About Deborah Dunlap
I am an entreprenuer, developer, author, publisher, TedX speaker, community leader and volunteer who has been preserving and publishing Pensacola history since the 1980s. I moved from Birmingham, Alabama in the early 80’s, when I fell in love with the deep waters of Pensacola Bay. In 1986 I formed my first publishing company and created the Pensacola Apartment Guide magazine. To get the company profitable, I was a one-woman show: sales calls, photography, graphic design and distribution….. in short, everything but the actual printing. The successes of my first publication led me to establish three more apartment guide magazines along the Gulf coast. I also began publishing monthly news magazines for Realtor Associations from New Orleans to Boca Raton. I love giving back to the community through volunteer service which spans over three decades: Board of Directors Pensacola Humane Society 2018-present Impact 100 Member 2015-present Member Echo Life Church 2017-present Fiesta of Five Flags Sponsor & Committees 2000-2018 Named one of Pensacola’s Visionaries by Climate Business Magazine in 2013 Pensacola’s 100 Most Influential People in 2011 by the Independent News Escambia County Clean & Green Commission 2010-2011 Friends of the Saenger Theatre Executive Board (2005-2007) Downtown Improvement Board (3 consecutive terms by mayoral appt) Board of Trustees First United Methodist Church (chairman 2009) NW Florida’s 25 Most Powerful Women by Climate Business Magazine 2004 Pensacola Children’s Chorus Board of Directors (2000-2004) Florida’s People to Watch in 2002 by Florida Trend Magazine Founding member Race for the Roses all female sailing regatta Princess “Loves to Laugh” Mayoki Indians Court of 1989 Board of Directors Pensacola Multi-Family Council 1986-1999

Why Deborah Dunlap chose Downtown
In my travels throughout the South, I developed a deep love of old buildings in need of renovation. In 1994, this fondness led me to purchase the building at 112-114 Palafox Place. Over the course of the next five years I purchased and restored three more buildings on Palafox Place in the heart of Downtown Pensacola. I am a hands-on property manager to my 21 tenants.
What makes this Apartment unique
In 1999, after selling my first publishing company, I purchased a vast private collection of historic photographs and founded Deborah Dunlap Publishing. This historic photo collection includes hundreds of original glass negatives and over 30,000 images, dating from the Civil War era to the 1980s. Many of the older historic images can be seen in Baptist Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospital, the Escambia County Courthouse Pensacola City Hall, numerous banks, offices, restaurants and businesses throughout the greater Pensacola area. I have published fifteen books, the most popular of which are the 144-page hardcovers, "Pensacola in the 50s & 60s" and "Historic Photographs of Pensacola Beach". My latest book, PALAFOX, is a 224-page hardcover collaboration with 95-year-old John Appleyard on the history of Palafox Street. You’ll see a copy of these books in your apartment and they are available for purchase at the office right next door. I also design multi-layered hand-crafted metal ornaments of Pensacola and Pensacola Beach. Each ornament depicts ten different iconic places to commemorate your visit to our fair city and beautiful shores. Each ornament is signed by me and they can be purchased at the office next door to your apartment.
