Bright 2 Bedroom apartment with Spa and Open Country outlook. Ideal Any Season
Sue & Rob Greenfield
About Sue & Rob Greenfield
We - Sue & Rob - both grew up on the Island and have always stayed our side of the water. We moved to Foinavon with our small daughters in 1991, drawn by it's situation and views. We've spent many happy years here, the girls attending the local schools before leaving for university. As teachers, one still lives and works on the Island, the other having moved to live and work on the mainland with her husband, whose work took them away. Rob has recently retired and partly looks after the property, Sue has now finished her work at the local hospital. We chose to buy Foinavon (a bungalow at that time) as our home, some years ago primarily for it's location, it's outlook and ease of transport and travel. More recently we had the opportunity to invest in building a new home for ourselves, but, not wishing to lose our glorious views, we chose to build ourselves an independent apartment above Foinavon, which is where we now live. Our guests now benefit from the spa, the large conservatory, stylish kitchen etc that we created originally for ourselves. We can't, of course, take the credit for that view! Where else could you find these facilities, convenience, open outlook and, yet, privacy? We really can't see ourselves moving from here; we'll continue to share our outlook with you, our guests.

Why Sue & Rob Greenfield chose Sandown
We chose to buy Foinavon (a bungalow at that time) as our home, some years ago primarily for it's location, it's outlook and ease of transport and travel. More recently we had the opportunity to invest in building a new home for ourselves, but, not wishing to lose our glorious views, we chose to build ourselves an independent apartment above Foinavon, where we now live. Our guests now benefit from the spa, the large conservatory, stylish kitchen etc that we created originally for ourselves. We can't, of course, take the credit for that view! Where else could you find these facilities, convenience, open outlook and, yet, privacy? We've tried to make Foinavon to be the place we'd love to visit ourselves.
What makes this Apartment unique
Even after dark, Foinavon's views go on giving! Facing due east, with no development between us and the sea, we get some fantastic dark skies. You can watch the moon and stars rise over Culver Downs (and the Sunrise, if you're up that early). There are so many countryside walks that you can start from Foinavon that it'd take you a week just to do the easiest ones. (and still have enough for your second week). Do you want to walk to the sea? Barely over a mile. The full length of the Island to the Needles? About 25 miles, footpaths most of the way (there's a sponsored walk each spring). A wide range of walks for everyone, all starting on your doorstep, level or energetic. In fact, if you're keen, you could be 400 feet up within a mile of your front door! For drives out, you have quick and easy access to the whole of our beautiful Island, with few traffic hassles. We've left you a range of maps and guides to give you some ideas.

Accommodation well provided comfortable. Parking tricky with parallel parking especially on busy r
Iow well worth the visit with plenty to do and see
A place to relax and enjoy!
A cozy, comfortable and very well equipped apartment with welcoming, helpful and considerate hosts. Wonderful sunrises and a magical full moon rise above Culver Down! A quiet and calm location, despite the railway to one side and road to the other. Perfectly placed for exploring the island. Wonderful breakfasts on the balcony accompanied by the dawn chorus from the RSPB reserve opposite to magical evenings in the hot tub! A lovely holiday
Very good facilities - much thought given by the owners to the comfort and needs of their guests
Everything about the accommodation itself was very good and the owners were so,helpful. The view was beautiful. The jacuzzi excellent. However we did experience difficulty in parking our car in the allotted space. It felt quite hazardous, being alongside a main road. Also we had not realised there would be a flight of about 18 steps down to the accommodation - OK for us but potentially a problem for others.
We enjoyed meeting you and are very pleased you had a good time at Foinavon.
We work hard to offer the best experience we can, for our guests.
We were disappointed that you were not expecting the front steps, as they are mentioned in the third paragraph of the property description, and the fourth photo with caption shows them on the approach, as well as the Walkaround video. Yes, there are 17 risers, but that is because the steps are much easier going than indoor stairs, which would be steeper, with smaller treads, and have only 12-13 risers for the same height.
We have just reworded the property description slightly, to avoid any misunderstandings for other guests.
We understand your concerns for guests with limited mobility. We feel sure they would be reading our access statement, which gives the relevant full details of accessibility, to assess it's suitability and would not book Foinavon it it did not fit their needs.
It is, of course, the steep slope of the site, that gives Foinavon it's spectacular outlook.
We are acutely aware of the main road, with 30mph speed limit. However, drivers approaching on 'your' side of the road can see you, and be seen, from 50metres away – the stopping distance at 47mph. (30mph limit here) The parallel parking arrangement, of course, means guests never have to reverse out into the road.
Great holiday let. Clean, warm, cosy and comfortable.
Happy to give a 5 star review. We were met by my idea of perfect hosts. Lovely chatty and welcoming, who then said they would leave us to ourselves to enjoy our stay but that they were available should we need anything at all.
Facilities were great with everything you could need for a comfortable relaxing stay.I am very fussy about 'clean' and everything was lovely and clean and I was happy and comfortable to use everything in the property. The owners had put together loads of really useful information about places to go, how to get there, suggestions of nice places to eat etc. (Thank you we used it loads)
The hot tub was perfect. I sometimes find the late evening after we've come in from dinner a bit bleak in holiday lets but not here, we simply poured ourselves a drink and took ourselves down to the jaccuzzi and had a soak and relaxed. A lovely end to the day.
There is a wonderful view to the rear of the property reaching across a nature reserve right across to the disused Fort.
We picked this place completely at random and found we had picked very well. Its a great location from which you can easily explore the whole of the island.
Myself my partner and her 11 year old son had a thoroughly enjoyable time in the IoW. The accommodation was first class. Very clean, peaceful, spacious and made our holiday much more enjoyable. The beds were very comfortable and I had the best weeks sleep in ages, which was a massive bonus.
The kitchen was modern and up to date and we made some lovely meals there. The bath tub was amazing and easy to operate. The views through the bathroom, kitchen and living room were fabulous.
The owners were very polite, helpful and courteous, and gave us space and time to enjoy our holiday.
Thank you Sue and Rob, you made our Christmas extra special.
Where do I start, property was so lovely with views of downs, great treat with spa and felt homely.
We met Sue and Rob who are so nice and helpful. They left great notes for things to do, home was spotless and little notes to help.
We love the island and been now 3 years in a row and must say this is our favourite property.
We already planning next year here again with Rob and Sue as could not fault the property in anyway..
The sun room with spa was the best feature, loved putting in all the lights in the evening which made the spa even more awesome.
We had our 5 month old baby coming and they made space for his travel cot which was nice. It felt like home, I don't think there is a great compliment (well, home with a spa an extra bonus)
Thanks again Rob and Sue
