Our Wondeful Week

What a wonderful place to stay! Where to begin?? Well firstly the apartment looks gorgeous, the moment you open the! Everything was provided, Dahlia even left a lovely notebook so that we could record our memories, so kind. Some food had even been thoughtfully provided. The apartment was spotlessly clean, and the beds very comfortable. Just across the road ( literally ) there is a supermarket and a pharmacy. Public transport is only a very short stroll away. In all honesty I have to say that we would definately stay there again, without hesitation. Dahlia was extremely easy to deal with, I even called her on the way to the apartment to get directions for the taxi driver!! And as a nice touch , Mervin called and made sure we were happy with everything. An overall fabulous experience!!!

It is a good place to stay for a few days

Owner's Response: For security purposes, a new regulation in the building is fingerprint access into all the amenities rather than a fob key. As a result, I’ve changed the listing to reflect that. I hope to accommodate you again.

Great Two Bedroom Apartment 3 Subway Stops From Times Square

We were charmed by Long Island City and the apartment we stayed in. There is a beautiful view of Manhatten from a lovely park one block away from the apartment. It was an easy 4 block walk to the subway to catch the ride into Manhatten. It was great to get back from the hustle and bustle of Manhatten to the much more quiet and peaceful Long Island City.

The apartment was a modern residence for our stay. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking. It was clean and it was great to have 2 bedrooms and bathrooms. There is a wonderful grocery store with a large deli across the street.

The negative is no access to the gym. You need to have a fingerprint id to get in, the key fob no longer works.

So all in all a great spot to stay while in NYC.

Great location just outside the city

We met some friends for a week of tennis, tours, shows and food. The location is great, it is not in the City, but is in Long Island City, just across the East River from Manhattan. You are only one stop away from Grand Central Station and 3 stops away from Times Square on the 7 line. We used the subway to go everywhere and never had any issues. The condo is great for 4 people, with 2 bedrooms and bathrooms. It has a good kitchen and living room for relaxing after a busy day. 13 foot high ceilings make the condo very open and spacious. There is a great breakfast place right by the subway station called Café Henri that serves great breakfast at a reasonable price. Bella Vida is an Italian Restaurant very near that serves great food and drinks. The condo could use fresh paint and a little updating, but I would definitely recommend and would stay there again.

Beautiful location.

The condo had everything we needed to make for a wonderful time spent in New York. Very short walk to the subway, quite a few good eating places in the vicinity as well as a grocery store which also had a hot buffet & freshly made pizzas. Overall we had a great time as we also had a 2 minute walk across the street to get a great view of Manhattan & the July 4th fireworks. Would definitely consider going back sometime.

Very nice place and building - But location is misrepresented

The apartment was very nice with a beautiful view out of the window. The building was nice as well. There were several restaurants located nearby, as well as a grocery store right across the street. It was a few blocks from a subway station that gave us quick access to the city. We really enjoyed our stay for the most part.

Just a few negatives that took away from the experience. First the location of the apartment is misrepresented in VRBO. The map shows it near Central Park, and the description says Upper East Side. Neither is true, it is located in Long Island City. Which that is stated in the details, but to a person not familiar with NYC, that doesn't mean much. When searching for a place to stay, I was looking at the results on the map, and wanted a place near Central Park. So, that was disappointing. But, we didn't let that ruin the vacation for us, we got to experience the subway system in NYC which is fast and easy to use.

Another negative was that there was an issue with the AC before we arrived and it was being handled by the owner. I had corresponded with the owner to setup a time for the repairman to come to the apartment when we weren't there, but ended up coming the next day in the morning while my family was still in bed. So, we had to get everyone up to allow for the repairman to fix the AC.

The last negative was that the owner asked that we were discreet about renting the place as the building doesn't like people staying for a short term. Which we respected her wish, but definitely took away from the experience as we weren't able to interact with the concierge as out of town tourists.

Our apartment is located in Long Island City, NY 11101 where the building faces the East River and Gantry State Park. At the hub, around the corner on Vernon Blvd. is a vibrant restaurant district that is only 5 minutes from Times Square via 7 train subway station three blocks away.

The new 12-acre Gantry Plaza State Park stretches along the East River waterfront with amazing facilities: 3 toddler playgrounds with sprinklers, basketball and handball courts, a sandy beach volley ball courts, a soccer field, restaurants, running and bike paths, fishing piers, and a public library (opening in 2017). From here you can experience the absolute best view of the Manhattan skyline and take the East River Ferry to trendy Williamsburg, the Brooklyn Bridge Park, and midtown/lower Manhattan. This key NYC transportation hub links Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, JFK and LaGuardia airports, and Long Island beaches by train, subway, bus, bicycle, and car.

Long Island City has emerged from a historically industrial neighborhood in the 1990s. It was discovered by artists who turned the industrial spaces into workshops and lofts and then by developers who have made it into one of the more fashionable places to rent and buy. One of the safest neighborhoods in all of NYC.
