Five Stars all around
We enjoyed a fantastic vacation filled with kayaking, bonfires, and fun family time. Kids loved the puzzles and books provided by our wonderful hosts and everyone had a great time playing games. Definitely recommend this spot for your next family trip.

Great Cabin with Lake Access
I enjoyed our stay at this cottage. It was very nice and four adults and four kids under nine fit well. The lake is small but that made it east to navigate with the four kayaks and paddle boat which came with the rental. The hosts were very accommodating and communicated well. The location is a bit remote and the town of Big Rapids does not have much to offer. If you are looking for a quiet getaway this is a great option.

Feels far away, but is so very close to everything
Carol and Sean are the best hosts. I could just stop there. Communication with them from the beginning when we booked until yesterday when we got home was perfect, like chatting up an old friend. The property is charming, spacious, and comfortable on the inside. On the outside, it feels like you're in the UP, yet somehow you're just 50 miles north of GR, 6 miles from a Meijer (shout out to Samantha at Shipt), and 4 miles from a proper village-like downtown and major medical facility (in case of emergency). The lake is cool and refreshing, the grounds meticulous landscaped, the porch swings unbeatable, and the wildlife impressive (a birder's delight, eagles, ducks, turtles, fish etc). I don't even enjoy being outdoors and still I spent the entirety of our stay during the day and evening outside. Bonfire pit is well supplied with wood, roasting sticks, and pie makers. The garage by the lake has every game and floating device you need and a boat is available for rent making this a very convenient property. The screened in porch, fully stocked kitchen, and enormous gas grill make this place just like home. Beds were comfy, showers hot, towels fluffy. A little more living room furniture would have come in handy for us in the evening with 5 adults and a kiddo in town, but we absolutely got by without incident using the dining room chairs, to play games and watch some British crime dramas before bed. A worry-free, affordable vacay is within reach here. Thanks Carol and Sean!

Great trip North
We have been taking Michigan vacations for many years but had never been to Big Rapids. We loved the property and the town. The beautiful log home was easy to get to, and enough distance from town to feel private. The beach and the yard and the big porch room were fantastic. The house was clean and easy to navigate. We had 6 people on this trip and the house held us easily. Carol was a great host, checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed before and during the stay. A great visit and vacation!

Great cottage for young families!
This well cared for home has much to offer families with young children…a sandy beach, very shallow waters to play in, sand toys, puzzles, indoor and yard games, a spacious back room with a foosball table and a large yard to play in. They have kayaks and a four-seater paddle boat to enjoy on the calm waters. Our family enjoyed the pontoon and fishing. It’s a small lake, but peaceful and quiet. Highly recommend this cottage!
