Everything was exactly as I expected. Emma was fantastic in assisting with our stay and directions.
The apartment was clean and well organized.
It made our visit extra special.
We truly enjoyed our stay at "The Architect". Four of us came up for the week to attend a wedding. We were greeted with a welcome basket of pasta, tomato sauce, wine, croissants, orange juice in a well equipped kitchen, as well as a list of dining out suggestions, and WiFi password, among other things. Emma & Tomasso were very nice & helpful, gave us a tour & showed us how everything worked there (somewhat different from what we're accustomed to). One scare was we couldn't find an iron & ironing board (much needed, as one of us was the best man in the wedding). We contacted Emma & was told it was accidentally locked away. But she came through for us, sending someone over that morning to retrieve it. The apartment is exactly as portrayed and well situated, out of the more congested areas of Firenze. There is a fantastic Gelato shop at the corner (which was our evening highlight EVERY DAY). We walked into the Historic area every day instead of messing with the busses (a 15-20 minute walk), getting acquainted with all 4 nearby bridge crossings. We even walked to the SMN train station. From there we took trains to Pisa & Rome. We would recommend this apartment, as it is homey & cozy with many rooms to move about in. We would come back here again.
Emma was very good at communication from the time we booked. She met us at the apartment with her husband and they were so lovely, gave us the tour and instructions as well as a generous welcome basket of Tuscany Wine, crossaints, pasta and sauce which was so nice!
The apartment definitely has a flare to it with color and spunk in its decor. We had my family of 4 and gramma along with plenty of space and with two full baths, that was a plus! I absolutely loved the huge windows that opened in the master bedroom and the kitchen, as well as the patio off the other bedroom/office area.
The apartment was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfasts and even one pasta meal (thanks to the gift basket!)
The only reason I left out one star is because the beds are not the best. The two twin beds in the most beautiful patio room are more like cots, than real beds. We ended up putting the thin mattress on the floor for the boys because otherwise there was no support as there was no box spring. For young kids it worked, but would not be comfortable for adults. Other than this, we truly enjoyed the apartment and our stay in Florence!!
Location... Our favorite part of the location was the amazing gelato place right at the corner of the same block. The grocery store was also a close 7 minutes walk or so and EMMA has a grocery cart rolling basket like he locals hat my boys thought was so cool to use for our shopping. You can reach all the beautiful Florence attractions and restaurants easily by foot and it is down one main road, so easy to find!
Thanks for the local living experience close to the beautiful Florence!
My niece and I truly enjoyed our stay in Florence. Emma and her husband met us at the apartment, they gave us the tour and showed us how to use everything. Everything was clean and tidy, the beds were comfortable and there is a lovely little balcony in the back where we could sit and enjoy a little peace and quiet after a day of seeing the sites. They were also very helpful and pointed us in the right direction to nearby stores and restaurants. We did not have a car but we were able to walk everywhere. If I ever get the opportunity to go to Florence again I would definitely try to book with Emma again.
As stated by previous renter... This apartment was exactly as described all the way down to the lovely welcoming basket!!! While this apartment was awesome, the additional options of going out with the owners on their sailboat and staying a night in their medieval village home was the icing on the cake !!! If you have this opportunity ... You will definitely not regret it!! We can't say enough how hospitable Emma and Tomasso were!! They truly made our Italy journey an unforgettable adventure!! Seriously if your coming to Florence.. Stay at this apartment and don't miss the boat off the Tuscany shoreline!! We hopefully will get the chance to come back and stay with our new friends !!!
Our family of four, including an 11 year old and a 73 year old, stayed in this wonderful home for four weeks. Our 73 y/o aunt had no trouble walking up the two flights of stairs everyday as the steps are broad. When we arrived, we were greeted by Emma and Tomas. They showed us the apt and how to use the appliances and gave us a lovely welcoming basket with wine, pasta, honey, crackers etc. The apartment was not in the center of town but within easy walking distance of the Ponte Vecchio and near the Boboli Gardens and the Pitti Palace. We took a lovely easy 15-20 min walk to the center of Florence everyday. The apt is as described: a spacious lovely 2 bedroom, 2 bath which makes it perfect for a family trying to get out in the morning and taking showers in the evening. This was most appreciated as the summer heat was at record level this year and daily showers to cool off was terrific after a long day in and around Tuscany. We were most appreciative of the fact that the apt came with air conditioning. It is right on the bus line for easy travel in and around Florence. Because it is not in the tourist section, you can better appreciate how the Italians live. On the street is a bank, mobile phone store (Vodafone), cleaners, pet shop, and gelataria. Just up the street are two wonderful pizzarias that stay open very late. The apt is on a main two way street but because it is in the back overlooking a lovely garden, you cannot hear any noise from the rooms. The art is charming and the pictures of the apt are an accurate representation. The furnishings, while not ultra modern, are comfortable and adequate. The building is quiet with friendly neighbors. If you have a car be aware that parking on the street is mainly for residents. Across the street is paid metered parking but it is very expensive. However, you do not need a car in Florence, especially for short stays. Emma and Tomasso came back to say goodbye to us and we had the opportunity to meet their two lovely dogs. They assisted us in bringing our luggage down to the car. We were flying out from Florence airport and because of the number of bags we had and the size of our vehicle we would have had to make two trips. But, Emma was very generous and insisted on driving us to the airport with our luggage so we could make only one trip. I would definitely recommend staying in this apt again and look forward to seeing them. Thank you Emma and Tomasso. Civediamo!
The city of Florence is full of all the attractions. We emphasize that the neighborhood is in the area where there is the highest concentration of green space: Boboli Gardens, Garden of Porta Romana, Viale dei Colli ... just a leisurely stroll.
