Absolutely fantastic property ideal for any family get together

  • 5 of 5

Cleugh Manor was absolutely fantastic, lived up to our expectations and more! House and surrounding areas are stunning and the perfect place for our family gathering with the added extra compliments of a beautiful box of treats and wines for our family celebration. Couldn't recommend enough and will be booking again for 2017👌🏻

Great weekend

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house in stunning grounds. Comfortable beds and plenty to keep you occupied; cinema room and snooker table were well used! Plenty of space for getting together (12 of us) or for being apart. Lovely walks too, the dogs loved it! Quite isolated so you need to take plenty of food but there was a good shop only fifteen minutes drive away which opened quite late (even on a Sunday). Had a great family weekend and would love to go back!

Lovely house in lovely location

There for 3 nights (6 adults and 7 kids). Lovely big house with lots to keep the kids entertained. Set in a really nice location with walks on the door step. Great fun was had by all - would go back.

Great venue for a murder mystery evening

  • 4 of 5

Met our expectations in most respects, however we did have problems trying to get the central heating working throughout the property, none of the middle floor bedrooms had working radiators so it got very cold at night. Fortunately the days were bright and sunny and afternoon were spent walking in the woodland or sitting with popcorn watching movies. Local amenities are non existent so you need to ensure your group is well stocked up with food & drink. We are planning another weekend for next year and will be seriously thinking about sorting an online shopping and having it delivered rather than trying to bring everything with us. Plenty of kitchen and cooking utensils albeit they were not in obvious places, there was however a lack of wine glasses which we pointed out and hopefully should have been sorted for future guests.

A Weekend in a Fairytale

  • 4 of 5

Had a splendid weekend at Cleugh Manor celebrating our Golden Wedding anniversary. We were a party of 13 comprising 8 adults, 2 young adults 16 and 22, 3 children 3, 5 and 7 and one dog. Friday evening was spent eating chilli and exploring the stunning house and its facilities with children living out their favourite fairy tales. On Saturday the weather was fine and bright and we managed a walk to the reservoir and around the grounds, taking a peep in the historic reservoir navvies’ hut at the side of the drive, but as we had so much to experience inside the house we returned in the early afternoon, some to the games room for snooker and some to the hot tub with a bottle of champagne. Saturday evening after cocktails and a spot of fine dining in the grand dining room some withdrew to the drawing room whilst others returned to the games room for a return match before gathering in the cinema for a late movie. Sadly it was too cloudy to experience the dark skies however in the early hours the clouds cleared and stars did appear briefly just before dawn. Wonderful! This is indeed a grand house lavishly furnished in a baroque style with luxurious bathrooms. The kitchen is large and beautifully appointed but not adequately equipped for cooking for a large group. A full English breakfast for 13 people was achieved only by improvisation. But a fabulous experience one to recommend and which we will no doubt want to repeat.
