This spectacular villa in front of the lake is located in Stresa, Lake Maggiore, 45 minutes from Malpensa Airport, in the opposite direction of Milan. The most prestigious villa in Stresa is an exclusive accommodation best suited for businessmen groups, or families for holiday. This large villa on Lake Maggiore, with four floors, 8 bedrooms was built in 1903 by Ricordi family. Originally named Villa Glicine, it is now known by the locals as Villa Ricordi. The Lake Maggiore location is the best for small group meetings and family gatherings.
The ground floor has a garage with covered parking for three cars, storage space and a cellar. The first floor has a fully equipped kitchen, living room with fireplace and piano, an organ, an antique billiard room with a sound system, television room. There is also a large terrace with a spectacular view that has a stone table that seats 12, which we use for our main meals. The second floor has two double bedrooms with bathroom that have a splendid view of the lake, a bedroom for children with bunk beds and a single bed, two bedrooms with queen-size beds and a shared bathroom.
It is the most beautiful villa in the Lake Maggiore and we wish that people all over the world can enjoy this paradise
Front Lake Maggiore, front Iles Borromee, Isola Bella and Isola Pescatori. Private beach and private pier
We loved our stay. The Villa is perfectly located with beautiful grounds, terrace and views.
Easy yo walk to center of town, train station, boats etc.
Bedrooms are a little ill arranged with baths but very workable we had 4 couples with one on third floor to get a private bath in the hall.
Kitchen is small and not greatly equipped. Knives, pots and pans need to be updated.
No wine glasses was an issue.
All in all, we loved staying at the Villa.
What a treat. The house and garden offers the uniqe Italian experience - and in the stunning surroundings by the Maggiore Lake it all blends together as a almost unreal. The house is old, with no aircondition and a little outdated (but charming!) Kitchen. This is however minor details and all forgotten because the house is a gem: Facinating history, lovely furnitures, beautiful details, high quality interior, all with a personal touch and tons of atmosphere. You can see and feel that someone truly care about this Place. Its overall very well maintained, everything Works and its nice and clean. And then the garden! Paradise. Statues, flowers, lights, badmington and pingpong - and Nice, new sunbeds. The Pictures does not justify how lovely this is. The house offers a private Beach - wich worked perfect for us travelling with teenagers. The beach is Maybe not suitable for small children since its rocky - but its a gate between the Beach and the garden so smaller childre can play safely in the garden. The house is located 5-10 minutes walk from Stresa - through a beautiful park/promenade. Stresa itself is a small and charming town with a lots og restaurants/cafe etc. For us, this was Our Italian dream come true - we would love to come back!
What a wonderful week -- from the moment we stepped into this beautiful home and were welcomed by the owners, who walked us through and even drove us to the supermarket and introduced us at a local wine shop. The large villa held our group of 9 adults with great comfort and privacy. We would lose track of where people were! The panoramic view of lake, islands and mountains from the rear stone terrace and grounds is absolutely breathtaking. With its trees, plantings, and statuary, you feel like you are staying at an arboretum. At night, the palace gardens on Isola Bella light up and seem almost close enough to touch, and the lights of towns ringing the lake sparkle. The bedrooms and bathrooms are quite nice and very clean. Twice during the week the owners arranged for a cook to prepare dinner for us at the house and serve us at the long table out on the rear terrace overlooking the lake. These home-cooked meals were a real highlight, better than at any restaurant! The villa is located at the end of the lakeside promenade of palm trees, hydrangeas, a pleasant 15-minute stroll into town. It was cool at night, and we could leave the windows open, as there were no insects. There were fans if needed. Our favorite days were when we did no travelling and just stayed home to enjoy the villa!
I've simply never experienced a vacation more pleasant than the week we spent with friends at Villa Ricordi. It was like living a marvelous dream. The moment you walk in the front door and see the stunning view of Lake Maggiore out the back door, you are hooked. We enjoyed wonderful times on the back patio eating, drinking and relaxing while captivated by the beautiful lake, nearby islands and boats on the water. The Villa itself is like a movie set, with spectacular room after room, books on the remarkable Ricordi family, and statues inside and out. You find something new and interesting around every corner. Being here really is living the good life. I highly recommend it!
The villa is a superb property of the Ricordi (music) family with an astonishing positioning just in front of Isola Bella the queen of the Borromee Islands and it is very well maintained and went under refitting and painting just before our arrival.
We loved tasting sparkling Italian wine at sunset after a bath from the private lake beach and enjoyed dining on the stone table of the lovely terrace lake view accompanied by the sound of the peacocks in love. A very good private chef service made by a young italian professional is also available.
Morning lake rides with kayaks were also part of our holiday and some of us enjoyed the 4 golf courts in the nearby.
La Rampolina restaurant with its wonderful outside dining overlooking the lake was a one of a kind suggestion from Marisa (the owner). Davide and his wife will gently and professionally cocoon you. Wine tasting at La Cambusa in Stresa another not to miss place and if you desire to take home some good italian wine this is the right place.
We recommend this property and will do our best to come back soon
Beautiful, very large house with expansive manicured garden. Wonderfully private with a great view. The cleaner and gardener showed up a few times a week but generally we were left in privacy the whole time. The house is directly on the lake with its own swimming platform-- mind you the water is a bit cold. The kitchen is well equipped so meals at home are a great option. The rear of the house has a lovely large patio where you can dine and relax. Parking for at least four cars, maybe more, inside the gates. Wifi internet was available in the house. Bring your musical gifts because there are several pianos and other instruments! My only criticism is that there was too little information about the place before we got there. A lot of the things I have just mentioned were big unknowns for us. Good-- let's keep this place a secret! A dream vacation for a group.
Thanks Ricordi family!
To the tourist, who for the first time arrives in Stresa, it is offered a breathtaking spectacle. At first the gorgeous lakefront, lined with palm trees, with flourishing gardens and facades of majestic hotels. Then, turning to look at the lake, enchanted, as if emerged from the same waters the spectacular Borromean Islands (Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori). Just the splendor of these visions to make one understand how Stresa has been able to become one of the maximum meetings of international tourism. The town, already in the middle half of the 19th century was the most elegant place to stay, the most visited of the international bourgeoisie.
