Damage and incidentals
You will be responsible for any damage to the rental property that is caused by you or your party during your stay.
This was a great property for a large get together. The kitchen was large and accommodating with two dishwashers. Bedrooms were nice and private. It’s surrounded by beautiful trees and a creek.
Just FYI one of the downstairs bathrooms is tiny. Most of the guests preferred not to use it or shower in it but there are 3 others so not a huge deal. The hot tub could have been cleaner but was definitely useable. There’s some road noise as it’s just off the highway also. Overall it is a great place to stay in a beautiful location. We had a great stay!
Thanks for the review Tamisha. I'm glad you loved it.
A note on an exaggeration in the review: Though the entrance of our private road does enter a rural public road that goes directly to town, calling it a "highway" is a bit misleading. The "highway" is an extension of Main Street. Additionally you cannot see any public street from my property. It is separated from the public road by a substantial forest and hills.
As far as the hot tub: if it gets dirty from your use like it did for Tamisha, please call and we will come out and service it so the water stays crystal clear. We will be happy to correct it so that your stay is fantastic.
Great family house
When originally renting this house I was a little worried based on the interactions on some of the reviews but this house was everything it promised. Great private home tucked away just enough to feel like you were deep in the woods. Spacious home with great character. Really enjoyed the indoor and outdoor spaces. The master bedroom with private balcony and steam shower was a fantastic space at the end of all the family time. This house would be perfect for our family as we start to add grandkids. Only wish we could have stayed longer!! Thanks for your great home and hospitality
Quirky fun house with plenty of space
In many ways this was an ideal ski house for our group: Roomy and functional with a great hot tub looking out on pretty trees and mountains. Two families with 7 kids altogether came to ski Sun Valley, and this house made that easier in several ways:
- Huge entry area with couches and hooks for organizing and putting on gear.
- Big, functional kitchen where multiple people could prep and serve breakfast, pack lunches, etc., simultaneously.
- Large garage with countertops, another great place to stage gear. Because it's heated, you could load boots and stuff into the car the night before without worrying about it feeling cold when you put it on.
- Hooks! Besides the entryway, there are also plenty of hooks in bathrooms and on doors throughout the house.
- Besides the hot tub, 2 of the bathrooms have jetted tubs.
- Large living and dining room for apres-ski.
- Multiple heat zones. If you like a cold room for sleeping but the rest of your group wants it warm, choose one of the bedrooms that have their own thermostat.
The house states that it sleeps up to 16, and that would work, using the extra couches and floor mattresses in the house. With our group of 11, we had two people in each of the 5 queen beds, plus one kid on a floor mattress.
This is not a pristine property. Small things that could use attention, for instance one bedroom had one missing window blind and one that was broken and couldn't be raised or lowered.
These things didn't bother us though.
Why do I call it quirky? The layout is sprawling with some surprising design choices. The independent bedroom suite is not just across the garage, you actually have to walk outside to get to it. This delighted the teens in our group, who got that room, but it's not situation you would want for small kids. Then there's the fact that you can see the bed in the master from the loft through the fireplace, which means if you have extra people sleeping on the loft, there is no privacy in the master. Then there are those flat sinks in the master that other reviewers mentioned. We were not fans.
Finally, we didn't like the 2-tier cleaning plan. You pay a typical cleaning fee, but if you don't pay an additional fee, you're asked to go beyond normal checkout procedures, such as wiping out the fridge. Busy with skiing, we didn't get around to reading the list until it was too late to upgrade the plan so it took an extra hour on checkout day to go through all the steps.
Overall, great house!
Spacious, yet odd
Overall, a great place to stay. Very spacious home. Well-appointed kitchen, which made meal prep a snap. The layout is a bit bizarre, suggesting that the place was constructed in multiple phases (you can go through the garage to an additional bedroom, separated from the other living space). The two most bizarre elements were: (1) The master bedroom (upstairs) has no door to its large bathroom, and the commode isn't in a separate "water closet", but is just right there. Seems a bit public for using the toilet. And (2) the "disappearing" sink in the master bathroom...cannot figure out how it can get cleaned, and it was kind of gross. Toothpaste spit and soap washing down through a slit to some hidden basin.
The location was perfect for a hockey tournament, the place is huge, and the overall impression was favorable.
Thanks for the positive review! I’m glad your hockey team enjoyed the location and the beautiful kitchen, and thanks for attempting to reign in your group before more damage could be done to the property during the festivities. Any damage caused was soon corrected, and fully covered by insurance. No need to worry.
As Roberto points out, there is a beautiful and spacious suite which was at one time my office but has been converted. It is private, accessible from the central patio and perfect for someone who needs a little separation from a larger group.
The Master Suite does in fact have a gorgeous and innovative flat sink made of polished granite. That, and every other surface in the rental is cleaned thoroughly between every guest. Cleaning it, like most sinks, is as simple wiping it off with a soft towel (not sure why that would be confusing) but if you want our staff to come and clean it for you, just ask and we can make it happen. It is no more or less difficult to clean than any other sink.
Also or note: The Master suite is the entire second floor, and has two wings behind a single closed door: Bedroom wing and Bath/dressing wing. Privacy is abundant unless you have invited several people into your suite, in which case the three other bathrooms in other wings of the house certainly should be able to provide the privacy desired.
Great family gathering spot
We spent the Thanksgiving holiday with our children and grandchildren. The home was perfect! The large dining table accommodated all of us for a Thanksgiving feast. The kitchen is fantastic and well appointed. Skiing is only a few miles away. Everyone had a great time!
Other Activities: Snowboarding, Snowmobiling, Wildlife Viewing.
