The House

Slip into the Bajan groove at One Battaleys Mews, a Colonial style townhouse with contemporary décor and high-tech comfort just two minutes’ walk from an archetypal white sandy Caribbean beach

Though within easy reach of the restaurants, shops, and entertainment of the West Coast of the island, Battaleys Mews feels private and tranquil, tucked into a quiet neighbourhood in the parish of St. Peter.

Surrounded by exotic gardens, the mews are filled with indigenous plants and a few minutes’ walk is one of the best-known beaches on Barbados, namely Mullins, with the Mullins Beach Bar & Grill, water sports, sunbed hire and a small beach shack with various items for sale.

One of a handful of family-owned properties within the estate, this three-bedroom house with its recently refurbished rooms keeps a ‘home from home’ feel while staying contemporary and practical.

Alongside the well-equipped kitchen, the open-plan living area with contemporary seating and large dining table, the house has a terrace with a gas BBQ, seating, and ambient lighting alongside the Jacuzzi.

Parking for two or three cars is in the driveway.

The main bedroom has a large en-suite with bath and walk-in shower and balcony seating while the second and third bedrooms share a shower bathroom.

All bedrooms have sensor controlled air conditioning and all the windows have plantation blinds and mosquito grills.

The mews have a security and administration office within the clubhouse.

The clubhouse is in the heart of the mews, with a large swimming pool, smaller kids’ pool, and full changing and shower facilities.

The pool deck offers comfortable sun beds as well as a shaded lounge area where you can sleep.

There is also a small basic gym and children’s play area as well as the treehouse to spot the famous monkeys

The Bar at the Battaleys Mews clubhouse serves drinks and light snacks & sandwiches and ice creams

Tennis Court

There is a hard-surface tennis court. Court bookings and tennis lessons can be arranged by contacting the resort staff. The court is floodlit for evening games. Rackets & Balls are not supplied unless by prior arrangement.

Family and friends use this house alongside guests we have had for six years and from all over the world.

Care has been taken to decorate and furnish the house with high-quality appliances and a relaxing non-hotel feel.

It is not run as a commercial entity and only offered here to help with the running costs.

With everything in the kitchen and bedrooms you would like to have to hand, we did want to offer more than a generic standard rental unit, yet modestly priced.

We are always available to help with anything, either personally, or we pass on our guest’s detail with their consent to the concierge service at the local agents who look after our house.

They can recommend and book and barter for anything to do on the island but guests are in no way bound, and we can also offer impartial advice and ideas and we have a lovely housekeeper who is a font of information.

Barbados is arguably one of the most beautiful hosts to any democracy on Earth – a place where local fishers sit shoulder to shoulder with international celebrities in rum bars built on stilts overlooking palm-fringed bays, an isle where the great outdoor happy-go-lucky Caribbean culture is celebrated communally by rich and poor alike.

Tucked between the multi-million-dollar homes belonging to the rich and famous you will see the fish markets, shacks and rum bars that add the vital and wholly enjoyable touch of local colour, without which any location soon becomes bland and wearisome

At Speightstown, north of Battaleys, all of this can be seen and felt, but of course, a trip around the entire 166 squares miles is a must if you can

Lovely, well equipped house on small, quiet complex

The house is relatively new and this shows compared to many of the holiday places in which we've stayed on more established complexes on the West Coast. We really appreciated extra touches such as apple tv and the bose sound dock and the mosquito nets on the windows (which mean you can keep windows wide open after dusk without being bitten to death!). Plenty of space for our family of 2 adults and 2 children to spread out and the bedrooms are comfortable. The living space is nicely designed, sofa looks great, but not the best for lounging given the loose cushions! Kitchen is reasonably well equipped and there's a very easy to use BBQ - we had great fish from the local fish market. If you plan on doing washing, take a few washing machine capsules with you. Tricia was very nice and visited twice in 10 days - would have welcomed another housekeeping visit during our time in line with usual holiday rental set ups (2/3 x a week). Location is great for exploring the West Coast and is close to Speighstown and Mullins beach which is well set up for visitors ... though v. easy to spend $ there! The complex is very quiet and the pool area, though nice is quite small; our kids (11 & 9) were sufficiently entertained but not so great if you want to plough a few lengths. Being located within a local neighbourhood and relatively close to Speightstown we did get some distant music a couple nights; a juddery truck early in mornings/later in evenings on the track right behind the house a few times and cockerels and goats from a neighbour, so if you need complete peace and quiet be aware of this. We are quite noise sensitive, so we were a little disturbed, but really not drastically. The flip side of this is that though the complex (being gated and with v good & friendly security) feels apart from the neighbours, it is still nice to get a bit more of a glimpse of 'real' Bajan life compared with many holiday rentals on the island!

Beautiful house in fabulous Mullins Beach area

4 adults stayed at your beautiful house for two weeks

Loved the location near to Mullins beach walking distance and great for local buses to Spieghtstown and Hole town must try reggae buses an experience:)

Staff on complex always friendly and Teresa the housekeeper who visited several times very good and helpful if there were any issues or questions we had

Loved using pool area which was quiet but suited us if wanting a quiet time and spent many evening watching local monkeys swinging in trees at end of complex

Loved outside seating area and enjoyed many BBQ evenings when not visiting local restaurants

Best trip we did was an sunset cruise on a catamaran with Elegence great trip fab food alcohol a plenty after swam with turtles and only allows Max 12 on board well worth money

What can I see other then

Beautiful house, decorated & space.

I wanted to move in for good.

Paul is very helpful, efficient and quick to reply.

Battaleys communal pool,very quiet,is lovely and the tennis court is well kept.

Perfect Location quiet area near Mullins and st Peters Bay. Take a local bus on the Main Street easy and fun.The nearby Petrol station has bread/eggs/ rotis.

Speightstown (5 min on local bus) for supermarket and more bars.

What can I say else then, hope to come back soon to your wonderful place, maybe for our 1 year anniversary 😉򒐊

Loved the house, specially the outside sofa area. The house had everything that was needed and was like home from home. Paul, the owner, communicated very well and answered all my queries. Also loved the club house and pool area. It was never busy and sometimes had it to ourselves. We got to know Cathy, who was on the bar and was extremely nice and good at her job. Kristina handled our transport and also organised a rental car for us. If we ever were to return to that area, I would have no hesitation at staying at Battaleys Mews again.

Battaley best for us.

Paul's is a lovely elegant modern spacious house in small gated development. It was ideal for our 3 generational family stay. Our grandchildren made lots of use of the large and small pools and tennis court. We all loved seeing the green monkeys. The walk to Mullins beach and beach bar takes just a few minutes. We enjoyed the local areas plus trips further afield. We hope to return. Paul was very helpful and any problems were sorted out after an exchange of emails.

Fabulous Holiday Home in the Sun

We stayed at this lovely 3 bed house - 4 adults - for two weeks. The accommodation is great and the complex quiet but very smart. There is a shared pool with a day time bar available for all guests/residents.

There is a great tennis court and small gym (treadmill/stepper/Mats/Weights)

The staff are so friendly and there is 24/7 security if needed.

The house is privately owned but there is a local management company available for any problems.

We did have a few and apart from the broken microwave - which was not fixed - all the other issues were resolved.

The location is great for exploring Speightstown and the Northern end of the island and only 10 mins drive from Holetown.

There are a few beach bars serving drinks and great food within walking distance.

You need a car to get anywhere else though - unless you reply on the buses.

The complex is under administration but that didnt' seem to be a problem for us and there were a few other holiday makers staying in various houses.

We liked the peace and quiet!
