Casa Cusau faces south with full mountain views towards the Picos de Europa national park. An indulgent stay for a couple, but also comfortably sleeps four – an enjoyable place to relax in all seasons. The two storey stone house is a contemporary rural retreat, nestled in a small mountain hamlet, fully rebuilt from the original stone barn, which was a traditional winter place for cattle and hay. There are two bedrooms (double and master), spacious open-plan living and dining area with an exposed timber ceiling, well equipped kitchen, washing machine, ample storage, and bathroom with large walk-in shower. There is a balcony off the living area, as well as a garden terrace, both enjoying mountain views. There is central (underfloor) heating and a large open fireplace. Wifi, screen/ DVDs (English/ Spanish), universal music speaker, firewood and basic supplies such as milk, coffee, tea, olive oil are provided. There is also an extensive library for you to enjoy during your stay (English/ some Spanish).
La Molina lies in the Cabrales valley, and is less than an hour and a half from both Santander and Asturias (Avilés) airports, with good roads leading right up to the village, where there is free parking. The house is less than a 200 metre walk down through the village, whose narrow winding roads are part of its rural charm.
Casa Cusau looks across to the hillside Chestnut forest of ‘Cueto Pando’. There is plenty of birdlife, as well as walks into the park itself, tree-shaded historic paths along the Casaño river with ancient Chestnut and Beech forest, and routes above the village with views into the heart of the park and across to the sea. The wider area has other parks such as the less well known Ponga, also the town of Cangas de Onís with traditional market every Sunday, and good access to the coast with many beautiful beaches.

Owners Olga Ramalle and Marc Furnival (native Spanish and English) know the area for over ten years. After having lived in various places, including New York, Shanghai, Sao Paulo and London, they decided to settle in Asturias permanently in 2014.
Casa Cusau was designed by Olga and Marc (Marc being an architect) as their own home, and completed in 2012. It is on the site of a derelict stone barn, ‘Cusau’ being the historic name.
Olga Ramalle purchased this cottage in 2005
A gorgeous place to stay, cosy and comfy, but also a great place to start discovering the "Paraiso Natural".
Between forest and mountain, and at the same time close to the beautiful beaches.
Thank you Olga and Marc for your hospitality and advices, and congrats for the house !
We'll be back, that's fore sure ;)

This modern, architect-designed house fits in well with other houses in the small village of La Molina. It provided the ideal base for a week of hiking, enjoying local food and visiting attractions. The host, Olga was very helpful and assisted by making reservations for restaurants and sight-seeing attractions. She also was generous in that she supplied some basic food essentials. La Molina is situated at the end of a narrow road, deep in a valley and is in a village with no shops. So, it is important to bring your provisions with you.
A beautifully-appointed, architect designed house in a quiet village nestled in the hills of Asturia. We greatly enjoyed our week at this house and found it a most pleasant place to stay. The house was well equipped and very comfortable. Our visit was greatly assisted by the owner, Olga, who booked restaurants for us and answered many questions about local activities. This house is a great location for hikers, lovers of cheese, good food and history. While being within 30 minutes of many tourist spots, the village is deep in a valley at the end of a narrow road frequented only by locals, canyoners and hikers.
Dear Marc & Olga,
We had a wonderful week here at Casa Cusau! It met our expectations more than we could have imagined.
What a treasure this place is! The photos on the website gave us an idea of what to expect, but when you actually arrive to this home, it was way better in person. Marc & Olga provided almost everything you could possibly need here. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms had great closet space! We had most of our meals outside on the terrace. We wish we had more time here as it flew by so fast. We hope to come back here again some time in the future. I can imagine how gorgeous it must be in autumn.
Unfortunately, our family tends to 'overpack' on our vacations. We learned on this trip that we could do with much less, as it can be a bit of an effort to unload and reload the car. The parking is up the hill from the house (about 3-5 min walk). Luckily when we arrived Marc, Olga and their nephew helped us get our luggage to the house for which we were very grateful. If you want to load the car back up when you leave, you can drive up to the house, but you need to be extremely careful as the roads further on are very steep and narrow. Suggestion to owners: Perhaps it might be worth investing in a collapsible wagon so that people have the option to tow their luggage to/from the house. Actually, we noticed a neighbor using a wheelbarrow to bring things to/from his car.
Despite this small inconvenience, it was well worth the amazing time we enjoyed here.
Casa Cusau was the perfect location for both hiking, beach, and bigger city trips. We enjoyed it here so much and were happy to be able to share it with our friend who lives in Madrid. He has been coming to Asturias for many years and was able to introduce us to more of the coastal areas and culture that Asturias has to offer, while enjoying some new experiences here in the Picos.
Many thanks again, Olga and Marc.

Thank you Olga and Marc for sharing this beautiful place. It felt as good staying in than exploring this beautiful region. We'll definitely recommend it to friends.
If you use GPS make sure you enter Asturias, we made the mistake to put Cantabria where there is also a La Molina!
Dear Olga, dear Marc,
thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful house. The location is superb and the house is fantastic. It is beautifully and carefully designed with lots of attention to details. The house felt really cozy and we just loved any minute we stayed in it!
