Family room, in converted chapel. with lovely views. Walkers paradise
- english, I have basic French and German
I am of Welsh blood, brought up near Chester, and with family connections to Glyn Ceiriog and Llangollen. Both my grandmothers were educated in Llangollen. I am a dance teacher, teaching Ballet, Tap and Modern Dance at a dance school in Worcestershire, where I have a house.
Hilary purchased this House in 2014
Why Hilary chose Llangollen
With some savings to invest, I decided to look in earnest for a property as a holiday home, and to rent out. After months of looking I found this chapel. Not just a pretty building with space, but in a lovely spot. and near to where several past family members used to live.
What makes this House unique
The chapel is small as chapels go, but inside it opens up like a tardis. Driving there from Chirk, is very pleasant. A good smooth road with another view of this beautiful valley at every turn. The chapel is up on the valley side on what is no more than a small road with some houses on, though its called the High street. Further up it rapidly changes to a very steep narrow lane, which is the short cut to Llangollen. All of 4 miles, slightly hair raising in the car , and needing plenty of puff if on foot - but the views are worth it!. I love being at the Chapel House. There is non of that awe inspiring must be on my best behavior sort of feeling I get in churches. It is a happy place, light, airy, and attractive. I particularly like how the new staircase goes right up to the round coloured window at the front, then turns back on itself for the last few steps.

Spacious, unique, peaceful - perfect!
I booked the chapel as a surprise post Christmas to New year's day break.
Fantastic place, very clean, very spacious, everything you need.
Village is quiet, great pub restaurant 5 mins walk away. Lovely views from the velux windows upstairs.
Tucked Way from the chaos, perfect new years eve break for us.
Wood burner was a great feature, although no matches and only one firelighter, and we used the available wood the first night.
We asked where any more wood was kept but didn't hear back , so bought some from a tesco, but they wouldn't burn, despite following suggestions online.
We booked the Chapel after another HomeAway property accepted our booking then cancelled because they wanted us to stay different or more nights (we'd met their stated criterion)
Big open plan property. Easy parking, great pubs nearby and good access to outdoor activities. Short car ride to Llangollen.
Nice stay in Ceiriog valley
Unique and unusual property in a lovely valley. Immediately outside of the village there are some great walks.
The owner is currently making some changes to the property which it will benefit from.
I would suggest the property could be further enhanced with curtains, especially in the downstairs area, and some additional storage , hanging space in the upstairs area.
Beautiful place to stay. Different to anything else. Lovely surroundings. If you love the nature and want a quiet holiday this is the place to stay. Well recommended. Will stay again.
We stayed for a coupe of days with our two children. Property was lovely and lots of walks to do near by. Lovely stay away
Lots of space, warm and comfortable. Everything that we needed.
A great place to stay, in a fabulous area for walking.
Would have liked curtains to roof windows, and more wardrobe/drawer space upstairs.
Also bath was difficult to use, with limited headroom.
