About this property

Sunny Lakefront Home with Ocean Moorage

Family Paradise or Tranquil Retreat - Lakefront House on Large Forested Lake and Ocean Property

West coast forest, hills and ocean/lake shore to explore, an island in a warm lake within swimming reach, a deepwater dock with boat launch, free use of kayaks, canoe, windsurfer and boat, log-built lakefront home, peace, quiet and stunning scenery. All this can be yours - one week at a time.

Bold Bay Lakehouse is a 1550 ft 2 vacation home nestled in forested property uniquely trimmed by both lake and oceanfront. Set on Village Bay Lake, this well equipped log home is the perfect base for exploring island living on the west coast.

Wake up to a steaming cup of Quadra Island-roasted coffee and a sun-filled panoramic view of the lake from the wrap-around sundeck. Next, slip into the warm and tranquil water and take a lazy swim to the small island mere meters from shore. From here, let the adventure begin. An easy climb up leads to more fantastic views and an exhilarating cliff-jump. Looking up and shading your eyes from the sun, you might catch sight of one of the Ospreys that fish the lake; or a pair of river otters playing on the dock, or a beaver lazily swimming down the calm lake.

Bold Bay Lakehouse sits on Village Bay Lake which connects to a park-protected chain of lakes. The chain provides excellent day or overnight canoeing and kayaking opportunities, with calm warm water, sandy beaches, rocky bluffs and access to hiking trails leading to view points and the ocean.

Tear yourself away from the Lake to enjoy an easy BBQ lunch and a myriad of provided games on the fully landscaped and grassy yard. Take your pick from badminton, croquet, bocce, beach volleyball and more. An afternoon hike can be followed by a drive (or boat ride) into town where you'll find it easy to pick up both basics and luxuries including fresh produce and other delectable treats at the weekly Farmer's Market. By late afternoon, you may find yourself choosing from a provided canoe, kayak, windsurfer, or small rowboat, or your own feet for a little ocean exploration.

With views of the ocean and Bold Island, the varied shoreline of sheltered Crescent Channel (also called Bold Bay), provides fantastic beachcombing and excellent southerly exposure. An on-property deepwater dock with boat launch is available to those who want to take advantage of some of the best salmon and prawn fishing on the coast, or just get a little closer to the marine life. You may choose to bring your own boat and arrive by boat. The southern shore of Quadra Island, and other nearby Discovery Islands are home to some of nature's most spectacular wildlife including bald eagles, dolphins, orcas, porpoises, and seals.

Before you leave Bold Bay's sandy beaches, be sure to rake for clams and pick some oysters - they are delicious and can be easily prepared in the lakehouse's fully equipped kitchen (including deluxe gas stove, fridge and dishwasher) and enjoyed overlooking sunset on the lake from either the sundeck or lake view dining room.

Feeling deprived of the day's news and e-mails from friends? Turn on the satellite TV or radio. Local telephone calls are free. Long distance call can be made using calling cards, or direct at a cost of 5 to 10 cents per minute for most calls (calls to cell phones are more expensive).

The king-sized bed of the large and private second-floor master bedroom is calling. You'll soon be opening your eyes to more sun, fun and adventure. Have someone to tuck in first? There are two more bedrooms on the main floor; one with a double bed, the other with a Queen bed plus two bunk beds. A crib is also available for the precious baby. If you have pets, bring them! Dogs love the forest and the lake.

Perfect for family exploration, quiet retreats, and romantic getaways, Bold Bay Lakehouse can be yours - one week at a time.

Great holiday
I have been to this property several times and always hate to leave it. It’s so very relaxing, peaceful and quiet. It has everything you could ever want or need for a great vacation. My dog loves it here too. So great to just watch him swim in the lake and hang out. House is great and beds are comfortable. Whole place has a vibe of relaxed ease. Never seen so many stars in all my life

Welcome to Bold Bay on Quadra Island!

We first discovered Quadra Island over 40 years ago, and have spent our holidays and as part-time residents ever since. Our children (all adults now), join us when they can (my daughter is with me on photo attached). We split our pleasure time on Quadra Island with our working life in Vancouver.

We look forward to meeting you!

Why they chose this property

The Bold Bay property is unique as it stretches from the Lake to the Ocean. It offers West Coast Island living at its best.

What makes this property unique

The Bold Bay property is steeped in history, with local first nations use of the bays and lake, and later by homesteaders. You can see signs of old trails, docks and foundations; and even find an arrowhead if you are lucky.
