We had a great experience. Our driver was excellent. The host And staff catered to our every need. We had meals cooked for us at the Villa. We got to enjoy many local dishes. They catered to our every need. We were truly pampered.I would highly recommend.
Beautiful property and gardens
Lovely villa for 8 people, the setting of the pool in lush green gardens is perfect for relaxing. The pond was an added bonus for the kids and the atap/treehouse down by the beach is a lovely place to drop off to sleep with a sea breeze drifting by. Mery and Koman did a great job of looking after us; nothing was too much trouble and they produced delicious breakfasts, lunch and dinner, catering for our slightly fussy kids as well. We did struggle to go out given their fantastic cooking as well as the lovely dining area as the sun set with great lighting and peace and quiet. Aircon was very effective throughout along with the fans and everywhere was absolutely spotless.
Minor criticisms would be that the bathroom adjoining the master bedroom upstairs might not be to everyone's taste (us uptight Brits) as it is quite "open" to the rest of the house. The two downstairs rooms are adjoining, so perfect for kids + parent combo. However, the fourth bedroom is in a very cute small cottage just adjoining the property. This is perfect if you were a group or friends or perhaps had brought relatives without kids along, but it would make things quite difficult if your set-up was two families both with young kids.
It's nice to be right on the beach BUT at the time we visited it was quite a mess due to recent big storms that had washed a lot of debris up. Lots of holidaymakers/villa renters were doing a bit of a clean-up on the occasions we walked along.
A Truly Wonderful Experience
My wife, 10year old daughter and I enjoyed every aspect of our stay in Villa Buka Kecil. All our needs were accommodated, from start to finish. The owner, Ms. Van Velsen, provided all necessary information prior to our visit, and also arranged for a driver to transfer us from the airport to the villa.
On arrival we were met by Mary and the staff, who made us feel welcome from the outset. The villa itself is beautifully designed, and comfortably furnished. The outside areas are perfect for dining and relaxing, and the beautiful infinity pool a delight. The garden is large, richly planted, and immaculate, with the bonus of direct access to the beach. As the villa was quite remotely located, it was comforting to know that there was a security guard on duty every night.
Mary’s amazing cooking was beyond praise and added an unexpected positive dimension to our stay. She even arranged a cake to celebrate my daughters 11th birthday, which fell during our stay. Our every need was attended to, including arranging site seeing trips, visits to local restaurants and spa treatments.
In truth, we cannot recall a holiday where all of our needs were taken care of so completely. Thank you.
Perfect for our needs
Sublime place. Lovely staff. Wonderful food.
Perfect beach Villa Buka Kecil
What a beautiful villa with a beautiful garden. Really a picture. We were received very hospitable by Mary and the rest of the staff. The rooms were clean, large and complete. The bathrooms (partly outside) were top notch. For Mary and the staff nothing was too much, they made delicious meals and provided us with information about the area. We were completely unburdened, in short a vacation with capital letter V.
A home away from home with the most amazing staff
Where to begin, first let's begin with the property and how beautiful it is with an amazing garden to wander in. The villa sits on 2,500sq/meters of meticulously maintained nature by Pak Putu, a gardener that must have created earth in a former life. Then the villa itself, build Balinese style but with a European touch, very open and spacious. Enough rooms to fit an extended family of 9 (7 adults and 2 kids). The very romantic guest house was on everyone's wishlist and we had to draw straws for it. But then, the staff of the villa, they were the cherry on top of our stay. Meri who was in charge of cooking and Komang in a supporting kitchen role and both also for housekeeping. As soon as you woke up your beverage of choice was already waiting for you. Then breakfast, the most delicious fruits, pancakes, toast (from the German bakery), scrambled eggs and a freshly prepared fruit juice (watermelon, orange or mango) on the table outside were waiting for us. Some of us woke up by plunging into the pool which in contrast with other pools was created to perfectly blend with the garden and looked more like a beautiful pond. Lunch, we sometimes had a club sandwich with fries and on other occasions a more Balinese lunch with spring rolls, lemper and pisang goreng or soto. Dinner was also very much to look forward to, with Balinese chicken we can recommend or nasi goreng with sate, bami goreng with babi pangang or ajam pangang and last but not least the best dish in the world, rendang sapi. Just ask Mari and she'll make it happen. You can even refer to me (Nevlynn) and she'll walk you through all the delicious food we have had. We have come to see Meri, Komang, Pak Putu and Komang Novi (also helps out in the villa but works at the snackbar) as close friends. We will always keep them in a special place in our hearts and will fondly think back to our days in the villa. If you feel or have ever felt doubt to stay in this villa, silence that tiny voice. This will be one of your best choices you will ever make when choosing a holiday destination.
Villa Buka Kecil is located right on the sandy beach, close to Lovina center (10 min. driving), the touristic town on the north coast known for the many dolphins you can see in the morning at sunrise.
The surroundings provide ample scope for exploring, discovery and activities. Beautiful beaches, terraced rice-fields, plantations, mountains, temples and some nice villages and towns are close by, such as Lovina and Singaraja. This old capital of Bali is home to the Gedong Kirtya library where you will find the famous Lontar Manuscripts. South of Singaraja you find he most spectacular waterfall of Bali, the Git Git waterfall.
About 10 minutes from the villa the Buddhist monastery, Brahma Vihara Arama, also called the little Borobodur, is worth a visit, just as the famous Hot Springs of Air Panas which are 5 minutes away. You will find wonderful snorkelling and diving sites, such as Menjangan Island nearby and also one of the finest golf courses in Asia, the Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club, is just an hour's drive away
Other Activities: Snorkelling, beach strolls, dolphin trips, swimming with dolphins, rice field tours
In Bedugul, at about 1 hour drive from the villa, you find a beautiful 18-hole golf course called 'Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club”. This golf course is among the top-5 courses in Asia and is designed by the renowned architect Peter Thompson. The golf course is beautifully located on a mountainside at a height of more than 1,100 meters.
The north of Bali is still authentic and you can experience the real Bali sphere here because the north has not yet the mass tourism like in South Bali.
