Casa Valentina is the apartment next to the tiny, old church of Sant'Anna. It has just been to ally renovated and refurnished. Casa Valentina consists of 2 bedrooms and a living-kitchen. All of this 3 rooms are connected from the inside but also have their access through a door from the terrace, which is typical Eolian style. There is a double room with en-suite bathroom (toilet, wc, shower) and next to this is a bedroom with 4 sleeps. It has 2 single beds with under them 2 pull-out beds. Next to this room is the living room with open kitchen, comfortable double sofa bed and 43" TV.
Two apartments that can be rented separately or together. Casa Valentina and Casa Marta are located one next to the other but they are totally independent. The location is breathtaking and at the same time picturesque. The houses are positioned on top of a cliff, right next to a cute tiny church and the area is characterised by wineyards. The famous dessert wine "Malvasia" is produced here.
The houses distance about 2 km from the town of Malfa. Malfa offers restaurants, shops, a beach called Punto Scario, and authentic agricultural island life.
We had a great stay in this flat. It was tastefully furnited, the bathroom was perfect, a big terrace with lots of shadow in north direction - all very clean and well maintained. The first 2 days it was very stormy - which made it impossible to stay outside. But the rest of the time it was quiet and warmer and we enjoyed lying in the hammock with great view over the sea. The owners, who arrived later and lived in the upper flat of the house were very helpful and friendly.
About Salina: Salina is home to a wide variety caves and submerged volcanic craters. Salina is the most fertile of the Aeolian Islands and famous for its capers and the sweet Malvasia wine. Salina is not as crowded as Lipari or Volcano and less fashionable then Panarea, but boasts beautiful nature, excellent restaurants and shops. A bus service connects the villages and the most beautiful sites on the island. Cars and mopeds are available for rent in the main villages. There are excellent opportunities for walking. For example to Capofaro (lighthouse) that is set on the north coast of Salina and boasts stunning views of Panarea and Stromboli (on a clear night it can be possible to see its eruptions). The inactive volcanoes Monte Fossa delle Felci and Monte dei Porri gave the island its original Greek name 'Didyme' (meaning twins) The conical mountains are 965 and 860 metres high and provide excellent walking.
Getting to the Aeolian Islands: Salina can be reached by ferry and hydrofoil from Sicily, Naples or Reggio Calabria. Milazzo (40 km west of Messina) is the main departure point for the Aeolian Islands. Ferries and hydrofoils leave daily and stop in several islands. It takes 1hr 30 minutes to reach Salina by hydrofoil (with Ustica Lines) and 3hr 40 minutes by ferry. In Salina ferries arrive in the harbours of Rinella or Santa Marina di Salina. Cars and mopeds can be rented here. It is possible to book a transfer with into Sicily from the harbour to the house (25 euro) and then rent a moped in Malfa. Please note that ferries are not always departing in the evening. Therefore we advice guests to book a flight that arrive early in Sicily or the day before the rental starts.
