Photos and Description of this Westport holiday cottage

3 bedrooms, 1 full bath, 1 half bath

Cliffside Cottage perched on the edge of the Sheepscot close to the water that you feel as if you could be on a BOAT...

Wicker Chairs and windows thrown open to the sunlight and salt air, make this the perfect 'SEASIDE RETREAT'... Green lawns and tall spruces surround your large private deck which has stunning views of the surrounding Islands, Harbor Seals on the ledges in front and Working Lobster Boats.

Listen to the waves lapping on the shoreline in the evening. Lounge with a book in front of the Outdoor Stone Fireplace...Cozy and Quaint,...'REAL MAINE' at its' Finest!

Westport Island is one of the best kept secrets in Maine...The bridge to the island is just 3.5 miles down from route one, between Bath and Wiscasset. A wonderful location for all of the many attractions that the mid coast area of Maine has to offer, yet private and secluded. Stay in the Best spot on the Island!!

Lovely and comfortable cottage

Thank you, Ellen, for sharing your lovely cottage with us. My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the deck with friends watching the seals on the large rock area in the harbor. At one point he counted 44 seals!! The cotage was comfortable and clean. Our friends enjoyed the "penthouse suite" upstairs! We nicknamed it that as it was so quaint and had a wonderful view! This was my husbands first experience on coastal Maine and he just loved it! We visited the Alpaca Farm in Wiscassett, ate at the infamous "Reds Eats", and went fishing out of Boothbay Harbor. Let me also mention the delicious lobster from the North End Co-Op right on the island. This was not a "fancy" vacation, just pure Maine fun!! We hope to visit again soon.

Sweet cottage. Incredible view.

--seals, sunrise, and serenity. What a delight this cottage is. We got the best weather of the summer in a terrific setting. I would have pitched a tent on the deck if the cottage itself weren't so inviting--unpretentious and fun--it's a summer cottage!

My friends and I had a tough time deciding which bedroom was best. The stairs to the upstairs bedroom are challenging but it is without doubt a spectacular "room with a view." I have no regrets and no criticism. My contact with the owner has brought prompt responsive replies. I brought a fan of my own as it was hot but I have no doubt the owner would have provided had I but asked.

Westport Island is a real treasure. I don't really want to tell anyone about it as it is just right as is. However----Westport Pottery is down the road and access to a small island trail (Bonyon Preserve) is also nearby and open only mid-August to mid-April so as not to interfere with nesting birds. This island has a rich history of both fishing and of industry evidence of which can be found by the interested explorer. Yes, you can use this great location to head off to Boothbay but you can also stay right on (or close) to the island. A major supermarket is within 15 minutes. There's a great breakfast place across the street from that; a strip mall hole-in-the-wall that serves great breakfast food and is clean and friendly. On the way to the Farnsworth museum in Rockland we stopped at Thomaston at the prison store and then chanced upon the Thomaston Cafe--best food we had on the trip--but be mindful that they close at 2 in the afternoon on weekdays. There is a great train ride up from Wiscasset to Rockland--expensive but just long enough to enjoy without getting restless....and the Coastal Botanical Gardens in Boothbay are worth the traffic in and out of that town (great if pricey cafe there, too).

Don't forget Popham Beach and the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath--and Chocolate Church. Yeah. Good stuff.
