About this property

Originally built as a whaling captain's home, the Captain Alexander Bacon house combines old world charm with modern living. The home is located on a private acre right in the charming and quaint village of Osterville. Walk to town for breakfast, use the included Barnstable Resident Beach Passes to go to one of the 16 Barnstable residents-only beaches including beautiful Dowses Beach less than a mile away, and relax at the end of the day around the fire pit in the back yard.

The home features an outside shower, fire pit, play structure, beach gear and everything you need for your beach vacation. There is a downstairs (master) queen bedroom as well as four upstairs bedrooms including one with a queen bed, one with a twin bed, one with two twin beds which connects through a doorway to another bedroom with a queen bed. There are two full bathrooms and one bathroom with a shower and an outside shower. The house is air conditioned with window units.

Perfect cape house!

Stayed here over Christmas with my family since we all have small apartments and no one can host. Really homey and cape-y and it was perfect for us. Really nice location, we were able to walk around the downtown Osterville area, which is so cute. Shannon replied to all my questions so quickly and was flexible for an early check in on Christmas Eve. We had a great time.

Unbeatable Location!

The house is older, but without a doubt charming. Understanding the Cape and the historical aspect a lot of homes tend to have, you need to understand that beforehand. But the location is truly unbeatable. Walking distance to Main Street, shops, restaurants, a bakery, different coffee options, and in nicer weather, the beach. The owner was also flexible and accommodating when it came to check-in and check-out times. Thank you so much!

Great Cape House!

Great property on the cape, in Osterville! As close to town as can be, and only a 5 minute drive to the beach! The resident beach pass was super handy, and the house was spacious inside and out to accommodate my group of friends for the holiday weekend!

A wonderful time on the Cape

I had a great time at this cape property with my family. We loved the closest beach (Dowses) which we drove to with the beach pass, or after 4pm when the gates were just open for all. The house was old but charming, with everything you need and quite a lot of space to hang out in. We used the grill, the fire pit, all the chairs and just had a blast.

Recommended home in Osterville

The property was lovely, interesting, fully equiped and immaculate. It was close to a beautiful beach, to shops and to anything else you might want. Shannon, the owner, was a dream to work with: kind, clear and helpful. Her home reflected the thought and care she and her family had put into it. It was a pleasure to spend time there.

We fell in love with this house because we loved the charm of the home, the fabulous location right in town and the lush, spacious lawn that gives you a feeling of privacy right while you're right in town. We also love the town of Osterville - it's beautiful, quaint and charming and Dowses Beach is our favorite beach on all of Cape Cod. We love everything about our Osterville home!
