Home away from home
The rental was quite perfect in every way . It was just as depicted in the photos . We were amazed at how roomy and bright it is .
It is in a safe , quiet and walkable neighborhood.
The kitchen has everything one could need and all the items are very top quality
The beds were as comfortable as I’ve ever slept in
The screen porch is a restful haven with comfortable sitting and dining . The weather was near perfect during our visit and we dined in the porch often .
The house is “ Old Florida “ and beautifully decorated . We were very excited to learn the history of the area through the many books available In the home
The nearby historic downtown area was a fun place to stroll around and the restaurants we tried were great . The people are all friendly and we had many fun encounters with locals .
We are delighted to have stayed here and would recommend this rental anyone .
Thank you, Leigh. We were delighted to have you and your family stay in our home. We'd love to welcome you back at any time in the future.
My sisters and I had a great time staying here. Owner was awesome to work with. House was like the pictures. Owner recommendations were good. We had one small issue and Beth took care of it promptly and very well. Would recommend and would stay here again if in Deland again.
Jolene, we certainly enjoyed and appreciated having sisters' week at our bungalow. We'd love to have you return again in the future. Until then, safe travels.
2nd time we have stayed at the Flamingo Bungalow. Always a pleasant stay. Very clean and well appointed. Great location, close to everything! Looking forward to our next stay!
Thank you, Dave! We enjoyed having you all again this year. We're looking forward to seeing you again in the future. :-)
Large, clean and bright. The house is charmingly decorated and very well appointed. We can’t wait to return.

Hi there, my name is Beth. I’m the third generation owner of our family home. I grew up and lived in New Orleans for the most of my life, I went to college at LSU (Geaux Tigers!), but I’m in Texas now for a short time. I enjoy sharing our home with others and wish for our guests the same fun times and good memories my siblings and I experienced in this home and in DeLand with our grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins during the summers and holidays of our childhood.
Beth purchased this House in 2017
Why Beth chose DeLand
We did not choose this home, it chose us! We are the third generation to enjoy this home. Our mother grew up in DeLand, and her family were natives of DeLand for many generations. Although we were raised in New Orleans, my siblings and I spent our free time here during the summers and holidays with our grandparents, aunts, uncles & cousins. My grandparent's home, as well as DeLand, became a beloved second home to us. Fortunately, our grandmother lived to be 100-years-old. When she passed away, we were able to purchase her home from my aunt who inherited it. We wanted it to remain in the family so our children and grandchildren would have the opportunity to enjoy the same things we did as children, for a couple of weeks each summer. We plan to retire here one day. But in the meantime, we love sharing our home with our guests.
What makes this House unique
There are many things we love about it. We enjoy the natural light that floods the house. Even on cloudy days the house is bright and the feeling is joyful. We love the extra large living room space which allows us to spread out and relax, yet be together. The views from each room to the nearly 1/2 acre lot are are old growth trees and huge azalea bushes. Tropicals and ferns create a natural property line. We also love the large screened porch which has room to spread out for naps, to chat, play cards, dominoes or read a book. There is also a teak dining table to enjoy meals outside.
