About the property

4 Bedrooms + Loft - 2 Baths - (Sleeps 14)

Set in 5 acres of tall timber, this Park's home offers rustic elegance, comfort and absolute tranquility. A visitor would never know they were only minutes away from Flagstaff, restaurants and city activities. Choose from the night-life of Flagstaff or the adventures of the Grand Canyon (that is only a 55 minute drive!) , mountain biking, skiing or any number of outdoor activities within minutes of this beautiful retreat. This 2500 square foot home features a master suite, 4 bedrooms, a loft and 2 bathrooms. A supplemental wood burning stove adds that cozy touch while a family, or group of friends are nestled in for a late night home movie in this beautifully appointed Casa. The loft is great for kids and the covered porch, just off the living room, is great for BBQ's, boisterous conversations, relaxing evenings....Or just watching the wildlife. You are in the woods! The property backs up against 500 acres of Coconino National forest, so the only unexpected guests will be the deer, elk and eagle.

Snow play park off of Route 66 : 5 minutes away is a state park for kids to play in the snow, they have small runs for sledding and sliding etc. Anything you can think of to do in the snow. Great time for the family. Tubing year round at Elk Ridge Ski area.

Tubing in Williams, AZ : 12 minutes away is Williams, AZ 'Gateway to the Grand Canyon' and it has a small ski slope but half of the ski slope is used for tubing (year round) and it is a blast.

About Malcolm Giles

If you are a kind person I will give your family a discount. I take my job very serious and I want our guest to feel very comfortable. I will go out of my way to help them have an enjoyable visit. I love sharing my special place/home with guest. 99.9% love the experience.

Malcolm Giles purchased this house in 1999

Why Malcolm Giles chose Arizona

Wanted time away from the busy 'Valley of the Sun' time to relax and rejuvenate one soul and time to enjoy nature. Time to live in the now and be present to myself. The fun part now is I can share these moments with our wonderful guest.

What makes this house unique

No one is around, you are alone in the woods and you will not see anyone else while you are there. Why not get away from the crowds. I promise you will not want to leave.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We came to vacation and get out of the valley. Thank you for sharing your lovely home. We enjoyed rain storms, fresh air and relaxed. We didn't see any animals but it was nice stop between the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff and Williams. Which we were able to visit all due to the wonderful location of the cabin. Very peaceful, love the location, cabin had everything you could need. Plenty of water, lines, dishes and utensils, etc. Thank you for letting us use the garage to put ours in to keep animals away. We had a great time and really enjoyed our stay.

We have added two new decks for your viewing pleasure, high up in the trees. Decks are on the second floor and you sit in the middle of ponderosa pines. Breathtaking. There is plenty of space to park an RV, boat or any tow-a longs. The spacious 2 car garage is available to all guests wishing to put vehicles in for the night. And of course....The full kitchen is equipped with everything a vacationer would need. The great room is large enough for some 'private space' and a fantastic gathering area to socialize and interact with family and friends.

Beautiful setting, great location.

We had a group of 12 (two families) sharing this home for our Grand Canyon vacation. This gem was perfect for our size. There was plenty of room for everyone. The home provided all we needed and was quiet, comfortable, and relaxing. A hammock and porch swing were great for enjoying the views of the surrounding woods. The games stocked in the closet entertained our kids (teens and preteens). The adults had ample room for meal prep and laundry. The drive into the canyon, while not super close, did not seem too far. Our only disappointment is that we could not manage a sunrise view in the canyon. Getting a group that included 5 teens out that early is next to impossible. We took one day to tour sights around Flagstaff since we were so close and were glad we did. There are some gems in the area. We ended up upgrading to the America the Beautiful pass to save some money. Outside the Grand Canyon, Walnut Canyon was my favorite but the meteor and volcanic craters and Wapatki were also great. (By they way, our friends' youngest was a 4th grader. In case you are not aware, all 4th graders and their families get to enjoy the parks for free during the year.) On our last day there, we took the GC Railroad which departed from nearby Williams into the Canyon. It was an easy way to relax and enjoy the canyon. Our group was a bit more active, preferring hiking and biking which are best done when you have more time after driving in, but it was a nice change of pace. The boys especially loved being so close to Route 66.

Our family often goes to Williams to camp and we used to have a go-to cabin but it was always booked. So we did some research and found this cabin. Let me tell you, we have found a new go-to!! This cabin has pretty much all the essentials you need and we will definitely come back!! One little note I'd like to mention: if your family loves ATV riding, you need to keep in mind this is a residential area so riding around the property is not allowed. But the trails aren't far away so we were still able to go riding!

Comfortable accommodations and secluded feel

  • 5 of 5

Rustic all-wood cabin just off Route 66 in wooded area. Close to plenty of attractions including the Grand Canyon and the Lava River Caves. There's plenty of space and is very comfortable. The kids loved it! The property manager was very honest and went out of her way to look for an electronic device that one of our kids accidentally left and mailed it back to us!

Great location and close to Williams railroad.

The cabin was nice but looked a little different in the pictures. Compared to other VRBO cabins we have stayed in, this was a little outdated. The extra room next to the house did not have a bathroom and the pull out bed in the loft did not have a mattress. The cable TV did not work as well. It was cozy though and was ok for 11 of us.

Owner's Response: After 10 years you think you have solve all the problems or try to satisfy your guess in many many special things we do to make our guess happy, but the guest keep making up new ways to complain, I just paid a professional photographer to up date our pictures. "The pictures did not look like the house." Wow that is all I can say. Also there was a king size bed up there and the extra bed was a futon, that is why it didn't have a mattress. The futon is the mattress. Directv just came to fix the cable for us. There are better ways to let your host know something needs attending vs writing so so reviews. I am glad you were able to enjoy your stay just enough to honor us with a mid range score of a grand total of a 3.
