The villa is located on a small hill on the North West corner of the island, five minutes drive north of the town of Nathon and 20 minutes drive away from the international airport.
The beach, only five minutes drive down the hill, offers a huge expanse of beach combing and crab hunting at low tide for children, and of course numerous nearby restaurants where one can sample some of the local Thai cuisine. By far the best attraction of the villa is the views over the palms and coastline, five islands, and the Gulf of Thailand.
Nathon offers great views out to the Ang Thong Marine Park and the mainland area of Surat Thani also on the horizon. Along the waterfront there are some lovely little restaurants to enjoy the views. Being on the west coast it's a good spot to enjoy a sunset dinner.
There are a few restaurants dotted around the main and side street areas of the town. If you like seafood you're guaranteed same day ‘caught fresh' offerings at the restaurants in town, and if you would like to see where dinner has come from just head to the waterfront. There's a small fish market with local fisherman's wives selling their husbands catch from the previous night and early morning.
Nathon is where the Thai locals come to do their shopping. The town represents much better value than the main tourist hubs. You will not find as much choice, but you will find the prices are 30% to 50% cheaper. The typical shop fronts and market halls sell clothes, travel luggage, bags, gold, silver, DVDs and souvenir items.
Nathon Town is definitely worth a visit for an afternoon of shopping or lazy afternoon lunch by the sea.
Koh Samui is the third largest island in Thailand, located 700 kms south of Bangkok in the Surat Thani province.
