Why Wendy Simpson chose Beziers area

On the outskirts of Capestang, Le a Petit Saint Nazaire is a former wine growers residence surrounded by vineyards.

Served by Beziers, Carcassonne, Montpellier and Perpignan airports, all within an hours reach. Capestang is a thriving village with a town square which holds a bustling twice weekly market. It is dominated by a 14th century church. Situated on the Canal du Midi, now a designated world heritage site. Ideally placed with the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean to the South and the Regional Park of Haut Languedoc to the North.

What makes this barn unique

The owners live on site in the main house and are on hand to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. They are happy to assist you with any enquiries and to suggest activities, places to visit, restaurants to try and to arrange wine tasting tours through the local tourist office.

The rental includes a welcome pack. A baby sitting service is available if required. The owners can offer a selection of indoor and outdoor toys, games and books and can also supply high chairs, potties and toilet seats.

Great Value Gite in a Good Location

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for 2 weeks in July 17. The owners are lovely people who really looked after us. The Gite was well equipped, just the right size for us. The swimming pool is excellent, a good size for swimming in, not just a plunge. The deep end was deep enough to dive in. The garden was lovely with a few little secluded pretty areas where you could enjoy a private lunch or read your book with a nice view over the fields away from the kids in the pool.

The location was within a short drive of some great sites to visit including beaches, the Canal du Midi and Minerve.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review, we always appreciate them. We are pleased you enjoyed spending time in the pool and the garden-we work hard to keep them looking good. It's a good base for exploring the area and the boys obviously enjoyed the beaches. Hopefully we will see you again in the future.

Delightful property in very attractive setting

  • 4 of 5

This was one of 2 adjacent gites, attached to the main house and converted very tastefully by the owners Wendy and Pat. It was furnished to reflect every possible need and provided an extremely welcoming and very comfortable base to explore this intriguing area. The pool and gardens were lovely, with hidden nooks and crannies to investigate and little private corners just perfect for the end-of-day glass of rose. Proximity to the Canal du Midi, the coast and historic towns ensure a varied programme of activity is easy to organise.

I would like to award a 4 1/2 star rating, as the only slight drawback is the proximity of a quite busy road. In all other respects Wendy and Pat's little corner of the Languedoc is wonderful and their welcome to guests generous and warm.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review. We are so pleased you had everything you needed in the Gite and that you enjoyed the pool and garden. We like living in this area because there is so much to see and do. I know the road can get quite busy and hope the traffic noise did not detract from your enjoyment. It was lovely to meet you and we would love to welcome you back in the future.

Excellent place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Wendy & Pat were very friendly and welcoming. We arrived on a Sunday when the supermarkets close early so they had bought a few essentials in for us which was much appreciated. The Gite had everything that you need for your stay and Wendy and Pat were happy to recommend local places to visit and eat. The pool area and garden was lovely, especially with the weather being so hot, it was a nice relaxing place to hang out. We would thoroughly recommend this as a place to stay if you're visiting this area of France!

Warm welcome, delightful gite

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely stay at Le Petit Saint Nazaire.

Wendy and Pat were wonderful hosts and couldn't have been more hospitable and helpful. The gite was comfortable, clean and well equipped. Our 3 girls were delighted with the garden which was a little oasis for a 7, 5 and 3 year old.

We are already planning our next trip!

Well equipped gite, great for families

  • 5 of 5

The gite was fresh and clean and equipped with absoluely everything we needed. Food basics, lots of fruit, plus a bottle of red and white wine were left for us our arrival, this was much appreciated as we had a late flight in to Montepellier and didn't stop for supplies on the way. Wendy and Pat are very nice and very welcoming and are happy to suggest places to visit, our 2 year old daughter still talks about Wendy's house 2 weeks after leaving. She loved the pool and rowing the dinghy across it, and was kept occupied with all the outside toys to play with, wooden house, tree swing, slide, various bats and balls, outdoor games and bucket of duplo. The pool isnt quite fully fenced off, but it is on the side where the gites are, and there is a safety alarm fitted on the pool which prvided peace of mind. There are plenty of loungers around the pool and areas in the garden to sit and enjoy the views over the fields with a glass of wine and meal.

We stayed at the gite 4 out of 11 nights in France, but wish we had stayed longer here. There are lovely beaches 30 minuted away, we loved Serignan with beautiful soft sand backed by grassy dunes. There is a restaurant close to the entrance to the beach where we enjoyed pizza. We also visted Bezier, Narbonne and the Canal du Midi. The Plateau des Poetes is an enchanting park in Bezier well worth a visit for all ages - don't miss the old fairground rides and cafe at the top playing old french music in the open air, it was like stepping back in time.

Capestang itself has a nice restaurant on the canal and a park for children. There are lots of restaurants to choose from in Narbonne and the cathedral area and the gardens to one side of it are lovely to play in.

We would love to visit again with my Sister and her family - the two gites are perfect for travelling with an another family who want to holiday together but want their own space too!

Fantastic gite in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We were very impressed by the gite and don't think the pictures online do the outside space justice. It's a great place for children to play and the adults to relax.

Internally nice and clean. The welcome pack was a nice touch when you arrive.

The owners, Pat and Wendy, are great hosts. Very helpful and informative. To give you an idea, our daughter was 7 during our stay and they put bunting up and provided a cake and present (as did the other family staying in the other gite!)

I would recommend you hire a car as it is a great base for exploring the area: great beaches, historic towns and lots of vineyards...
