The farmhouse lies in the traditional rural village of Kritou Terra, which is on the Laona plateau close to the Akamas National Park at the western tip of the island of Cyprus. It is only a short 10-minute drive to Polis town and the beaches of Polis & Latchi. The famous tourist resort and sandy beaches of Coral Bay are a 20-minute drive away, and Pafos town with its shops and buzzing night life is a 30-minute drive away. An excellent selection of tavernas & pubs can be found in the nearby villages and in Polis.
The Laona plateau boasts a wide variety of landscapes from coastal to hill country, to valleys and open plains. Guests interested in seeing the Spring flowers should visit between the beginning of March and the end of May. The main bird migrations, when a wide variety of species may be seen, take place in Spring and Autumn. The Troodos mountains, which reach to 2000 metres, and Paphos forest (home of the moufflon, the island's indigenous mountain sheep) are about one hour's drive away. The perfect spot for hiking, hillwalking and birdwatching.

About Frances Higgins
My name is Frances and I am from Ireland, and have been living in Cyprus for the past 20 years. I've been living with my husband in Kritou Terra village for the last 10 years now, and simply can't imagine living anywhere else!
Frances Higgins purchased this Farmhouse in 2004
Why Frances Higgins chose Kritou Tera
It took me over 4 years of searching to find this particular house. Most of the traditional Cypriot village houses are built very close to each other with no gardens or at most only a small yard. So this house was unique in that it has no immediate neighbours, and it had plenty of space to add a pool in the garden, while still being an authentic traditional Cypriot village house.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
Peace and quiet, no traffic and seclusion are some of the unique features of this property. Surrounded by fields, nature walks are only a step from the garden gate. However I fell in love with the house because of it's charming character - natural stone walls, bamboo and wooden ceilings, Greek-style blue windows and shutters, and quirky little touches such as stable doors and alcoves in the walls.
