Why Laurie and Tom Edes chose Maine

We used to walk past this cottage on our morning walks. We loved the setting and had always said if it ever came on the market, we would love to buy it for a vacation rental to allow others the opportunity to enjoy a little piece of heaven at the lake. When it became available, we were delighted. When you walk in the door from the driveway, you have the sensation that you are on a houseboat, as the lake fills your view through the front windows.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for the very nice weekend. Despite the rain, we had a wonderful graduation celebration for Tori and family & friends all fit in nicely between the dining and living rooms Sat. evening. Your cottage is very cozy. The bed downstairs is wonderful!!! Thanks again and hopefully I’ll be contacting you in the future for some other event.

Another fantastic stay

  • 5 of 5

This is our third time back to Blue Spruce and we were once again extremely pleased with our stay! Pushaw is a hidden treasure of Maine! We are looking forward to our fishing trip in the spring. Laurie (Owner) is fantastic to deal with, she goes over and beyond to make sure the cottage is fully stocked with anything you may need. Great Trip!!!!! if I could give 100 stars I would.....

Quiet peaceful getaway, just what we needed.

  • 5 of 5

We got so lucky with the weather but the cabin was quirky and cozy and just perfect for us. We took the canoe out one day and enjoyed the little park every morning. We even had a fire one night

One of my favorite things was the stars! Just lying on the dock at night (bundled up pretty good) looking at the sky. The little heater in the living room heated the whole place quite quickly and was perfect for those cold mornings and late nights. Great place would definitely come back.

Excellent vacation on Pushaw

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the Blue Spruce cottage with my best friend and her fiancé and my brother. The cabin had everything we needed, and the views of the water couldn't be beat. This cabin is an excellent value overall, and Laurie and Tom are wonderful to work with. Two things to be aware of: this cabin uses lake water, so you'll want to be sure to have bottled water for drinking and cooking. Also, the stairs to the second floor sleeping area are quite steep. Since we didn't spend a lot of time going up and down the stairs once dressed it wasn't a big problem for us, and we love Poland Spring water so we get bottled anyway...neither of these things were a big deal to us but to bear mentioning. October has chilly nights and the monitor heater kept the cabin warm when needed. There's a canoe and paddles as well as life jackets available. It was too cold for me to want to be on the water, but I took note of it should I return in the summer. Overall it was an excellent stay and we would rent the cabin again with no reservations.

Owner's Response: We always appreciate feedback on the cottage. Our site listing does indicate that the water comes from the lake and that the guest must provide their drinking water. We do however provide 1 gallon of water complementary . The Hospitality Link also specifies that guests need to bring drinking water.

The perfect lake cabin with perfect views. Please book to get away and unplug!

  • 5 of 5

If you're the type that expects granite countertops and a 70" TV to babysit your kids this is not the place for you. If you want a true lake house with beautiful views that invite you to get off the internet, away from the TV and outside where you can enjoy life you need to book it now! We were in town for a wedding and could not have picked a more perfect place to stay. Is it the Sheraton?'s a lake house that delivers everything we could have asked for except a bathtub for the wife to soak in. Even that can be overlooked when you wake up in the loft to the gorgeous sunrise and enjoy the evening by the fire pit. The house was well stocked with the essentials, clean and a perfect get away to slow down during our hectic schedule for the wedding. Not really a complaint, just a suggestion...trim the trees that overhang the roof of the house. We stayed during the fall and the nuts/limbs dropping onto the metal roof sounded like gunshots at times. We can't wait to book again!

Nice, clean and right on the lake!

  • 3 of 5

Nice place right on the lake. The canoe was nice to have. It was a working vacation for me and I would've liked to have enjoyed the lake more. It would be nice to have a place to put clothes or a closet to hang them in. Also, a bigger T.V would be nice, the 18" one is too small for that room. Overall a nice place to stay close to Bangor and good for fishing etc...

Rustic Perfection

  • 5 of 5

The Blue Spruce is the best stocked rental we've had and we've had so many experiences! Very impressed with all the details attended to by Tom and Laurie. From the expert directions getting in to knowing about water in advance to the appliances, Wifi and cookware all was perfect. Add to the scenic views and it's perfect for a rustic cabin vacation!
