Our favorite vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time at this cabin in Flam! The view was OUTSTANDING! It was just so beautiful! The cabin itself was very clean and comfortable. For those that may have mobility issues, it might be helpful to know that the stairs to two of the bedrooms are very steep. However, the bathroom, living areas and one of the bedrooms are all on the ground floor. Anders stopped by and showed us how to use the kitchen appliances, and gave us instructions on using the boat. (Yes, there is a boat included in the rental! How cool is that?) We had a very nice visit with Anders and appreciated him stopping by. The cabin was a short walk from the train station/ferry landing. We walked there with no problem, pulling a couple of small suitcases with us. We had a wonderful time at this cabin -- from just sitting in the comfortable living area and looking out at the wonderful, beautiful view of the fjord, to riding all around that fjord in the supplied boat. It was relaxing and exhilarating and fun. Thanks, Anders, for your help and for allowing us to stay in your cabin. We would LOVE to stay there again and hope to return one day!

Best holiday cottages in Flam!

  • 5 of 5

We spent two weeks in cottage no. 1 and think that these are the best holiday cottages in Flam! The position of the cottages on the fjord is fantastic, providing a constant parade of ships, ferries, boats and people to watch. It is about a 5 minute walk to the visitor information centre, Flam railway, bike hire, ferries, bars, restaurants, food vans and a small but adequate supermarket. If you have a car there is a better supermarket in Aurland, which is about 10 minutes drive away. The cottage was exactly as shown in the photos on the website - clean, comfortable and with everything you need for a self-catering holiday. Anders and Sue were the perfect hosts, providing help and information when needed. Anders made sure we knew how to operate the boat safely and we took it out onto the fjord to try fishing a couple of times (unfortunately without luck). Hiking in the area was good, although the trails are not as well made or marked as in other parts of Norway that we visited. We bought a hiking map from the visitor information centre which provided a good place to start looking for hikes, but Anders is very knowledgeable in this area so I would ask him for help if hiking is what you want to do. I highly recommend these cottages for a self-catering holiday in Flam.

Fabulous Flam!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, 2 children (aged 13 and 10) and I spent a week in one of these lovely cottages in Flam. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed and it has the most magnificent views down the fjord. So, even though we didn't have the best week of weather, we loved sitting in the living area and just reading and relaxing and enjoying the views. The cottage is within walking distance to the town where there are some touristy shops and some restaurants as well as a small general store and "viking" pub. You can also walk to the train station and we would highly recommend hiring bikes in the town and catching the Flam railway up to the last stop (the train has a special compartment for bikes) and riding down part of the Rallarvegen road back to Flam. You do need to be reasonably confident on a bike but it was one of the highlights of our time in Flam. Another "must" is to catch a ferry from Flam down the nearby UNESCO World Heritage listed Naeyerfjord and get the bus back to Flam.

Anders was a wonderful host and in fact he went "above and beyond" when he mailed my phone back to me after I accidentally left it behind in the cottage. He also showed us how to use the little outboard boat that came with the property and my husband and son had fun puttering about and attempting to fish. He and Sue have also prepared their own very comprehensive list of things to do in and near Flam. I would highly recommend a trip to Norway and staying in these cottages.

wauw, wat een ervaring!

  • 5 of 5

Wij komen terug!
