A Lovely stay in the Highlands

  • 4 of 5

Another fun stay at Ord Ban. Convenient location for Aviemore with local shops & playpark only a short walk away. We really like the garden and ability to easily sit/eat outside. Unfortunately this trip there was no hand soap in two of the bathrooms or washing up liquid (maybe we were just lucky with a previous stay) so despite doing our shopping in advance, on arrival we had to nip straight out to the shops for soap!

Soap aside, I'd highly recommend as a holiday home for a family. As always, Gael Holiday Homes are a pleasure to deal with!

A return stay to Ord Ban did not disappoint. Everything provided for a perfect stay. Ord Ban is very well situated for Aviemore Centre and is a very comfy 'home from home'

lack basic upkeep and lack serving utensils

  • 4 of 5

the only issue we had was no serving spoons in the property and 1 of the 2 main lights in the kitchen not working and 2 of the under unit lights in the kitchen not working which should really be checked by the company that services the property when cleaning but otherwise the property is really very good and we have used it 4 or 5 times before.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that this is your 7th stay at Ord Ban but disappointed on the low scores of 3 you have left on this occasion for service and value particularly when you mention you really like the property and the issues were about blown bulbs and spoons. Our housekeepers are available to respond to any assistance guests require during a stay and would have been happy to have sorted the blown bulbs and serving spoons for you. I have contacted them to investigate these reported issues. I hope this hasn’t put you off staying at Ord Ban and hope you will visit again soon.

A good place to stay

  • 4 of 5

Great location in Aviemore, close to local amenities and not too far from the town centre. Brilliant base for all the outdoor activites in the Cairngorms. Actual house was good with a decent amount of equipment and facilities.

Aviemore Holiday

  • 4 of 5

A very nice property in a good location, the area is very quiet. A great location for cycling. My only negative comments being that the TV / Digital box failed on the 4th night, there were no instructions for the cooker. There was no floor brush available and the vacuum cleaner was not very good.

Worth considering but compare prices carefully

  • 4 of 5

As usual my first requirement is that the property is clean and the bed linen is fresh and this property scores full marks for both. It is a modern 3 bedroom house with an ample garden and a useful outside shed for mountain bikes etc. has good Internet speeds for the area and a decent dining kitchen. Located at the edge of the village it's very quiet and yet has a small supermarket and two takeaway establishments within easy walking distance, the village centre is a bit of a longer walk though. As with any property there were a few niggling points like the washer dryer didn't seem to dry and had no instructions. Bunk beds in the third bedroom were more suitable for children than adults and two double beds in the other rooms meant less flexibility than if one (or both) was a twin and the gas hob had no auto lighter or safety cut off which meant that I had to be very careful not to let the kids near it. My biggest issue was that the price charged was, at the start of the school holidays, a bit too high in comparison to other properties but as I had left confirming dates late, I expect this is why it was still available. Overall I feel that a few minor changes would definitely help improve the overall experience, but if the owner wishes to maintain returning customers at that price point a few upgrades would be needed.
