Overview

Photos and Description of this Frazeysburg holiday farmhouse

5 BR plus loft, 3 BA, price is 4-8 occupants, sleeps 13 (max)

Peaceful and quiet in a rural country setting, our 1833 log home has been restored and integrated with a new 2001 log home. The house is situated on 55 acres of rolling hill farm country and , conveniently located about 30 miles from Mount Vernon, Coshocton, Newark or Zanesville (65 mi NE of Columbus). Relax in the hot tub and watch the wild life, or sit on the porch or before a cozy, crackling fire in the fireplace. Abundant land to walk or ride horseback on. Horses are welcome (not provided).

Rustic charm and country elegance all in one place. Great for family reunions or gathering with friends. House offers washer, dryer and fully equipped, gorgeous country kitchen. Wonderful place to cook for the family. Satellite TV and wireless Internet. 2 1/2 miles off state highway, 1 mile of gravel road.

Property is managed for deer during hunting season, but lodging available and near Woodbury Nature Preserve (public hunting). We have special rates for hunters and package deals available to include food. Lease of land nearby may potentially be possible also. Contact us for details.

The Surrounding Area: Set in the heart of Ohio farm country, the house sits on it's own farm. The area is rural, and scenery consists of rolling hills, woods, farms and farm land. We are about as far away from the hectic life as you can get in Ohio (although there are some wilder areas in southern Ohio). There are miles of gravel roads in the area with low traffic, suitable for biking, walking or horseback riding.

The owners live within 1.5 miles and encourage guests to enjoy the farm sights at both locations. Our amount of interaction with you is controlled by you. You can have the peace and quiet, or spend time on the farm with us - it's up to you.

Come See What the Farm is All About: Our main farm is located within walking or riding distance, about 1.5 miles from the Weston House. We primary keep the stock at our farm, and are doing hay/corn on the Weston Farm. If you like animals, we'd be really happy to share some of our farming practices and let you visit with the animals. Spring time is the best time to see young animals especially the lambs. We are an authentic farming operation raising registered, grass fed Shorthorn cattle and Katahdin Sheep. We also have horses, chickens, dogs, and cats. Our farm operation focuses on management intensive grazing - or pasture rotations. We move stock approximately every 3 days. Typically we have around 25 cows and calves, and between 40 and 100 sheep. Stock is taken to market usually in the fall. Call for current farm activities.

Hunting Season: We are approximately 20 minutes drive from Woodbury Wildlife Preserve, a Public hunting area. We lease our farms during hunting season and may be able to secure land nearby. Additionally, we have relationships with a couple of Outfitters in the area, and would be happy to refer you to them if you're interested in hunting in the area. Please call for details.

About Frank and Lisa Stahl (Managers)

My Ex-husband and I operate this vacation rental in rural, central Ohio. Our goal is to have a nice place for people to leave all the city hustle and bustle behind them, and enjoy the simpler life in the country. Frank still operates a working farm within walking distance of the Weston House, and I live nearby. We hope to expand our business someday to include multiple vacation rentals in the central Ohio area to allow me to stop working away from home, and just manage the rentals. Eventually, this will become a family business if our daughter chooses to join us.

Frank and Lisa Stahl (Managers) purchased this farmhouse in 2005

Why Frank and Lisa Stahl (Managers) chose Ohio

I fell in love with the kitchen in this house when we saw it come up for sale. At the time, thinking Bed and Breakfast, I thought this house, with some minor modifications could be the perfect country B&B. Unfortunately, working away from home has limited my time, so we've chosen to operate it as a vacation rental, catering primarily to families and groups of friends that like cozy, unique stays.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The house sits on 55 acres of farm and pasture ground, which is ideal for nature walks and watching livestock and wildlife. The old cabin of the house adds charm and history to the new, elegant log home. It's a great get away for groups of people who may be family or just friends. Built as a family home, it is a wonderful place to spend a holiday, or even a short weekend and just relax in the simpler way of country living.

Exceeded My Expectations!

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely beautiful home. Clean, modern, comfortable. The area was really "away from it all" and just the getaway my family needed. Soaking in the hot tub on the deck, watching the family roast marshmallows over the fire in the peaceful night was amazing. The kitchen afforded me everything I needed to cook amazing feasts. Our host stopped by with anything we asked for or needed so promptly. Better than my vacation to Las Vegas!

Owner's Response: We live near the rental home, and are only a phone call away. We manage the property ourselves, so want you to have everything you need when you need it. Additionally, we encourage people to stop by our farm where most of the livestock are, but mostly just want people to enjoy the countryside we love so much!

Love love love!!

What a beautiful place! We got some friends and family together to celebrate a military coming home and a big birthday-this was the perfect place! Lots of outside room to run and play. Plenty of kitchen space and many places for everyone to sleep. I would love to go back one day and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a roomy, cozy, plenty of room place to host something at.

Beautiful classic but modern cozy home

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home for all of our family to stay in as a surprise for my mothers 60th birthday. She cried when we walked into the house because it just is so inviting and beautiful and she knew we would have so many special memories here... and we do. The beds are probably the most comfortable i've ever slept in, the backyard is perfect for a fire and star-gazing, the kitchen is just wonderful for cooking for large groups.... I can't say anything bad about this place, just wonderful!!! Thank you!!

Owner's Response: It is exactly for groups like yours that we got into this business with this house. I'm so glad the family had a good time, and were able to appreciate both this historic nature of the place, and the outdoors. Rural Ohio is pretty charming, and interestingly still pretty wild. The farm is a great place to walk, see nature and enjoy wildlife. I appreciate your review.

Excellent Quiet Weekend Country Side Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We made a reservation only a week earlier.

Allison was always responsive over email or phone.

Frank was at the house when we arrived and explained us everything that we needed to know.

The house is split into 2 parts, the older house was built in 1833 with a very huge/cozy fireplace where the living room and a bedroom was.

The newer side built in 2000 had a huge fully equipped Kitchen with a nice enclosed patio with a Grill and a hot tub.

This newer side had 3 bedrooms.

There were 3 bathrooms in all, water is ground based.

We did carry our own food and loved the coziness of this place.

The last bit of directions to get to this house does take you on a tiny bit of dirt road.

We are from the City, but enjoyed everything!

We will surely visit again! Thank you!

Owner's Response: Thanks renter for the nice review. We think the house is charming, and a great place to get away for a weekend or a week even, to relax. It is pretty far out in the country, so assume you'll see some wildlife, and probably not much traffic. Caution though, we may not have the best cell phone coverage, but most groups have at least one member that can use their cell. There are 5 bedrooms total in the house, 4 in the new section (built in 2001) and 1 in the old section of the house (built in 1833, and renovated in 1979.

Large, Clean Cabin With Plenty Of Room -- Awesome Stay

  • 5 of 5

For being a historic cabin, the Weston House was amazingly clean and well-maintained (I loved the large kitchen and master bedroom). We visited in the middle of winter, but the HVAC units and the fireplace kept the entire cabin cozy. Towels and travel-sized toiletries were provided, which was a nice touch. Frank and Alison were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend staying here!

(Note: If you require internet / cell phone access, the coverage is spotty. The cabin DOES have wi-fi, but the download speed is about 2-3mb down...not the best, but it'll do in a pinch.) Thanks for the great time!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. We really like to share our countryside home. It is pretty cozy, even in winter. Our location does pose a problem both for cell service and internet. We aren't very close to anything, and since we are remote, we have limited options. We do our best to keep up with the changing needs of our clients, but you are correct, the download speeds on the satellite internet are not great - and so streaming movies is pretty much out of the question. We do have satellite TV though, and that seems to be a good option for most people. We hope to see you again soon at the Weston House.

Wonderful weekend getaway close to Columbus

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful find that I will definitely return to. The cabin contains part of the original cabin from the 1830s with a modern wing built on. The kitchen is ideal for a larger group. We were able to all be in the kitchen at the same time, cooking and playing cards. We will definitely be returning in the spring to experience it in warmer weather!
