Enjoy village life near Bath, Castle Combe and Lacock.

Trimnells offers guests the chance to enjoy village life in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. They can walk to country pubs in a friendly unspoiled village just off the tourist track where visitors of all kinds are welcomed including many overseas visitors who have described Colerne as "a bit of old England". We think by this they mean that locals will greet you and talk in the street and pubs. Local facilities include golf, clay pidgeon shooting, quad bikes, go karts etc. There is also a play area within the village.

If you feel our terms are not suitable for you, eg you have less than 13 people. Or you want more information on some points, just send an enquiry.

Guests who have enjoyed Trimnells House and gardens the most have been families and other groups who seem to enjoy the peacefull walled gardens where children can play while adults can eat and drink. Another group has been Londoners, who seem to enjoy the contrast and leave with batteries recharged.

We have also had alternative health seminars reviewd here:- <a href=> here</a> that have used the house and quiet gardens as a backdrop for videod events, as it could be for your special event. The two local pubs both offer food and one can offer outside catering. Guests may be interested to use the two local pubs for Hen nights and other parties. They can be found on Facebook. The Fox and Hounds and The Six Bells.

You may wish to contact them to discuss what you need including takeaway or eat in food. The Fox and Hounds have a back room that was used by a hen party complete with a male entertainer! Another idea for a party could include a boat trip down river from Bath. Check out Bath City Boat Trips on Tripadvisor.

The local Michelin starred Lucknam Park Hotel offers different dining opportunity including The Brasserie. The Hotel is popular with celebrities, as is Bath.

Trimnells offers large rooms (~20-30 sq mtrs) with en suites. Large off street car park. A quiet, safe location away from main roads but not far from major airports and the M4. Bath is a 20-30 minute drive to the center. We offer disabled facilities including a ground floor bedroom with level access shower. There is also a stair-lift to the first floor. Which might also be useful for those who have been to the pub. The accommodation is on the ground and first floor. The side annex and top floor are separate from the rest of the house including a seperate staircase and door. Noise is not a problem in a detached house if you want to party, and there will be no noise from other parts of the house if you want quiet.

Additionally, our guests can use the Bath Rewards Card which entitles them to a range of discounts within Bath including the Therma Spa and Roman Baths. See here,

Film buffs and families who want to keep children entertained may want to visit nearby Castle Combe where scenes from Stardust, the first Dr Doolittle and Warhorse were filmed, and Lacock where scenes from Harry Potter and numerous costume dramas were filmed. William Fox Talbot did some early pioneering work on photography in Lacock Abbey and there is a Museum of photography in Lacock. The village and Abbey are owned by the National Trust and preserved for posterity.

Trimnells House, Colerne, near Bath, is ideally placed for combining the enjoyment of rural South West England with the delights of exploring the areas’ rich and varied history. Both Georgian Bath and access to The Cotswold Way are only 5 miles away. Situated only 15 minutes drive from the M4 we are also within easy reach of Bristol & Swindon (within 30 minutes) and Cardiff & Cheltenham (within 1 hour). The international airports of Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham & Heathrow are all less than an hour and a half away.

I grew up in Bath and moved to this house in 92. I was a nurse for many years. I have twin girls. I have run Trimnells House as a successful B&B business for ~5 years.

This property (while being a lot of work) is great to look at and live in. The village offers a traditional feel about it and its something that I would like to share with others.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

The good features about this place include the peace and quiet including the gardens and the architecture which was definately a statement!

Other benefits include:-

Large off street parking. Groups often arrive from different directions in many cars. Parking can be difficult in Bath.

Guests will be within 7 miles of Bath, Castle Combe and Lacock. These last two villages are featured in movies and TV and are an attraction in their own right and quickly reached from Colerne.

Guests will be able to enjoy country pubs in a small but vibrant village location far different from the towns or countries many come from.

Guests travelling to Bath whose journey involves the M4 will find we are ideally placed as a destination, before they complete the last few miles of their journey into Bath.

beautiful, well equiped property - perfect for groups!

We have just returned from a weekend at Trimnells House - there were 13 friends and we found the house was perfect for our needs. Tbeh have everything you could imagine you need for a stay and more. They have even thought of the little extra things that make the difference (such as ice buckets!).

I would highly recommend this house for a group, the garden is a lovely, large space and has an enormous bbq! Perfect for summer evenings.

The rooms are clean, modern and spacious and we really liked the shower gel, shampoo and conditioner available for us to use!

Just the right kind of place for our family gathering

We were greeted by the owner and given a very thorough and informative guided tour of the inside of the property. There was plenty of equipment of all kinds in the kitchen, though the kitchen itself could have been better laid out given that several people would be contributing to cooking and clearing at the same time.

The one ground-floor bedroom has a walk-in shower and separate toilet and would be suitable for a person with limited mobility, though would not be sufficiently equipped for someone with a wheelchair. All the bedrooms are of a good size and all comfortable.

There was plenty of outdoor space for children to run around. When on Saturday evening we needed fresh charcoal for the barbecue a quick text to the owner brought a rapid resupply.

For another similar kind of family event we would be happy to visit Trimnells House again.

Lovely house! Lovely owner!

The house looks beautiful on arrival and the friendly owner showed us around this fantastic house.

There is a large lounge and dining room suitable for 12-14 people, a great, fully kitted out kitchen and some large bedrooms with extremely comfortable beds.

The house is suitable for all types of holidays/gatherings/parties and even with loud music playing downstairs the bedrooms are quiet.

Couldn't recommend this house more!
