You've gotta chose this one!

  • 5 of 5

Great property with very helpful owners. This home has everything you could want or need for a terrific getaway. We especially loved the bathrooms and the gas fireplace was perfect for the cold weather. We just returned January 2009 and were blessed with lots of snow and cold! What a fun time. Highlands is great with numerous shops and delicious restaurants. The hiking is fantastic and snow skiing is within 1 1/2

Owner's Response: We have had the most wonderful guest. When we created the home, we wanted it to be very special to all who stay with us. We love the interaction in dealing directly with our guest, answering their questions about favorite hikes, restaurants and seeing photos of their families at our home. THANK YOU ALL!

Christmas in Highlands

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas in Highlands in this lovely home. Everything we needed was at our fingertips. The kitchen is very well supplied for creating a great meal. Beds are extremely comfortable. There are plenty of spaces for 6 people to enjoy without feeling the slightest bit cramped. The hot tub was a special treat in very cold weather, as was the fireplace. This is a lovely home!

Maybe Better Than Home

  • 5 of 5

A grand long weekend. Fireplace, hot tub, two living rooms, modern, fully equipped kitchen, spacious BRs/baths-all you need, and more. Great location midway between Cashiers and Highlands. You’ll not be disappointed.

Wonderful vacation

The property is beautiful, and we loved staying in the house and enjoying the fireplace and artwork. David was extremely gracious and very helpful when I had to call with a small issue. Looking forward to a repeat visit!

Fall Family Get Together / Highlands, NC

Nice property but for the price paid believe the condition of the home could be improved. In need of some maintenance and some limited repair work, i.e. towel bar fell off of wall in bathroom on the first day. Hot tub cover is much too heavy for regular use; may be water logged, not certain. Would not plan to rent again if going to the Highlands.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry about the towel bar and would have been more that happy to have sent someone out to make the repair. The hot tub lid is heavy duty due to the weight of snow in the wintertime that would cause a lighter one to break. We did send the guest a $50 refund for the trouble.

Bed in master suite very hard "uncomfortable", Mildew in both guest bedrooms was very bad. Had hard time getting gas range burners to stay on. Would not stay again.

Owner's Response: I feel the following response from our housekeeper may explain a lot: "Good morning David! I bet this review was from the Wilson's. When I went there to take them more toilet paper they complained about the mold odor in the bedroom dresser drawers said they couldn't put their clothes in the drawers because of the mold odor. I tried to explain the dressers were antique and this was not a mold issue. The Wilson's had told me when I was there they were 'clean freaks' and would leave the house as if nobody had been there; boy was I disappointed, they left a mess." The mattress they complained about is a high-end memory foam, which some people do not care for. We love it. Highlands is a rainforest and at times the musty odor of the forest permeates the cottage. We have a great A/C system that remedies that. I'm sorry the Wilsons had a difficult time. It is a delightful cottage.
