In Winter… Vermont is known around the world as a winter wonderland.

Within just a short drive of Chester, visitors can ski four of the top-rated ski areas in the world: Okemo – 12 miles, Bromley – 10 miles, Stratton – 15 miles, Killington/Pico – 38 miles. For those interested in Cross-Country skiing, there are more than a dozen highly rated trails within 10 miles, including Grafton Ponds and Lowell Lake. Of course, there are plenty of other winter activities that can be enjoyed in or around Chester including: ice-skating, ice-fishing, sledding, horse drawn sleigh rides, hunting on approved dates, snow-shoeing and snowmobiling.

In Summer… those who visit when the weather grows warmer know that Vermont is equally as special in the summer.

The State of Vermont is home to: 21 State Parks, 26 State Forests, 3 State Wildlife Management Areas, 1 National Park, 1 National Wildlife Refuge, 66 lakes and hundreds of streams and rivers to enjoy. All of these natural resources create endless opportunities for outdoor fun, including fishing, camping, swimming, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, horsebakc riding, zip lines, gondola rides and so much more. Of course, Chester and the small nearby towns, such as Grafton, Woodstock and Weston, are perfect for long leisurely strolls or historic sightseeing, antique shopping, dining out, listening to music, browsing artist galleries or browsing countless craft fairs and farmer’s markets.

In the Fall… simply put, there is no more beautiful place on earth to experience fall foliage than Vermont.

Each year, tens of thousands of visitors drive the back country roads of Chester to take in the intoxicating beauty of the changing of the leaves.

Walking distance to the charming downtown area of Chester, this restored barn offers the quintessential Vermont experience.

Perfect Cozy Home!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect winter weekend getaway home! It was so nice to come home to warm ourselves by the fire after a long day of snowboarding and watch the Olympics. Can’t wait for our next visit!

Very good

  • 5 of 5

This is my first review of a vrbo rental and a must for my experience in dealing with the owner Cara, for making certain our stay in her beautiful restored barn in Chester Vermont was what one would invision it to be. Having someone make sure all is ready and as well suggest restaurants, ski hills, always available if needed, was such a nice extra to what turned out to be a most delightful rental. Being in Vermont is something magical to begin with and then staying in such a cozy setting, with a toasty warm fireplace, wonderful old wood floors, etc, completed such a memmorable getaway for my daughter and I. The warmth felt in this special little barn is clearly an extension of a very thoughtful and caring owner....and what a difference that makes. Thanks Cara.

So homey and cozy, i absolutely loved it and the view from the loft was my favorite!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay, cara was so helpful throughout the whole process and caras sister Lisa was also very helpful and kind. We went snowboarding in Stratton which is about 35 minutes away and it was such a beautiful drive it was like we were driving through winter wonderland. The home was stocked with all house appliances and even the littlest things you wouldn’t think you would need. We came back from snowboarding and played games by the fire all night long, we are already talking about coming back for another trip. Thank you so much to cara and Lisa for the amazing hospitality❤️ We absolutely love the house

A great stay!

  • 5 of 5

Unfortunate familial circumstances brought me to Vermont, but finding this place has made everything easier to manage. The barn has a great deal of charm and more than enough space. To have a full kitchen, 1.5 baths, and sleeping for many at this price is incredible! Cara is great to work with too thanks to her responsiveness!
