Good stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Angela's apartment for one month and really enjoyed it. A couple times we had a little issue with internet (which was from company) she was there immediately to call them and deal with it. Any time I called for any reason I must say her response was immediate.

The apartment itself is very nice and perfect location.beautiful view from living room and kitchen. Elevator was always in working condition which was great. Very safe and quiet. Hot June so we asked for a fan that she brought right away. We never ended up using the sofa bed. I would update the furniture in bedroom and put new pillows etc but Overall a great stay with wonderful host! Thank you Angela and we will be back!

Great apartment, location, and hostess

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was wonderful, literally down the street from the Duomo. The building has an elevator and is centrally located in Florence. We walked everywhere, including the train station, and never felt like we needed a taxi or bus. Great restaurants nearby, including the Crazy Cage around the corner which is only open for lunch (tell Andreas high for us!). Angela, who we coordinated the apartment with, was excellent. Excellent in answering questions and responding before booking, and excellent at check-in and check-out. Plus, the apartment was well stocked with dishes, coffee and the Italian espresso/coffee pot, and spices. I like the expresso pot so much I bought one to bring home with me. There is a small grocery store nearby, and everything in Florence is within reach. Angela was also able to recommend a tour company a couple of blocks away (there is also one on the same block) and their service/tours were excellent. We did a tour of the Duomo with the three of us and two other couples, which was well worth it to avoid the lines and have a truly expert guide. We also did a winery tour with the same company. The apartment is one bedroom and one bath, and there is at least one futon in the living room. There is a second sofa also, but we never checked to see if it was a futon or not. Overall a very comfortable apartment in a great location with a superb hostess. Highly recommend.

Great location, amazing host!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in Angela's apartment! The location is fantastic, walking distance from everything you want to do in Florence. Also, very quiet. It is huge - more than enough space for the 4 of us. Angela is a wonderful host- available, helpful, and a great communicator. This is a 3rd floor apartment, have to walk up a short flight of stairs to reach the elevator.

I am a Canadian teacher who rented this apartment for 5 months with my Maltese dog. I found this place to have several issues and inconveniences. Angela and her father, owners of this apartment, are very ungrateful, ungracious, discourteous, and unappreciative hosts.

Angela did not know how the washing machine and oven worked and I was told to read the manual to figure it out.

During my stay she never once sent me an e-mail or phoned asking if everything was alright and to give her a call if I ever needed help or anything. The only time I heard from her was a day or two before the rent was due asking if she could stop by at a certain time and the day so she could collect.

No blankets were supplied even though I asked and I had to borrow 2 from a friend of mine that lives in Florence.

Her father told me not to raise the thermostat above 20 because NO ONE in Florence does. Temps this winter did dip to 4 degrees C many nights.

A week and a half after arrival construction work began next door and continued for 10 days beginning at 7:30 a.m. with jackhammering, banging, drilling, etc., which shook the walls and scared my dog. I was ready to move out but was told it would stop stop shortly.

When my friend arrived from Barcelona to stay with me for 8 days she was charged each night of her stay. Angela did not warn me about this even though I had informed her 2 months prior to her visit. She placed me in a very embarrassing situation. My friend's sister and brother-in-law rented the apartment next to me so I even brought Angela business.

On 3 separate occasions there was no water in the apartment. Couldn't even flush the toilet.

I left to spend the Easter holidays down in Rome with friends and cousins. I informed Angela about this on Easter Thursday and told her I would contact her as soon as I got back. Easter Saturday I received a text message from her stating that she had made an appointment for a computer technician to check the router and he would be at the apartment the following Friday. From Saturday until Wednesday she sent 6 messages. I wrote stating she could let him in supervised by her. She kept harassing me because the rent money was due Easter Sunday and I was not there. She told me she did not have an extra key to enter. Of course this was not true. I returned Wednesday for her benefit. There were only 19 days left before my departure.

There are cheaper and better places to stay in the centre.

Owner's Response: I am really disappointed reading these comments. My main goal is to welcome and give always the best service to my guests. I have always tried to meet Rosemary’s needs, even though she has always been very pretentious, disrespectful and despising and complaining about Italian people and amenities and services provided in this country. Actually we have always been willing and helpful during her stay: - Twice she got sick and we asked if she needed medical assistance (she answered She preferred to suffer instead of being examined by an Italian doctor) - Once my dad offered lunch in a fish restaurant - My boyfriend and I moved her luggage and all her staff with my car from her previous house - I rushed to help when also some mosquitos were harassing her. - After she had seen personally the apartment, and having said it was perfect, she sent me several lists of extra things she wanted me to buy for her, i.e. an extra blanket to cover her legs while seated on the sofa, a towel for the dog, a sieve for spelt, a “special” dish for when she cooked the omelet to flip it, a grocery cart (which has even disappeared…) and all this has been bought to make her happy!!! Actually I could not stop refurbishing works in public offices “Ministero delle Opere Pubbliche” in the building next to mine. I understand the inconvenience she went through for a week out of 5 months, but the workers were respecting schedule and procedures established by law. Just to be clear, Italian law for the environment establishes that during winter months, temperature public and private buildings must not raise above 22°C. When my dad went, there were 25 and this was not enough to her. As far as people she decided to invite to spend holidays staying in the apartment without informing me, I may only say that I am the manager of this property and I have the duty to be informed and aware and to register any person sleeping and staying in the house (as provided by law). There are rules to be followed. Apart from the price point: the renting price is per person. Renting for 1 person and staying in 2 o more is not correct. We have been told by other guests she has not been respectful, often forgetting the doors of the elevator open stopping it, watching TV too loud, and the dog peeing inside near the main door downstairs. No way to communicate with her by phone calls and sms...she never aswer. Actually, I won’t write any further but I would not recommend Rosemary as a guest.

In the heart of Florence, you will be just steps from the Duomo and all the monuments, museums and churches of the old town. But Florence is not only this, but also a great starting point to explore the surrounding hills and enriched with eno-gastronomic and wonderful nature walks.
