PERFECT PLACE TO EXPLORE ICELAND. STUNNING VIEW TO THE GLACIER AND SEE

Kjarvalströð is a new luxury 'old style' privately owned cottages located in the spectacular and unique surroundings of Snaefellsnes on the west coast. Approx. two hour drive from Reykjavik. The National Park is only 5 min away. Enjoy the magnificent views of the glacier Snaefellsjökull, the surrounding mountains, and over the bay Faxaflói. The cottage is one of few cottages designed as Icelandic houses from 1920's. There are plenty of things to do and see in the area such as: beautiful hiking, whale watching, sailing around the many islands, historical places, bird watching, skiing and sightseeing on the glacier.

If you are looking for a quiet area to relax, or want to explore the unspoiled nature and many wonderful activities in the area, these Cottages are the perfect place!

Please visit our homepage http://icelandcottages.is/ for more pictures and info.

Gemütliches Haus in großartiger Lage

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Myself and my husband were really pleased with this sweet little property. We arrived late on the saturday night but had no problems getting there as we had been given excellent directions and advice before our trip by the cottage owner. The place was clean tidy and warm and had everything we needed.

We did our shop (as advised) before getting to the cottage and were self sufficient for our entire stay. We did note that theres not much opportunity to go out for a casual coffee or lunch in the surrounding area or opportunities to buy a bottle of wine.

The weather wasn't on our side but it didn't stop us enjoying the wonderful west Island and we feel we would recommend this place to anyone else that was interested in staying up this direction.

cozy, clean, beautiful, relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This little cottage was perfect for 2; great location to get away from the city life, recharge and get inspired. It was so tidy, clean, uncluttered and had all the essential items to make a meal and relax in candle light. I recommend bringing music - it complimented the atmosphere.

The property was amazing - there are about 8 or 9 different size cottages that are all black and looks cohesive. It feels private and you can see the water in the distance from the front and (in winter) there's a beautiful snow covered mountain just behind the cabin. Saw the northern lights the first night. The weather changes fast and I was really happy I brought good shoes for snow.

I had wondered if it'd feel too small but it was just right.

The dining, kitchen and living area was one room with a big L-shaped sofa that was perfect for relaxing, reading and listening to music. There was a separate bedroom without closets but had hangers which was perfect and a great alternative for space saving (another 24 inches in length with a bench would have been a nice bonus to accommodate suitcases).

Jakob was next door but we really didnt see him much as we were exploring the area during the day. Really good experience, would love to come back and stay longer!

Cozy home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

Having heard I should spend a day or so in Reykjavik but find someplace remote enough to explore all Iceland has to offer for the rest of my week long stay, I stumbled upon this lovely cottage. It was perfect! The location is impecable with incredible views in every direction. So many sights to see, so much to do is all so close. The amenities were exactly as described, and everything I needed to feel at home. Being out and about most of the days I stayed, this cottage was home away from home at the end of some long days. The kitchen, the cozy, comfortable sitting/tv area, the bed... all warm and inviting. In addition the owners are welcoming and have it all laid out well for any traveler. I highly recommend this cottage and cannot wait to plan my return trip!

Gemütliches kl. Haus zwischen Meer und Gletscher

  • 5 of 5
