This is one of the District's tastefully renovated Historic Row Homes of Capitol Hill the 'In-Law suite' is now 'The Suite Up On The Hill'. ALL OF THESE REVIEWS CAN'T BE WRONG.
You will not believe the LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION of this Suite you are almost on top of the Capitol, National Smithsonian museums and the Federal buildings housing our elected officials and judges. 1 BLOCK UNION STATION and quiet, a few blocks from THE CAPITOL BUILDING! Our guests have been amazed at how close we are to everything and Union Station making it even easier to get around. But Union Station is more than just the train/metro station its a shopping mall (with restaurants and stores) and a must see site in itself. Our guest have give us the title 'Best Location.'
The 'Suite' located on F St NE at 2nd St. in a quiet residential neighborhood this close to Union Station and you would never know a train station was your neighbor.
This is one of the District's Historic (Built in 1890's) tastefully renovated Row Homes in the Capitol Hill area of DC the In-Law suite is now 'The Suite Up On The Hill'. Nicely decorated apartment for those conducting business or just vacationing in the nation's Capital. You will not believe the Location, Location, Location of this Suite you may see your Senator walking along the same street as you as they walk from their offices or Union Station to the Capitol. This is a trip you won't soon forget all of the history, monuments, and museums (the Suite itself was originally built in 1890's, don't worry we've modernized a few things).
Clean refreshing decor with so much more to offer than a hotel room, all the amenities you need when your away from home. The Suite has a total of 3 beds. The Master bedroom beautifully decorated has a full size bed with a night table, closet for garments and a flat screen television to make yourself at home. In the living room the 'Suite' has a very comfortable twin size daybed with a twin size trundle bed. The living room also has a very chic decor with a flat screen television to enjoy while resting in the day bed or having a meal at the table. This apartment will accommodate a family of four very comfortably and it will put you within walking distance of a day of adventure. You can fix up some snacks or cook a nice meal with the fully equipped kitchen. There is a corner grocery store, corner coffee shop, corner restaurant, and a large supermarket just 2 blocks away from the 'Suite'. Of course there is the shopping Mall inside Union Station with places to eat and purchase clothes, jewelry or maybe just a book.
The neighborhood is a very quiet and family friendly residential neighborhood. Located on F St NE at 2nd.
A corner coffee shop 'Ebenezer’s' and 'Toscana's' Italian restaurant (the chef is a neighbor) are only a few steps from the 'Suite', or just a block away visit Union Station with its variety of shops and restaurants it has an amazing architecture and guests are always surprised at how much they enjoy the train station.
Unit 1: This is the one bedroom unit for those needing more space then look at Unit 2 (#323663, ) which has two bedrooms. Both are in the same great location right next to Union Station and a short walk to the Capitol.

This location is near the U.S. Capitol and next to Union Station meaning travel without a car is simple and convenient. Most of our guests fly into town and are able to get around without the need to rent a car while here. It is a pleasant walk to all the city has to offer this is the best location. If you're not a walker Union Station metro/buses, tour buses, taxis, can get you anywhere in the city.
We can't over-emphasize the location, cleanliness, peace and quiet provided by the 'Suite Up on the Hill' but the key to enjoying your stay is the owner/manager Ingrid. She is just a phone call or email away and very helpful without being too intrusive. She lives and works in this neighborhood so she can probably help with any questions or needs.
We enjoyed our 1-month stay at "The Suite". We found it very convenient, especially with two small children. I will definitely recommend the place for others attending AFIP at Walter Reed, as the ride on the Metro was well worth the location! Your hospitality is greatly appreciated. We will also be recommending "The Suite" to family and friends who plan to visit DC.

Here is an update on a previous review which stated there was no storage and that you would have to live out of your suitcase: Not true when we rented. There is a small closet with plenty of clothes hangers, and there is a vertical storage cabinet in the bedroom. Together, they held all of our clothes with room left over. (Two people visiting for one week)
Regarding the air conditioning. It can't be adjusted - Deon explained that is it preset. There is no working control in the unit. Owners provided floor fans in each room which we used.
Some past reviewers complained about loud upstairs neighbors. If clompers are upstairs you will hear the clomping. But we didn't hear voices or tvs.
Practical advice about getting around: If you will be using public transportation, you should take a look at the DC Circulator. It is a hop on and off circulating bus which is $1.00 per ride to and from Union Station to points on the mall plus other outlying areas. We used this instead of paying $40 per day for the Old Town Trolley with narrator. You can google the routes to compare. For additional travel, like to Arlington Cemetery, Old Alexandria, Reagan International Airport, and Mt. Vernon, we used the Metro (subway). Check out the videos on YouTube for how to ride the Metro - it is easy and cheap, but don't try to buy your SmartCard or take your first ride during rush hour if you haven't used a subway before! The SmartCard can be used on the DC Circulator, Metro, and Buses. Don't buy a week or day "package" on the SmartCard because there are restrictions. Just put some money on it and refill it with a few dollars as needed, we started with $10.00 - again, see YouTube. One last thought - you can order DC Circulator and Metro maps for free in advance of your trip.

We had a fantastic trip to DC, and the Capitol Hill property was an excellent choice for us. It was very clean and comfortable, and a nice place to retreat to at the end of a busy day. Having Union Station and a grocery store only a couple of blocks away was very convenient. I have already recommended it to several of my friends and co-workers.
This apartment is in a great location so close to the train station. It was clean and tidy. It was comfortable for our family of four.
When looking through VRBO for an apartment for our 4-person family to spend 7 days in DC (a 13 and 10 year old) the title of this particular unit was attractive with the "location, location, location" comment. They couldn't have been more right. We would HIGHLY recommend this location to anyone looking for a location that has it all. Besides being a 5 minute walk to Union Station (you can see it from the curb of the unit) and only a 10-15 minute max walk to the Capitol, it is in a VERY quaint and attractive neighborhood with an Italian restaurant 3 units up, and across from the street from that is a GREAT coffee shop. We also found a grocery store about 10 min walk wherein we got bagels and sandwich/lunch makings for the week. Was awesome. The unit itself is a bit older. It is very small, of course we did know that going in from the VRBO details. But it is REALLY small. The bed in the only bedroom is a full, could sleep 2 children; which is where our sleep. 2 adults could just not make it. My husband and I took the pull-out unit in the living area. There is a hair dryer and iron. NO storage for a 4-person family and their clothes, so expect to live out of your suitcases. We felt VERY safe here. Would HIGHLY recommend this unit and even moreso the location of the unit to anyone traveling here and wanting to be super close to the action!
As we arrived at the suite on the hill, the owner met us there, gave a tour and asked if there was any questions or anything we needed. The apartment was super clean, and as advertised, right in the heart of the DC Capitol area. A fairly well apportioned kitchen was super helpful to not have to eat out every meal, and the kids loved that there was wifi for their devices at the end of each long day of touring. A little noise from the upstairs visitors was the only thing that took a little away from the perfection of this apartment.
We will certainly visit again!
