Tranquil Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our Thanksgiving getaway at the Pines, in Denmark, Maine. It was the perfect location to get some much-needed peace and quiet. The cottage is situated at the end of a gravel road on Allen mountain. There is easy access to trails in the woods, which our dogs enjoyed. There was no internet connection, but this was a bonus as it meant we could totally disconnect from the outside world. It was great playing cards and board games for a change. Bridgton, only 10 miles away, was a quirky and fun little town with a cinema, numerous restaurants and shops.

Cozy and clean

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time! House was clean and warm for when we arrived after dark. Had everything we needed and it was pet friendly! Jaquie and Kevin even left bones for our dog... which he buried around the property in the woods... we will definently be reserving this home for next year as well! As a side note, might mention that once the pavement ends follow the road to the very end and there's the camp!! Thanks again!!

Away from the rat race

Remote location and very secluded. Nice if you want to get off the grid and hike or do other outdoor activities. Kids enjoyed the trip. Very clean and well-kept, as well. Overall, would recommend.

Very quiet and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We have a family of 5 with 3 small children. Our family always liked the privacy and the quietness of a place. This home was perfect for us. Very deep in a small town Denmark, ME. We liked the sound of bird noise in the morning and crickets at night. House is clean and well maintained. Kevin the owner and his wife was very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone who are looking to get away from the city life and enjoy the nature.

Peaceful getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was adorable and very clean. The peace and quiet we had there was much needed. It's so quiet you can't even hear a car. Each morning we enjoyed our coffee on the large front deck. It has all the essentials you need for cooking. At night time it was enjoyable to hear the loons off in the distance. When traveling around the area there is many beautiful views of the mountains and lakes. If you're looking for privacy and peace this is a wonderful place to go. Kevin was very helpful with giving us information on directions to the cabin and with places to go for dinner, shopping, and much more. I would recommend this home for couples or family's.

A tranquil retreat from the daily hustle

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I recently stayed at The Pines for two nights. We wanted a quiet place to get away from the usual chaos, and we definitely found what we were looking for. The cabin is tucked away in the tall pine trees on the side of a mountain, accessed by a long dirt road. It was incredibly clean and modern inside, with thoughtful touches of character. We were greeted with a personalized letter from the owners, complete with a few treats for our dogs. The kitchen is well-stocked with appliances and other supplies. There is also a charcoal grill for renters' use, located on a small clearing beside the cabin. (We didn't do much cooking because we spent so much time exploring the local area.) The bedrooms are nicely furnished and the bathroom is small but easily manageable. My husband is 6'3" and he didn't have any complaints. The master bed is pretty firm, so bring extra padding if you think you might need it. As for the living area, there is a comfy futon and a small tv/dvd combo. There is also lots of informative literature about the local area. The porch is where we spent most of our time at the cabin because it was just so relaxing - literally up in the tree tops! There is Adirondack-style seating (with foot stools!) for about four or five people. As said, we didn't spend a whole lot of time at the cabin because there was so much to see and do about 15-20 minutes away in the surrounding towns - Bridgton, Naples, Fryeburg, etc. (The Yelp app was our go-to resource because we had decent cellular service a majority of the time.) We particularly enjoyed Sebago Lake State Park, Gazebo Ice Cream, and 302 West Smokehouse. The town of Denmark itself is very quiet with only one gas station/convenience store. The owners live on the lot next to the cabin, but far enough away to preserve renters' privacy. They communicated with us before and after our stay to ensure all our questions were answered and expectations were met. If you're looking for a true woodsy getaway, The Pines is the perfect place!
