Vieja Volcano.
Most of the roads are asphalt but you will most likely encounter some off-roading, including driving on the actual beach to get to the bungalow. The “road” is sand which is why I strongly recommend renting a 4x4 when visiting the bungalow. There is a private parking area directly next to the bungalow which is also made up of sand. If you choose not to have a 4x4 you can park in the public parking area at the entrance of the beach, about a 4 minute walk to the bungalow.
Whether you are a seasoned traveler or this is your first time to Costa Rica message me if you have any questions! I love meeting new people and helping creating unforgettable vacations.
*** Please note there are times the beach is more private than than others. High season (Dec - May) on average has more people on the beach than low season (June - Nov) as would be excepted. National and international holidays attract larger crowds to the beach. The New Year time as well as Holy Week in April are the busiest times of year and are more suited for guests who enjoy people watching and are looking for some action.
Summertime runs from December - May and is very windy in the months of Feb and March. If you want mainly sunny days with bursts of rain showers in between then June through August are wonderful months.
The rainy season runs from June-November with Sept and Oct being the rainiest months. During Sept and Oct please be prepared for almost daily rain and tropical storms. Please send me a message and I’d be happy to discuss when would be the best time for your visit depending what you are looking for in your vacation!
