Book this place immediately!
This property and home was absolutely spectacular. We felt like royalty. Sandy was phenomenal! So kind and helpful and available for anything we needed. I truly wish I could live here and never leave. The home is fantastic, huge and perfect for a large family. We joked about having my wedding here and if we weren’t from California I definitely would have wanted it here. Choose to stay here over anywhere else and you will thank me later.

Family Getaway
We had a lovely stay at Dunkerron. The accommodations were beautiful, and we felt like royalty. The garden is spectacular with all the flowers in bloom. We had fires in the evening and enjoyed every room. The walk to the water is a good hike but nice to be able to enjoy the property. Sandy also said we could drive down if we wanted to take a picnic. Thanks for sharing the beautiful historic home with us!

Trip of a lifetime
My family of 14 gathered in Kenmare at this beautiful estate to share time where their dad was raised. The Dunkerron property was magnificent and we enjoyed walks, fireside gatherings, and exploring the beauty of Kerry together! Sandy, the property manager, was so helpful and informative. We can’t wait to return!

Divine Dunkerron
I saw this property on VRBO while searching for a holiday venue for a family of 15 who had not been altogether since July 2019. It seemed expensive & I was worried about mixed weather but I could not settle for anything less, having seen it. And it was worth every penny & the sun shone… & shone. The setting is breathtaking - with the pale moon rising above the blue mountain nightly, just for us. The house is spectacular & spacious, & the decor meant that even the 3 teenagers were keen to maintain high standards. A selection of the paintings was copied by the children- the pig in the kitchen being the most popular ! We swam in rivers, lakes & sea ( loved Derrynane). We ate at The Boathouse, the mobile Fish & Chip Bar, No35 & Poffs . We had meals on the terrace , including the barbecue. It wa a memorable week - a delayed 70th birthday combined with a 50th wedding anniversary celebrated daily, & we loved every minute! Thank you Moyà & Kathy. 💕☘️💕

About the host

Dunkerron was owned by my Mum who ran it as a guesthouse for many years. It was host to many gueats over the years, all of which went home with great memories. My Mum still gets letters from all over the world from the friends she made when she ran it. After major damage during a storm five years ago we made the decision to renovate the house so that it could once again be enjoyed. As I live in Limerick it was not an option for me to open Dunkerron as a guesthouse again so we made the decision to offer it to families and groups of friends on a self catering basis.

Why they chose this property

There is nowhere like Dunkerron. The house was built overlooking the ruins of Dunkerron castle, which was destroyed by it's occupants (the O'Sullivan Mór clan) in the mid seventeenth century to avoid its capture by Oliver Cromwell and his army. It is a unique property on 60 acres bordering Kenmare Bay. There is a lovely walk through the woodlands to the shore where the brave can swim when the tide is in. If you are lucky you might meet a deer or two on the way down. There is nowhere more peaceful to relax with friends and family than Dunkerron.

What makes this property unique

The house itself is absolutely unique with great character yet includes all modern comforts. Open log fires, a games room and and the conservatory all contribute to the ambiance of this great house and allows everybody their own bit of space.
