The village is located on the original coaching route from London to Edinburgh. Nowadays since the A1 was re-routed in 1983 the village enjoys peaceful surroundings. It s the perfect base to access and enjoy all that local border towns and Northumberland s unspoilt coastline has to offer. It s within walking distance of local beaches and 2 miles from Berwick with its quirky shops restaurants and cafes all surrounded by the original town walls built in 1588. Berwick is steeped in history and painter LS Lowry was also a regular visitor remembered through the Lowry Trail around the town. Take a short drive to explore historical castles such as Bamburgh Alnwick and Dunstanburgh visit quaint coastal fishing villages or take a trip to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne with its unique access across the tidal causeway.
