About Matilda Jamison

James bought the house as a retirement home. BUT he knew that retirement was a long way in the future so he outfitted it like he would like to see it and decided to rent it out so others could enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of Maine.

When we met he said he would never be able to see Maine again...as he had lived there as a young man and went to school for college there. This proves him wrong!!

Matilda Jamison purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Matilda Jamison chose Maine Highlands

We looked at homes in Vermont and New Hampshire because we thought Maine was totally out of the price range. But Maine is where we both wanted to be. He found this one on his own and I got to pick between two. This one is the winner!

What makes this cabin unique

Quiet, quiet, quiet!! Not in a subdivision! Lake to look out at one side and woods the other. My kind of living!

Simply Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our 2 week vacation and I must say this cabin has got to be the most comfortable place we've stayed at. Not one detail was forgotten (master bed was so comfortable!!). A few of our favorite moments: sitting on the deck and staring at the water for hours, the day Hurricane Daniel rolled in and we were all snuggled watching movies, playing a vicious game of Uno with friends for hours, listening to the loons all day, watching a bald eagle as he was perched in a pine tree on the property.....the list goes on. The neighbors were terrific and didn't mind Jett, our nosey black lab, peeking in their homes. So if you're looking for the comforts of your own home, but also want the 'cabinish' feel - this is the place. Thank you James & Tillie for sharing your home with us. We hope to make it back again soon.

Great outdoors!!!

  • 5 of 5

Best northern vacation! We loved it here!!! It truely was a home away from home! Most items were provided except your food! We were glad we brought our fishing poles for lots of catch and release off the dock!!! We loved the paddle boat even more!!! There were several trips a day around the pond! They are definitely dog lovers, there were many toys, food and beds through out the house! We brought our own food and toys but our dog loved the beds! Thanks for a great stay, we are already going to book our trip next year!

Perfect get away!

  • 5 of 5

We just stayed the weekend at this cabin and it exceeded all expectations! Every part of the cabin was so well thought out. The little things like the newspaper, gallons of water and charcoal for the grill left out for us we're all so thoughtful. The canoe was great and we even caught some good size bass! This cabin will always hold a place in my heart as my boyfriend proposed to me in it. We definitely hope to return one day :)

The home was beautiful and spacious. The backyard was perfect for games, pets and privacy.

  • 5 of 5

We had an awesome time! The only thing we needed to supply was food. The home was completely stocked with all of our needs and amenities. It was super welcoming for our dog and even had toys, beds and treats for him. The home had games and movies to choose from; a fire pit and tiki torches. We loved taking the canoe and paddle boat in the lake. Our entire stay was so peaceful and private, we can't wait to book again!!

We loved our stay at the cabin. We felt right at home upon arrival. Other than uncomfortable beds, everything else was perfect and made up for it. It was the perfect place to gather the family. Hope to get back again.

Lee and Silver Lake in Maine are 45 minutes from Bangor, two hours from Acadia State Park and Bar Harbor, and a very short drive to Baxter State Park home of Mt. Katahdin. There are snowmobile trails behind the house and plenty to see in both Bangor and Bar Harbor and in between. In the winter the cabin is about 3 miles from a ski slope for $20/day and in the summer just a couple more miles to the beach outside of Lee. If you like boating you may bring your own to put in at Lee and dock at the cabin or take the canoe for a tool about the lake and surrounding areas. Or perhaps a day trip to Canada which is only an hour away.
