Avoid this place like the plague! Terrible experience!
There's no amenities you have to pay to use anything! Good luck! If you want to use the hot tub it's $50! Insane! So many rules it's uncomfortable.

Amazing getaway in May!
My girlfriend and I traveled to Cape Breton to drive the Cabot Trail and we ended up spending our entire trip at Cabot Shores. We had no reason to leave. The food was great (and accommodated for our gluten free preference). We were able to hike every day. I was able to get out canoeing twice. And each night we would relax by the fire or in the cedar hot tub (heated with a solar hot water system!). It was a perfect vacation and we plan on returning. Ryan and Erica

Very Comfortable Room and Gorgeous Views
I stayed in the lodge, room #1, that had a large bed and a great morning view. The place was very neat and clean and I experienced superb customer service during my stay! The food was soo good! I would certainly recommend staying here or just dropping by to enjoy the tasty fresh food and views.

Evenings by the Woodstove
I spent the better half of last week nesting within the cosy confines of Cabot Shores. And sure, as the new intern, I can be dubbed as bias; however, its with fresh eyes and scout's promise that I say this spot is something to be had. (I've got a good record– check out my Yelp profile: www.lolaphilly.yelp.ca) While the summer months are typically the peak season, the lodge’s high ceilings and solarium style provide the framework for an all-season destination. My impressions were warmed by the large wood-stove, which was constantly piping. Rich oak surroundings (including a hand crafted corner bar) made it all the more intimate, and Barbara’s fresh cuisine was out of this world. (cream of cauliflower soup for swooning!) Trails for hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing were an opportunity for outdoor winter fun, and of course the views were spectacular. Mornings consisted of meditation and ji gong. Owner, Barbara Weinberg, brings healing arts to the resort with such guidance, as well as acupuncture and massage. Dr. Paul Weinberg led me through the long body of land– through campgrounds and along the Indian Brook. It was a privilege to stay under such warm hospitality. As my first visit concludes, Cabot Shores reveals a place of both adventure and rejuvenation.

The best of Cape Breton
Good food, great hiking (following moose trails is best) unbelievable views of ocean & mountains, wildlife (whales, birds & moose) but best of all the chance to truly relax and meet people from all over the world.

About the host

Host profile image
At Cabot Shores, your hosts are Dr. Paul and Barbara Weinberg, Cosmo the guide dog and friendly staff. Barbara is an accomplished acupuncturist, vegetarian chef and gardener. Dr. Paul is a former 'road warrior', teacher and psychologist, who considers his doctorate now to be in 'adventure travel'. Paul can be found jamming on the blues harmonica and trombone, hiking, stand up paddle boarding or kayaking with Barbara and Cosmo.

Why they chose this property

We've traveled the world and found Cape Breton to be a unique, unspoiled and sacred place. We bought and renovated a farmhouse at Breton Cove in 2000, then saw the opportunity at Indian Brook to build a special resort and retreat center where people can easily discover and create their own adventure.
The natural beauty of Cape Breton, and the warmth and hospitality among its three main cultures (Mi'kmaq, Acadian and Scottish) drew us to create Cabot Shores, where great stories and memories are guaranteed.

What makes this property unique

Cabot Shores is not just a bed to sleep in, it is a chance to create your own adventure all in one location. With so many different and unique accommodations, you can experience something completely new each time you come - from a Mongolian Yurt to a chalet, from the cozy lodge to the tree house domes in our orchard! Rent a Kayak, canoe or yoloboard to explore the pond and Indian Brook, then visit our private beach and the ocean beyond by crossing on the Eagle Feather ferry. Have a picnic by the river or hike the waterfall trail. See moose cross the water while sitting in one of our cedar soaking tubs. Try meditation, Qi Gong or acupuncture. Ask us how we can help create the adventure you are looking for.
