The kitchen is stocked with the basic eating and cooking equipment, microwave, mini refrigerator, stove, and coffee maker. Outdoor charcoal grill and fire pit are also available for you use. You can occasional spot a bald eagle perched in the trees along the banks of the Holston River, observe river otters, water fowl (ducks, geese, herons), or deer wading the river. The cabin is only 1.5 miles from Interstate 40 (I-40) and minutes from downtown Knoxville and the University of Tennessee campus. Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park are just a short drive away. I-40 Interstate overpass is adjacent to the property. You can hear the traffic noise from I-40 and an adjacent highway. You will have full access of the entire cabin, dock and canoe ramp. The East Knoxville Fishing Club has access to the Holston River through this property, so it is possible to have a fisherman park in the area or at the canoe ramp for a few hours. The ramp is at the opposite end of the property from where the cabin is located. There is no cable TV (local channels only) and no wi-fi included; however, cell service is strong in the area.

Gem of a place!
We had a great weekend and the cabin that we stayed in made a big impact on that. It was secluded and private yet close to town. It was so nice to have privacy and scenery to enjoy. The cabin was quite spacious and located with a lovely view of the Holston River. My husband enjoyed fishing even though he didn't catch anything!! Just the location close to town and yet seemed so far away from the mainstream of the craziness of everyday life was wonderful! There is everything that you could possibly need within a 15 minute trip including Starbucks!

Knoxville Trip
This cabin was everything we could have hoped for. It was nice being just outside of Knoxville, but also having privacy in the woods. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for relaxation while staying in Knoxville.

Why they chose this property

The Cabin property and the 3 islands you can see from the front porch have been in the Armstrong family for over 4 generations. The islands are called Armstrong Island. The land was originally deeded to Frank Armstrong for his service in the Revolutionary War. There use to be a mill here, close to where the cabin sits. When the water is low, you can see the shoals that once was a road bed to the big island. The island was farm land where crops and livestock were raised.
