About this property

Ca' Canaletto Canal View

In an enchanting location overlooking one of the prettiest canals in all of Venice, a bright and classic two bedroom apartment situated in a tranquil position right next door to the Convent of the Eremite and opposite one of the most historic and well-known restaurants in the city, ‘Locanda Montin’.

Ca’ Canaletto on the Rio Delle Romite (sometimes known as ‘Rio Dell’ Eremite’ or ‘Canal of the Hermits’ in English) offers air-conditioning and plenty of flexible living space with tasteful, well furnished living and dining areas overlooking the canal, a fully fitted kitchen and a second living area with a double sofa bed. It has a large double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with bathtub and a separate shower, a second bedroom with twin beds (which can be made unto a double - simply ask when booking) and another bathroom with shower. The two bedrooms are quiet, comfortable and highly appealing and overlook the neighbouring gardens.

Peaceful, though certainly not isolated, the apartment is but a minute’s walk from the gentle activities of a thriving neighbourhood - take a short stroll down the alleyway opposite, with its little illuminated shrine and enticing air of secrecy, before suddenly arriving onto the Fondamenta Toletta, a charming street of bookshops, bar, gelataria, ATM and the canalside tables of the small, but highly popular, ‘Enoteca Ai Artisti’.

Also within a minute of the fine restaurants of Calle Lunga San Barnaba which leads directly to the delightful Campo San Barnaba and then onto the Ca’ Rezzonico vaporetto stop and the highly impressive Ca’ Rezzonico Museum of 18th Century Art, with its commemorative plaque to the poet Robert Browning, directly shouldering the Grand Canal.

Are you part of a larger group who would like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer another apartment in this building: Ca' Dell'Artista.

Lovely, comfortable, convenient apartment in quiet area
We love the location and have been back many times. It feels like home to us. VoV staff are very helpful and accommodating and took care of all our requests. We particularly loved the cooking lesson just downstairs, arranged through VoV. Several nice places to sit and read or talk. The refrigerator is a little precarious. A bottle of wine fell from the door rack and broke when we opened it. Not enough pots. We bought and left a small container to heat milk, and a small pot to boil an egg. A bread knife would be nice.

A lovely spacious apartment in a quiet area,
but close enough to restaurants etc. Comfy beds. Great attentive support from Views On Venice team - really appreciated.

Quiet neighborhood in Venice
Kitchen was well out-fitted. (1 drawer broken). Apt was larger than we needed - used the entry area as living room and did not use dining room / living room at all. Bedrooms were good sized. Need towel hooks in bathrrooms. Also shower in bathroom off entry area smelled of mildew. Pretty clean but a bit worn / dated.

About the host

Hosted by Views On Venice

Host profile image
Views on Venice was founded in the late 1990’s when the concept of short term apartment rentals was in its infancy and rarely considered an option by most visitors to the city. As a ‘thirty-something’ Venetian excited by the new business and communication opportunities offered by the internet, I decided to link up with a close childhood friend in creating a partnership which, at the time, was a novelty in Venice.
The idea we had in mind was to approach the traditional management of my family’s apartments from an entirely different angle, while at the same time resisting the attentions of those wanting to transform my family's palazzo into a prestigious hotel.
Our aim was to offer these apartments, as well as those of friends, for rental to an international clientele who’d take pleasure in the comfort, freedom and authenticity of ‘living at home as a Venetian’ rather than merely observing the city from the confines of an anonymous hotel room or suite.
The common denominator then, as now, was to offer ‘something extra’ amidst an already extraordinary city - an added dimension which turns a ‘stay’ into an ‘experience’ and a 'dream' into 'reality'.
