Photos and Description of this Clare holiday cottage

A beautiful luxurious home with mesmerising views.

Kilbaha cottage is uniquely perched on one end of Kilbaha Bay in Loop Head, with panoramic views over the Atlantic and the ships and fishing boats that pass it's door. Set in ten acres, it has a rocky cove on the shore and endless scope for exploration, be it with bucket and spade or binoculars.

Loop Head is still a well kept secret and visitors find it unspoilt and deserving of it's many awards. A recent one being the European Destination of Excellence.

The house has just had an extensive refit, which kept all that makes it special, but adding a wet room, wood burning stove and a new shower area near the sauna.

The three bedrooms are double with the master suite having it's own bathroom.

A separate loft room over the kitchen is a quiet space to read or watch a movie and usually a gathering place for the children.

While there is a wonderful sense of remoteness in Loop Head you are never far from a great meal or a small harbour to pick up your lobster and crab for dinner.

You can see the lobster pots being emptied outside the house by the local fishermen, and drive to the harbour to get the freshest catch imaginable.

Please note our changeover day is Saturday.

About Ciara McInerney

Kilbaha Cottage holds many wonderful memories for me and my family and is a perfect place to relax and kick back.

Ciara McInerney purchased this cottage in 1990

Why Ciara McInerney chose County Clare

I spent my childhood summers in this house and have wonderful memories of running to see the dolphins just off the rocks and collecting shells in the many rock pools on the shore. There are sailing courses for children in Kilrush which I enjoyed and of course the many picnics on the nearby beaches.

It's a very special house for adults and children alike.

What makes this cottage unique

Although the house is a holiday home it has everything you might need for your stay. The stunning view and rock pools draw you outside while the sauna is relaxing after a dip in the cove.

The house is beautiful and the location is breathtaking. This was my second time to Ireland but my partners first. We both fell in love with Kilbaha Bay and Murphys Point, which we found out from the locals was the name of the house. We were lucky enough to meet the builders son who grew up in the house and the ladies at the Kilbaha Bay Arts and Craft store - you have to visit that place. Everyone was amazing and so friendly. We can not wait to come back. Going to sleep to nothing but the sound of the ocean waves was so peaceful. We were fortunate to have great sunny weather while we were there although I was hoping for a storm too, maybe next time. My partner and I will definitely be back. We loved the house and the location and we have a sentimental connection now as we got engaged there. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a peaceful, beautiful getaway. It is only a 90 minute drive to Galway and the Cliffs of Moher and many other sites. You have to take the seaside road to Kilkee, breathtaking scenery. I just can't say enough about this area. Thanks so much Ciara and your family for sharing with us this lovely location and comfortable home.

Fabulous oceanfront location

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Kilbaha. The cottage is tastefully designed, well equipped and the owner very prompt and friendly in all her dealings with us. The location is breathtaking and great for exploring the Loophead peninsula. A pint of Guiness and fresh cooked seafood are within walking distance along the coastal road. What more could you want!?

The most amazing vacation we ever had!!!

  • 5 of 5

What an incredible vacation we had! We spend one week traveling all around Ireland and the second week at this incredible home!

All I kept saying to myself was I must have died and went to heaven!

There are not enough words to descibe how incredible our stay here was.

You could stand all day and look out the windows at the beautiful views, it never ended!

The home is so spacious and the fires felt incredible in the evening.

The locals were so friendly to us!

We will definetly be coming back very soon, I wanted to sell my home and stay there that's how awesome this place is!!

All this beauty matched by Ciara and Helen who were so wonderful and warm to us by welcoming us in to their home !

When you leave this home and area of Ireland you will be a different person!!

Thank you again Ciara and Helen!!!

See you soon!!!

Heaven on earth!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay in this wonderful home! We stayed in 2010, and coming back this year we were stunned with the beautiful upgrades! The evenings were so relaxing with the fire, the waves crashing so relaxing. Everything you need is here. So lovely to wake up to the beautiful view. The whole home is comfy, peaceful and relaxing. If you are looking for solitude, but yet not too far from everything, this is it. Being later in the year when we stayed, a lot of things are closed for the season such as the dolphin watch out of Carrighaholt, and Keatings Pub only open on weekends. But it is not that far of drive to Doolin to the Cliffs of Moher, Burren Perfumery and other attractions. Kilkee and Kilrush are very close for shopping, pubs and cafes. After a long day of attractions or hiking it was nice to come back and sit in the sauna or soak in the tub. Ciara is very helpful and friendly, even sent us a text to see if we needed anything. I highly recommend a stay at this cottage-you won't be disappointed!

Absolutely recommendable

  • 5 of 5

It says in the offer, "sleep to the sound of the sea" and this is perfectly true.

The cottage is located on a cliff, where the only sounds you hear are from the wind and the sea. The view is breathtaking, the house itself is perfectly equipped, well-maintained and the owner is a kind and helpful person. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend their holidays in this part of Ireland.
