Why Vivien Roley chose Penzance
We had been talking about buying a holiday home abroad for years but never managed to find the time to really look at all of the potential locations. In May 2004 we took a short break to Mousehole with the kids and after just a few days we felt so at home we said ‘Why are we looking abroad when we have found Mousehole and Cornwall?’ When we decided to take the plunge and look for a home in Mousehole we had very specific requirements. We wanted somewhere that was cosy enough for 2 and yet with enough accommodation for our two boys and their friends, all of whom, we were assured, would want to join them! We wanted all of the traditional cottage features but with modern accommodation and facilities, close to the harbour and with a view to the sea. To much to ask? Almost but then we found 5 Regent Terrace, which we have appropriately re-named Seamore Cottage. Almost immediately we had enquiries about holiday letting but we decided that as this was to be our home too, we would spend about 6 months re-fitting the cottage to a standard that we, and others, would appreciate.
What makes this Cottage unique
Seamore Cottage, which has been the home of Mousehole mariners for over 150 years, is about 80 odd paces from the harbour front and there are a number precious parking spaces close by. The cottage was completely rebuilt in 1999 transforming the accommodation but retaining the original features. I try to go down to Mousehole whenever there is a vacancy and I have fallen in love with waking up in the morning and sitting on the window seat with a cup of tea in the front bedroom and watch the fisherman go out. Mousehole is simply beautiful and tiny as it’s name suggests. Known as one of the loveliest coastal villages in England it’s granite cottages, with unique slate roofs cluster around the harbour, along narrow streets and cobbled lanes. The pretty harbour, where colourful, bobbing fishing boats glitter in the crystal clear Cornish sunlight, has a safe sandy beach, ideal for kids of all ages enclosed by a granite harbour wall with the smallest of openings onto Mounts Bay. The village has a couple of handy shops, a post office and newsagents, some fine restaurants and a wonderful pub, The Ship Inn, where a warm welcome, good service and hearty meals are assured to locals and visitors alike. Mousehole is surrounded by a lovely coastline, designated an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ by the National Trust. There are two more beaches close by, with rock pools that will keep youngsters entertained for hours.

Stunning area and beautiful home from home💚
Stayed for a long weekend and have to say, we really enjoyed everything about the area and the people were so very friendly. The accommodation was perfect. Beds were clean and comfortable, which for me is a priority. The rest of the home was very adequate and had everything you would need and more!
Once booked, the host was easily contacted and response was almost instant. All in all, perfect stay for us.
Lovely cosy cottage, just perfect for the 6 of us
Great location, well equipped, useful information provided
Cozy and roomy cottage walking distance from village of Mousehole
Cottage is so quaint and cozy but also roomy, we stayed with our kids, living space is perfect without us feeling like we were on top of us,
Bedrooms all large sizes with our own en-suite in the master bedroom.
Walking distance to Mousehole village with cafes and shops.
Didn't see the comment on towels but we got sorted....
Lovely cottage, perfect location
We had a lovely stay. The cottage had everything we needed (though we hadn’t realised towels weren’t provided-our fault-not owners!) the cottage was spacious and clean and Mousehole was delightful. A really wonderful place to stay.
Full of character, clean and tidy
Our second visit which we have enjoyed very much. A comfortable cottage full of character, lovely bedrooms with great holiday feel. On suite refurbished since last stay in July 2015 and various tweets to decor etc so always fresh.
Look forward to staying again
Thank you , it was lovely to welcome you back .
Cosy cottage full of Cornish character.
We had a lovely time in Seamore; the cottage has everything you need. We got married during our stay and as soon as we arrived we found a card and a bottle of prosseco waiting for us on a kitchen table! The small bunk bed bedroom gets stuffy quickly and is difficult to air as the only window ia a small sky light window which can only be reached standing on the top bed. When it is open there is still very little draft so our relatives slept with the bedroon door open. Otherwise, we liked everything else about the house, the owner replies to messages very promptly and we would reccommend her cottage.
