Anna Fratarcangeli purchased this apartment in 2006
Spacious, comfortable, great location ... suitable as a tourist.
This apartment is located in a strategic position ... is an excellent choice for travelers interested in art, culture and shopping.
HUGE, clean apt -3 BR, 3bath-on banks of Tiber within 10 minutes walk of P.Popolo (incl metro). Very safe, quiet neighborhood. Easily fit family of 5 (14-70+). Anna provided everything we needed, and quickly resolved a problem with extra TLC. She is an excellent and attentive host. Exceeded all expectations.
The apartment is absolutely wonderful! Anna met us there upon arrival, they have a really helpful book with ideas, suggestions, etc... Anna arranged transportation to & from the airport for us. The apartment was huge, clean, well stocked, and AIR CONDITIONED!!! (Very rare in Europe, we found). It is central to everything we wanted to see. We either walked , took a bus, or took a subway everywhere,
Lovely neighborhood! Great experience. We would definitely use this apartment again!
The only reason there are 4 (vs. 5) stars are: one shower head didn't work. Seems to have been noted a long time ago, so I'm surprised it wasn't fixed. (There is a large tub there that can be used however). Also, while there is a washing machine, there is no dryer. Our clothes had to hang for 2 days and were very hard. I don't recommend planning to wash jeans there
The apartment was spacious, clean and fully equipped. The tram passes right behind the building and you are at the Piazza del Popolo and the Metro Station in minutes. It is also a ten minute walk which is also very convenient. Anna is a very helpful and easily accessible property manager. There was never a request that was not answered immediately and taken care of to the best of her abilities. I highly recommend Bella Artis to any family who wants to have a place to get home and relax at the end of a long sight seeing day.
The reason for my 4 star rating is because we had an issue with our air conditioning which could not be taken care of during our stay even though Anna did send someone out immediately, otherwise I would've rated it a five star.
My wife and I brought our three adult children to Rome and spent two days at Anna's home, which is in a very nice neighborhood that is not in a "touristy area". That was both good and bad for us. It was wonderful to experience life in a true Roman neighborhood and Anna gave us a great recommendation for dinner at a local restaurant, Bubi's, on via Flamina. After a ten minute walk down via Flamina you arrive at Piazza de Popolo, which is the northern gate to the city of Rome and instantly you are back to an area filled with shops, restaurants and tourists. Another ten - 15 minutes and you are at the Spanish steps and Trevi fountain. If you like to walk, or want to explore in depth this area, then great. However to get to many areas, such as Campo de Fiori, it is a 15 Euro taxi ride. There is public transportation available (a tram stops right outside the apartment and the metro is at piazza de Popolo), but we found it slow and hot to use.
Overall, this was a very nice apartment in a very nice neighborhood and I would recommend it highly, particularly for someone looking to experience life in a beautiful Roman neighborhood. Thanks Anna for your hospitality!
I will start out by saying that I would not hesitate to stay here again. The apartment is beautiful, clean, quiet, spacious with great a/c and just about everything you could need...plenty of dishes, wine bottle opener, good clothes washer, rolling cart for groceries, you name it.
The location was great for us, there is a tram almost outside the doors, or you can walk seven minutes to Popolo Square and catch the metro at the Flaminio stop. Side note: we took a tour to Pompeii & Mount Vesuvius and the meeting place was Popolo Square, very easy!
We walked from the apartment to the Spanish Steps, Trevoli Fountain, the Parthenon, the Roman Forum & the Coliseum in one day, taking the subway home. So yes you can walk to the main sites, even Vatican City (or ride the subway two stops) if you enjoy urban walking. And if not, the tram & subway are very close. And don't forget that the beautiful Borghese Gardens are approximately two blocks away from the apartment as well.
The apartment itself is very quiet, with automated blinds to make the rooms very dark. The water pressure is okay, one shower head in the upstairs bathroom needs to be replaced, but otherwise we had no shower/tub issues (the jacuzzi tub is FABULOUS). The alcove in the living room, the pull out sofa, can be loud if the a/c is on for the person sleeping there. Otherwise, very peaceful.
The wifi is great in the living room and the bedroom directly below, otherwise it does decrease in strength in the other rooms. But the common rooms were fine.
There is an elevator to help with luggage, but steps lead to all bedrooms so be aware of this if you have mobility issues.
Shops in the area close around 2pm. The main grocery stores are a good ten minute walk away, so use the rolling cart for sure. Otherwise Popolo Square and past the square has shops and restaurants open later.
Save yourself cab fare from the airport. Take the airport train to Termini, hop the subway six stops to Popolo/Flaminia, or hop a taxi at Termini. Approximately 12 euros from Termini to the apartment.
Anna is very helpful setting up taxis, answering questions, so she will help to make your stay wonderful.
I already miss this apartment!
The apartment is located in a strategic point, where they can be easily reached places of interest and Squares. Only 10min walk to get to Piazza del Popolo and Villa Borghese.
Piazza del Popolo, with a pleasant walk, you can reach the Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain.
Close to the apartment are the Explora Museum (for children), the Ara Pacis Museum, and the Auditorium (Music Park, built to host musical and cultural events, designed by Renzo Piano).
5min tram (handy outside the palace), to arrive at the Olympic Stadium and the Stadio Flaminio.
In the area, there are: gyms, golf course, swimming pools.
And the shopping!
A few steps from the apartment, there are bars, restaurants, pharmacy, tobacco, mini-market (closed on Sunday).
Beyond la'del bridge, opposite the palace, you can enjoy pizza Neapolitan 'Red Tomato'.
