This charming and tranquil farmhouse built in 1850 is located on a one acre property a mere five minute walk from the center of Woodstock. The decorated Three Bedroom Main House features are quaint and appealing. The first floor living and dining areas are bathed in sunlight. Historic details include exposed wood beams, wide pine-wood floors, antique doors, exposed wood beams and a working fireplace. The kitchen is newly renovated. However, feel free to take advantage of the many wonderful restaurants available in Woodstock and the surrounding towns.
The location of this charming home is a great advantage. Take public transportation to Woodstock and avail yourself of the short walk from the town center. Bicycle rentals are also available within a five minute walk from the house. Or, if you wish, abandon your automobile once you arrive and experience this old world charm: inviting interiors, pool on the premises, luxurious furnishings, and tranquility.
The house has two dining areas, the fully stocked kitchen can seat up to six and the formal sun-drenched dining area includes a farm table that seats eight. Feel free to entertain or relax and enjoy this country retreat.
I stayed at the farmhouse for three nights with a few friends. The pool is perfectly situated amongst tress and gardens and served as the perfect activity for three hot July days. The accommodations are just as described. We took advantage of the convenient location by walking to town for dinner each night. Woodstock has tasty restaurants and interesting shops. I suggest using the room with twin beds for kids only but we made it work. I would definitely stay here again and I recommend the property.
I rented this farmhouse for a weekend with my son and his friends and we had a wonderful time just hanging out and barbecuing, watching a movie and hunting down the local watering hole for a swim. The house was freshly painted, tastefully decorated -- without drawing attention to itself -- and I particularly appreciated the fact that it was walking distance to town. After driving up from the city the last thing I wanted to do was get back in the car, We found some nice walks up in the hills, too. Compared to the cost of local motels and cabins I found this hassle free and much more homey.
We decided to spend a long holiday weekend in Woodstock and had the good fortune of having the town to ourselves. We highly recommend Woodstock between Thanksgiving and Christmas. What a beautiful and welcome winter respite. The kitchen and large dinning room allowed us to entertain our six guests and a few (4)friends that visited our teenage daughter. One of the bedrooms was small however the owners made available (2) queen-sized air mattresses and linens. Our children were able to walk into town and explore this quaint and artistic region without our constant supervision (or fear of something strange happening).
We'll certainly book again and thank you for a lovely time.
The house is charming, and has its own character. You do feel the age and the low ceilings remind you of it as well.
Even though it has three bedrooms, it can only sleep up to two couples and a child (5-8yo) - the bedroom is really tiny, with extremely low ceiling and the bed does not fit an adult. Downstairs is very spacious, and even though there are three separate areas (plus kitchen and a toilet for small people), there are no pull-out sofas or air beds.
The kitchen has only a minimum of appliances, no DW. It can support lite cooking for up to 4 people.
Fireplace is there mainly for decoration, does not support a fire for longer than a half an hour - it takes hard work to keep it going.
Our stay at this farm house which is situated on a dirt road within walking distance from the center of Woodstock was idyllic. The rustic charm and solitude of the house was complemented by the comfortable and tasteful furnishings. Even my 12-year-old daughter loved it! We both enjoyed hiking the trail (along a stream with an amazing mountian view) just 10 minutes from the house. And...being non-drivers, we were able to arrive by bus and have everything we needed within walking distance. Thank you again!
Woodstock, also known as the New York Colony of the Arts, is home to countless writers, musicians, filmmakers and visual artists.
