Surrounded by fields of sunflowers and wheat in the rolling hills of the unspoiled Val di Chiana, this lovely Tuscan country villa is located between two charming hilltop villages filled with great restaurants, wines, and exceptional shopping - as well as art, history, and beautiful views.

Podere Dadino is a two-story, stone and brick house, typical of the area. It has been carefully restored, retaining the original elements of brick arches, beamed ceilings, and some interior walls of exposed stone and brick. The spacious and comfortable, main house totals approximately 3500 square feet.

You enter through a covered portico (porch, with outdoor table for ten). Inside, three large arches divide the eat-in kitchen (with antique farmhouse table), the dining room with a table for twelve or more, and the sunny living room with large open fireplace and high-end (but comfortable) sofas and armchairs. On the other side of the kitchen are a bathroom with shower; a study with large antique wooden table/desk and a daybed; a TV room with access to the garden and pool area; and a laundry room with plenty of storage space.

A stone staircase leads upstairs to the high-ceilinged, airy, sitting room; four bedrooms (three bedrooms, each with a king-size bed, and one bedroom with a queen-size bed); two baths (one with shower, and one very large bathroom with shower and separate jacuzzi tub); and a large walk-in closet.

The attached guesthouse, approximately 430 square feet, has a separate entrance, two bedrooms (each with a queen-size bed), a small bath with shower, and a kitchen-sitting room with its original stone sink. Please note that rental of guest house in addition to main house is an additional $500.

The house has plenty of space to be 'together' as a family or group of friends - whether at the pool, playing bocce, cooking delicious meals and enjoying them indoors or out, or chatting in the living room. The layout also allows for private spaces when you want some time alone - whether working (or dozing) in the study, having a quiet read in the upstairs sitting room, or finding a peaceful spot under the trees.

The appliances are new. The kitchens are fully equipped and suitable for gourmet cooking. All mattresses, couches, and armchairs are new, comfortable, and of high quality. The bathrooms have modern fixtures. All windows and doors have mosquito screens. Otherwise, the house has been decorated and furnished in traditional Tuscan country-style, with characteristic colors, fabrics, and carefully chosen antique pieces for an authentic and comfortable Tuscan experience.

Although easily accessible and not remote (it is five kilometers from the A1 motorway exit), no other houses are visible from the house or grounds. A 400-meter (approximately 4000 feet long) private, gravel road leads to the house, so the house is well back from the road behind a large field. The house sits on two acres of well-manicured private garden and lawns, offering several areas for grilling or pizza making, dining al fresco, entertaining, or relaxing with a book and a glass of wine.

The grounds have been professionally landscaped with lawns, roses, lavender, flowers and shrubs of all sorts, pots of oleander and aromatic flowers set around mature fruit trees (plums, apricots, pears, apples, nuts, and figs), cypress, and shade trees. The garden includes a productive 50 square meter organic vegetable and herb garden with lettuces, heirloom tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, and more.

The covered front portico, with table and chairs for 10, is a favorite place for breakfast in the morning and dinner in the evening - watching the morning light or the sunset with the hills in the distance.

A wisteria-covered loggia, with traditional outdoor pizza oven, dining table and chairs, is located on the side of the house near the pool, together with a large brick BBQ for outdoor cooking. The loggia is a perfect, shady spot for lunch! And making your own pizzas is a lot of fun.

The 6 by 12 meter (approximately 18 feet by 36 feet) swimming pool, with outdoor shower, gets full sun throughout the day. A stand of trees makes a shady spot at one end of the pool, next to the full size bocce ball court - for your evening bocce games. At the other end of the pool, a rustic, wisteria-covered pergola offers another space for outdoor dining or dozing.

The house is great for a group of friends to relax and catch up; for hosting an extended family or two; for celebrating a milestone birthday, a special anniversary, or a family event; or just as a place to experience Tuscany at its best.

Our caretaker is a life-long local man, who lives very nearby and is available for any problems or concerns. Cooking and extra housekeeping is a available.

The property is perfectly located for exploring southern Tuscany and Umbria, either by main road or country roads. The house is just over the 'border' dividing the provinces of Arezzo and Siena, giving you the two prettiest valleys in Tuscany - the Val di Chiana and the Val d’Orcia (a UNESCO world heritage site). Charming towns, history, art, beautiful scenery, great restaurants, wine, and artisan foods are found in every direction.

Siena is 35 kilometers away, Arezzo 20 kilometers, Cortona 15 kilometers. Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, the Colli Aretini and Colli Senesi wine roads (and wineries), the hot water mineral spas south of Siena, Etruscan archaeological sites, and many other places of interest, including events, festivals, local markets, and the designer outlets are easily reached for day trips. We provide a detailed House Book that offers suggestions and advice on restaurants, shopping, places to visit, things to do, and much more.

We are proud of our many 5-star reviews, and Please email with any questions, and check our website. We love the house and the area - and hope you will too.

About victoria belco

We (the owners) live in the USA, and rented houses in Tuscany for 25 years before finding, buying, and furnishing Podere Dadino. In our years of renting other houses, we had many good experiences as well as some that were disappointing, so we knew what we wanted and what makes for a satisfying stay in the Tuscan countryside. We have furnished and decorated the house with care - and always keep it perfectly maintained. Our goal is that you feel at home when you come through the door, and that everything is in place to make your stay both relaxing and memorable. It is our vacation home too - and we are very demanding!

When we are here, we alternate between days of sightseeing and relaxation, swimming and playing bocce, with visits to our favorite restaurants and checking out recommendations of new ones. We cook too, grilling meats from the famous butchers in nearby Monte San Savino and using the freshest vegetables and fruits in season. The traditional pizza oven is a big 'plus.'

We get lots of 'fun' reading done and spend lots of time by the pool. When we had the pool put in and the grounds landscaped, we knew we had to have a bocce court, as we have such warm memories of bocce tournaments with our children and friends in houses we rented in years past. In all, a stay here is the perfect antidote to the rest of the working year.

Our informative House Book describes local restaurants, shopping, events, and places to visit in this beautiful part of Italy. The house itself is stocked with cookbooks, guidebooks, novels and mysteries, dvds and books for all ages.

Why victoria belco chose Monte San Savino

The location is ideal: the house and grounds offer privacy, peace and quiet, yet easy distance to the most charming and lovely Tuscan towns and sights. This is truly classic Tuscan 'postcard' country: hills and valleys; centuries old cypress trees; winding roads between fields of sunflowers, wheat, olives, and grapevines, leading to medieval and Renaissance villages and spectacular views. It is unspoiled and not flooded with tourists - it is still a place where Italians live and work the land.

It is also the perfect place for developing an idyllic routine of breakfast in the garden, then a drive to explore a nearby town of interest, see the historic and artistic sights and do a bit of shopping, ending just in time to enjoy a leisurely lunch at a terrific trattoria or more elaborate restaurant. Come home for a late afternoon swim, doze by the pool or in the shade, read the book you have wanted to get to, or practice your bocce ball game. Then, over a glass of local wine and some handcrafted cheeses, think about whether to cook dinner with the produce from the garden and what you purchased at the market, maybe make your own pizzas in the outdoor oven, grill some steaks, or to go out for another memorable meal. After dinner, relax some more, maybe with your book, a game of cards, or watching a dvd - or the fireflies - as you sip vin santo and plan your next day.

There is always somewhere new to find and explore: last summer we checked out Umbria and Lake Trasimeno. Our guests are always making great recommendations from their stays - guest have gone fishing, hiking, truffle hunting, biking, horseback riding, to the spas, the outlets, archaeology sites, and discovered restaurants and festivals.

What makes this villa unique

We have a lifelong local man (1 kilometer away) who takes excellent care of the garden and grounds and is available for any repairs or problems. A very efficient young woman oversees the house cleaning and can also provide delicious Tuscan home cooking for your family or group. Guests have raved about her cooking! The swimming pool is professionally cleaned and serviced every week. And finally, our friendly and bilingual (English-Italian) property manager in nearby Florence will make sure all is well.

We answer questions promptly via email - or telephone, Skype, or Face-time if you would like to talk. We are attentive to any questions, needs, or concerns. We hope that you will love the area and the house as much as we do.

If you want to experience Tuscany and Tuscan food at its best, this is the spot - whether you want to cook at home or try a different restaurant every day. Our garden provides the herbs and vegetables (in season). Our kitchen has modern appliances, granite and stone counters, a big country table, and a comfortable rustic feel. The dining room table extends to seat 12. Outdoors, there are both a built in brick and stone grill (for grilling Tuscany's famous meats) and a traditional, stone oven for making your own pizzas, plus plenty of space for outdoor dining.

Under the Tuscan Sun in September

  • 5 of 5

We can't express how much we enjoyed staying at this beautiful Tuscan country home nestled between two charming towns.  It was absolutely perfect!  Our visit to Tuscany included four couples and 3 young adult children.  The home met our every need.  The grounds are immaculate, the house beautifully restored with many amenities for your use. Many of the other reviews outline the amenities which I won't reiterate; however, other items to also mention are that it includes a complete library highlighting travel and regional highlights as well as a large collection of Tuscan cookbooks.

Victoria, one of the owners and main contact could not be more responsive to any question you may have.  She is an email away whether in the US or in Italy. Lolita is the local contact who is minutes away is available for information, preparing meals and responding to any needs you may have. Our group asked Lolita to prepare a dinner on the day we arrived as we were quite jet lagged and she delivered a wonderful meal and shared much information about the local area.  We cooked in all the other days and I must say we gave the kitchen a thorough workout and it met all our needs. We enjoyed pizza night by the authentic wood burning pizza oven which was another highlight among so many.

With the house as a main gathering place, we visited wineries in Montepulciano and the surrounding area. The Vino Nobile was outstanding and I fear we spent far to many Euros shipping wine home.  We attended a cooking school in Cortona which was a tremendous amount of fun.  At the end of the instructions everyone sits down to eat the huge meal along with pitchers of Vino dela Casa.  Victoria provides a very comprehensive "house book" in advance with many, many recommendations about all these areas as well as information about the house and grounds.

Other days we spent seeing the sights in , Arezzo, Cortona, Orvieto, Montalcino, Siena and travelling the Chianti road.  Our groups were sometimes split up but then we all met back at the Villa.  The evenings were filled with cooking, eating and enjoying the wines.

If you want to stay at a quintessential Tuscan villa that is the picture of everything you ever think of about when dreaming ofTuscany, this is the place for you.  The time was not nearly enough.

Amazing Tuscan Home!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had an absolutely amazing time in this beautiful Tuscan country home that far exceeded our expectations! The website ( does an excellent job describing the home, so no point in wasting space detailing that here. The site also has a wonderful gallery of photos. Needless to say, the home is a beautifully restored with many modern amenities. A few amenities that were especially appealing to our group was the beautiful pool (we used it almost every night), manicured grounds, outdoor brick grill and three outdoor eating areas. The fenced and gated property nestled between a large sunflower field and rolling Tuscan hills provided ideal solitude and privacy. Ideally located between two quaint Tuscan towns while at the same time just minutes from the highway.

By car the house is 1 hour from Florence, 45 minutes to Siena. Victoria (one of the owners) is wonderful to work with, as well as Lolita (local contact, housekeeper, cook), Piero (groundskeeper) and Vanni (property manager). Lolita made us a Tuscan dinner one night which was one of the highlights of our trip. Not only was the 4-course meal outstanding, but she was a delight to talk with after the meal!

Our day trips included, Perugia, Montepulciano, San Gimignano, Lucignano, Cortona, Cinque Terre and Florence. All of them are amazing in their own way. Victoria’s house book was the perfect companion to the region and provided many tips to guide our visit.

In the end, we loved the house and didn’t want to leave. We are planning our next trip there as we speak!

Beautiful and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Podere Dadino is perfect in every way. It is a spacious, comfortable house with beautiful gardens and pool. The house is very well equipped as the owner appears to have thought of one's every need. The house is also well situated for easy access to Firenze, Siena, Cortona and many hill towns. Lolita and Andrea came to the house to make us a pizza dinner and it was sensational! Podere Dadino is a great choice where you can relax, enjoy and experience the Tuscan countryside.

Relax and explore Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Podere Dadino for a week in early June with our entire family consisting of 5 adults and a 15 month-old baby. The main house (we did not use the secondary building) was spacious and well-appointed, offering each of us comfort and privacy. The house grounds are meticulously maintained and are quite beautiful. The house's location is perfect for visits to Sienna, Montalcino, Pienza, Arezzo, Cortona as well as the two, local, charming towns of Monte San Savino and Lucignano. It was always a delight to return to Podere Dadino and the end of a hot day for swimming and relaxing by the pool.

Podere Dadino Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We rented this outstanding Tuscan home for three weeks with very high expectations and were not disappointed. The accommodations are very spacious, comfortable, spotless, and very well maintained. All the comforts of home are there for your enjoyment. The main house and guest are large enough to comfortably handle 10-12 people without feeling cramped and the walls are so thick that you can't hear anything through them --very quiet. We had small children visit and they and their parents stayed in the guest house -- perfect set up. Amazing pool and attached arbor area where you can enjoy apertivos and watch the sun set. I would encourage having Lolita fix pizza in the outdoor pizza oven and also a traditional Tuscan dinner -- both were a special treat and worth it. The location is ideal for day trips visiting medieval villages, Florence is a little over an hour's drive. WE HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME!! LOVED IT!!!

Podere Dadino Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

My brother and I rented this lovely house for a family reunion. It turned out to be a spectacularly perfect venue for us. We were as many as 10 people some of the time, and one great feature of the house is the privacy possible because of its spaciousness and configuration. It is quite difficult to hear what other people are doing, so you don't feel piled on top of one another. We had two families with young children, and having the guest house for them -- attached but still separate -- made their visit really enjoyable because the kids could be put to bed easily or take naps without affecting everyone else.

Everything about the house and its furnishings is both beautiful and functional, and well cared for. You have a sense that it is someone's home , which is good, but it is also comfortably your own while you are there. The "comfortable" aspect is important -- it really did feel like home in the best possible way. We had Lolita come and make pizzas one night, and also cook a Tuscan dinner another night -- both were delicious and very much worth the cost.

The setting and location are perfect, and we were there long enough to make good use of the pool and the various outdoor eating spots.

We all hated to leave and would love to come back again. Lucignano is a very charming, interesting, and pleasant town close by, as is Monte San Savino. We spent a lot of time just hanging out in those towns, having aperitivi, shopping, or eating.

Everything about the rental was handled efficiently and quickly. I would recommend this house to anyone with a family or group as a terrific venue for a lovely vacation.
