We're located just 3 minutes from the town of Gunnison as well as the Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport. Just a few miles downstream the Gunnison River flows into Colorado’s largest body of water, known as Blue Mesa Reservoir where sight seeing, boating, sailing, and fishing abound. If you’re inclined for a game of golf you’ll be excited to know that we're actually surrounded by the Dos Rios golf course where the public is welcome.
Fishing – ESPN recently ranked the Gunnison River as 'the best overall freestone trout river in America'. The famous blue ribbon waters of the Gunnison River offer trophy Brown, Rainbow, and Cutthroat trout literally within 50 feet of the house. Within 30 minutes drive you can also be on the Taylor River, East River, Spring Creek, Lake Fork of the Gunnison, or Blue Mesa Reservoir. The possibilities are simply endless. Also, if you happen to stay with us in the September-November timeframe you can catch the Kokanee salmon in the river as they make their way upstream to the Roaring Judy hatchery. Picture yourself spending a day from dawn to dusk with great fishing, rafting, kayaking, hiking, skiing, exploring abandoned goldmines, or just relaxing on the deck and listening to the river.
Skiing – Just a short 30 minutes away is the picturesque town and resort of Crested Butte. Crested Butte features some of the finest snow skiing and snowboarding in the country. Crested Butte is not only known as the 'Last Great Colorado Ski Town' it offers an amazing shopping experience with its prominent Victorian architecture within the ever popular Crested Butte's national historic district. You'll pay a fraction of the cost with us, versus lodging in Crested Butte. In fact, this home would cost upwards of $800/night in Crested Butte.
Hiking and Biking Adventures - The Hartman Rocks, visible from the front yard, provides a high-desert (8,000 ft above sea level) riding/hiking adventure over a 6,000 acre basin. Diverse options include both miles of smooth, sage-lined single track to concentrated slick-rock technical sections. Trails are for bikers, runners, hikers and there are climbing/bouldering areas as well.
