About James Parker

We are local family that enjoy the beach and outdoors. We have a 11 year old and an 14 year old so the home has plenty of kids items. There is a baby crib, high chair, books, games, some beach toys, and generally kid friendly. We purchased this home in 2001 and it has many great memories of raising our first born here. We love the friendly and close nit neighborhood and visit the home whenever there are openings.

James Parker purchased this house in 2001

Why James Parker chose Isle of Palms

A long time ago we came across an article in a magazine that talked about Isle of Palms being one of the best places to raise children so after having a wonderful visit- we decided to buy our first home here!

Guestbook comments from the manager

We stayed in our beach cottage and did more work this last week. We are happy to say that we now have a new stainless steel refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher in the kitchen. My husband put a new HDTV in the kitchen while I put fresh new linens in the kitchen cabinets. He threw away some of the older gaming items and videos and replaced with newer electronics. We fixed the handle that was missing from one the trundle beds a well as put a heavy duty curtain rod in the sunroom. By staying here we have found some of the smaller items that needed to be repaired. Somethings looked ok, but then when you actually used them they needed to be repaired or replaced. An example was the can opener looked fine, but then didn't work good so I replaced it. My huband also replaced the playset swings as they were started to get rusty (salt air is rough on items outdoors). He also deleted some older pictures and will be putting up some new ones soon.

End of the Year experience

  • 5 of 5

Each year I try to spend at least a week at my home to understand what the complaints and issues are that may arise from year to year, even though I only live a couple of streets away. You can walk by a sink a thousand times, but until you have turned it on and off to brush your teeth you won’t catch the small minor issues that it may have. During my stay this week, I used the hall shower. The issue of “not enough hot water” in this shower turned out to be that the last repair switched the hot and cold water. This meant that if you wanted hot water you had to turn on the cold and vice-versa. This issue was actually repaired before my arrival, but I took a hot shower in that bathroom just to make sure. The kitchen stools were recently recovered to freshen them up and the sofas were also steam cleaned. I was happy to be able to meet with the painting contractor, the handyman to fix a few things, and an outdoor living specialist to recommend some exterior upgrades. I had a great week and it was nice to fix some of the maintenance issues during my stay..

We really enjoyed our stay last week. This property is fantastic.

  • 5 of 5

Even though we didn’t have children or pets with us, the private fenced backyard/pool area and game room would be perfect for families with fur babies. We really enjoyed our stay. The golf cart was a big hit. Beach access was a 2 minute ride. The community was peaceful and quite. The home had plenty of space, towels and linens. We had everything we needed. Thanks again for a wonderful vacation!

Just ok

  • 3 of 5

While we certainly enjoyed being in the Isle of Palms, this house needs some improvement. In the master bathroom, there is a significant crack on the floor such that we had to put a rug or towel over it to prevent the possibility of anyone cutting their foot. In the bathtub area there was adhesive glue left on the wall which is unsightly. The design of the sink area has almost no counter space which is an inconvenience even though there is a wire stand next to it to hold personal items. The hallway bath water temperature never went beyond lukewarm. We were there in July 2017 and I noticed a similar complaint from someone who stayed there in May 2017. I would encourage the owner to have the cleaners do a more thorough deep clean on the floors, the high chair, and the living room furniture. The pool was not cleaned until later in the week which may be due to the pool company's schedule, however, it is disappointing to arrive and see the pool needs cleaning. There were no extra linens or blankets available. This house is conveniently located near the beach, however, it is not a 3 minute walk to the beach unless you normally walk fast. The golf cart was nice to have. This was an expensive house to rent for just being ok.

Nana

This property had everything that our family needed for our fourth of July vacation. Loved the location on the island. It provided the quiet and play yard that we needed for the little ones and the game room needed for the big ones. I would recommend this property to anyone.

Great place for a mother/daughter trip!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this property! It was the perfect fit for three mothers and their pre-teen daughters. The girls loved the pool and the golf cart. The mom's loved the ample seating, kitchen, and the three comfortable "adult" bedrooms. The beach is really close, and downtown Charleston is a quick drive. We would definately stay here again.
